Before I love to watch movies in cinemas now that I have internet access I just download it online.I used to rent dvd's but since I seldom go to the mall and rent bec. I am too tired to walk to the mall which is by the way across my office.
But if my boyfriend wants to watch a certain film and if he thinks it would be best to watch it on big screen, that's the time we watch it in cinema but since we have a nice tv and we have internet I sometimes suggest that we download it online and use our speakers and pretend that we are the cinema.
Not only that we save money for watching a film,we can relax at home and just grab our pillows while watching the film.

Hi 4aps77.
I download the film online as well.It will take a few days if there's only a few users who has the film I want but if I am lucky I can download it for a few hours only but I would sacrifice my internet access bec.if you download a film it will interfere with the internet access and it will slow down the speed. So what I do is that I leave my pc on overnight and by the time I wake up the film is done downloading.
Thanks for the post 4aps77

Sure I do!
I still watch my movies at the cinemas. I don't rent any dvd because I don't own a dvd player.
I tried searching for online sites to download (legal ones... I don't mind paying money) movies but can't seem to find any that cater to my locality and have current movies (paying for old movies is like... ahem...).
So I am stuck with the TV and also the occasional cinema visits. Movie costs ridiculous over here.

Hihi, thanks for the recommendation. But hmmm, that is not exactly legal right? At best, it is in the gray zone... I think I will stay out for now. Thanks anyway. :)

Well I hardly ever rent a movie. I do sometimes buy them. Ifit is one that I just know after I see it will want to own it.
I like to go to the Library and get them. It is free that way. You can even look it up online with your Library card and see what movies that you would like to see and then reserve them. When they come into your local Library. The Library will call you and you go pick them up it is really easy and frugal!

Hi louiseknittel.
It's good that you have a library in your country that allows you to borrow it aside from borrowing books. We don't have a library that offers that kind of generosity for the film.
Have a nice day LouiseKnittel.

Hi Iyah.
It's good that you have a dvd writer.I am just lucky to have an internet ISP provider that gives good speed so I can have my fave film downloaded in my pc.I guess we just have to be wiser on where to use the money and watching it in the cinema is not necessary it's just a necessity.
Thanks for the reply iyah.

I only go to the actual cinema very rarely. Sometimes I'll go with my friends or my and my husband will go on opening night of a movie we have been waiting to see, like the Harry Potter movies. I'll definately be going in a few months when Twilight opens. For us its a matter of money and distance, and good movie theater is at least an hour away and tickets are $7-$8 per person plus food and gas money...it turns out to be a tad on the expensive side. If it wasn't so expensive we would go a lot more, but as for a preference I enjoy watching movies at home. We get onto the couch and cuddle up under the blankets and you can pause it when you need to...its just more cozy! We also have netflix which is a fave of mine since I'm always for a movie. Netflix works perfect for us and its cheaper than renting or ordering them through paper view with as many movies as we watch :)

Hi musiclover.
There are really some movies that's worth spending for and there are just some films that you can actually download online and just enjoy watching it at home. For the Harry Potter well I am not a fan but I was able to watch all of them from my friends dvd copy.
Thanks for the post musiclover.

when I was young I use to go to the cinema all the time but now with 2 little kids we don't go too much. The last movie we tried to go see was Kung fu panda. We missed alot of it and left early b/c my 3 year old had to keep going to the bathroom to pee and then my 1 year old didn't want to sit still so we will try again but it will be a couple of years from now. DVD is best for us so we don't mess up anyone elses viewing. The prices for stuff there are crazy. We spent over $30 at the concession stand and didn't get that much stuff for that.

Hi mflower2053.
I've experienced bringing my kids inside the moviehouse and my ex-husband lost his patience and promised not to watch movie with them bec.they don't concentrate on the film and they do crazy stuff inside the movie house and we get embarrassed..you know people want to enjoy the film and not to be disturbed by noisy kids.
So now that they are already big...as you can see in my avatar..they behave now but instead of spending money for the film I just spend the money in arcades or rides for them to enjoy.
Thanks for the comment mflower.

I agree with you. I also don't like to got to cinema halls braving a long drive, traffic jams and sitting in one chair for long hours. I always like to watch movies in the comfort of my home. Where I'm the king, I can sit or lay down in whatever manner I like. Where I don't have to get ready by wearing formal clothes and remove them after coming back. Where I don't need more time to relax after coming back from theater(and yes, money is also saved along with precious time).
Normally, I like to grab a DVD for watching movies but sometimes I download it from net also.

nowadays, we seldom go to cinemas to watch films, we just rent a dvd and watch it by our family, its more cheaper than going inside the mall and watch there not to mention the foods and drinks you have to get while inside the cinemas.

Hi Katwoj.
Actually watching films in a movie house would be a treat for us.If we think that the movie will be best watched in the big screen,I guess that would worth spending money but on the second thought it would be a lot cheaper if we just rent dvd's or download it online and just watch it at the comfort of your home.

I still prefer going to a movie theater/cinema, but can't do it often. I don't rent, normally. I will just use Pay Per View on Sattellite or wait until it's on HBO or a similar channel.

Hi nanajanet.
I used to have a cable and what I do before is just wait for my fave film to be shown in HBO but sometimes it will take a long time before they show it in HBO.Though I still have time to watch HBO if we visit my boyfriends parents.
With the crisis that's happening right now in the whole world I guess it's really practical to rent or download the film and save the money or spend the money for something else.
Thanks for the reply nanajanet.

Hi balki07prithvi.
That's my answer too.If it's my super favorite actor then probably I will watch it in the movie house but with my kind of work..I am so tired already to walk and cross the building to watch a film.My office is located inside a mall and there's another mall across the street and I am already fine with our nice tv and a very good sound system and I still enjoy watching the movie in dvd or from download, minus the airconditioning...too bad I don't have my any aircon at home.
Have a nice day baki07prithvi.

This apparently is a great topic. I think it is. I wonder what the ratio is for # of people per year now versus 20 years ago when I used to go all the time. Not the money, I don't think this is about the money, I think this is about what we would RATHER do. I prefer to rent movies first, then buy them if they are worth it. My boyfriend prefers the theater for certain movies. We went and saw 'Die Hard 4' for nostalgic purposes, he has seen 'The Dark Knight' 3 times this summer, I took my 7-year-old nephew to see 'Hellboy 2', I also saw all 3 'Lord of the Rings' movies in the theater. I was 3 when my uncle took me to see 'Star Wars', so I have really been to the theater all my life, I still prefer to rent. I will always prefer the comfort of my own home, where I can put my feet up, wear my pajamas, pause for a potty break, and nobody complains. Popcorn is cheap and freshly popped, candy is cheap, soda is cheap and not watery, and the company is optional. I don't have to start it at any specific time and I can rewind it if I miss something. I don't see the downside.

Thank you for finding this topic a great topic. The convenience of watching at home is a nice feeling also. You can pause the film if you want to go the bathroom but if you are going to watch a film in the cinema and you decide to pee..you will ask your companion what happened when you were gone or you will stay after the film and watch it again just to see the part that you missed.

Before, when I'm still in college... Me and my boyfriend used to watch movies in cinema almost twice or trice a month especially during weekends... But now that I am already working and we are far from each other, I am not already going to cinema.. My older sister usually will download or burn movies then I'll just watch it at home during my rest day.. Since, I don't have companion to watch movies in cinema and also it is very expensive now to watch movie in cinema ..

I prefer watching movie in cinemas, it makes the feeling, and experience different from renting a DVD or watching a movie from your PC. I just like the big screen, and the better sound system of the cinema :)

It's good for you seekmore that you have that half-price day offer in your country.Well here in our country we have a lot of pirated dvd's where they have all the latest movies in one cd..ooopss..I am sorry I am guilty of watching it...but the cds are not mine...I just borrow it from friends that's why to avoid of getting caught buying pirated cds...I download my fave film online.
