Absolutely. Too few heterosexual people take marriage seriously these days, with all the adultery and divorce, using kids to get back at one another, and all the manufactured drama. At least homosexual people consider the institution sacred enough to fight for their right to have it.

Again, I will say it, the government has no right dictating who can get married and who can not. That is what this boils down to. Not what people believe is God based, sacred or holy.
It is the government going AGAINST the Constitution that everyone should focus on. What scares me the most is that people can't get past their own predigests to see the scary underneath issue. By allowing the government to do this, we are giving them control that they should not have.
Agree or disagree with morality of the issue, we as American’s should always stay together when it comes to the Governments control.
If they are going to tell gay people they can't marry because of the sanctity of marriage. What will be next? Are they going to pass a law that straight couple can’t get divorced once married. The sanctity of marriage is not defined by the union of man and women until the man and woman can’t live with each other any longer.

I don't.
The fact that marriage is currently not treated very seriously is not a reason to treat it even less seriously.

I don't support it either. I think it is not what marriage actually stands for.

thank you. i belive gay people should get marriage like benifits but it should not be called marriage or related to anything holy.

Yes I do. Our government should have no say on who is allowed to get married and who is not. That a very slippery slope.
As for the religious aspect of it. Churches that are against it should not be obligated to perform the marriages.

a marriage is a sacred unity between 2 people in love. does it matter if both are of the same gender? the heterosexuals dont treat it very seriously these days so i dont see them in the position to comment much about it actually.
as long as the 2 parties are in love, i really dont see why not.

As for what marriage actually stands for today...not a whole lot, considering half of all married people will get divorced. I say do away with "marriage" as a ritual altogether.

No I do not approve of gay marriage. As a chritian it would be wrong to validate gay partnerships. The Bible is very clear on homosexuality. It is immorral and wrong in the eyes of God. I am not claiming that I am sin free, in fact far from it, I have my share that I seek forgiveness for. But I cannot condone gay rights/marriage in good conscience. I can and do however pray for them and pray that God will prevail in their lives.
