How do you deal with...

people promoting some things to you on the streets? I have encountered a lot of these people who are distributing some leaflets and fliers about a certain product (a good or a service) or about a certain business establishment. There are times when I encounter people who are very pleasant and really very friendly. There are also times when I encounter those that are insensitive and pushy. Most of the time, I just get whatever it is that they are distributing. If it is interesting, I would read it for a while. If not, I just throw it in the nearest trash can. Do you stop for a while to get the leaflets and/or fliers they are handing to you? Or do you just ignore them? What if they follow you around?

I try to avoid them, they are so annoying and they just target you from a distance and zoom in! I always spot them and then plan my escape even if it means going the long way round! It is worse when they are in the supermarkets and they plant themselves at the entrance/exit. Then I always wait until they have got someone else and then quickly zip past them. It is ok if they are just giving leaflets out I can cope with that, I just take them and then bin them.

You are right, they can really get annoying. On a really bad day, I just try to avoid them as I do not really want to say something rude to them.

Well, I usually don't bother with them. But the Jehovah Witnesses are good with soliciting. Which gets deeply on my freaking nerves!

It depends on the situation if they caught me in a hurry then i should say no thank you and excuse myself to pass and leave them. But instance that they are trying to sell me something interesting and i think i can use it then i might stop and listen or take the fliers and their contact and contact them next time.

i always get the flyers or leaflets and continue walking, i don't have enough or extra time to listen what they are going to explain share some good ideas about their products or services but i will check the reading materials they give me when i'm home. i buy a small box intended for those reading materials i got when i am out of my house. we don't know that flyers will help us in the future.

I don't like people who hand out religious pamphlets. I find it annoying. I usually just walk by when I'm in a public place. I think I may be considered rude to the ones who come to my door. I tell them no thanks and close the door and walk away.

I usually just smile and keep on walking. When I was younger and had lots of time on my hands, I used to enjoy stopping to debate Bible theory with those who were out witnessing for their churches, but these days I get my fill of debating in other ways. I've never had any street solicitor follow me around, though. I'm not sure how I'd deal with that.

I usually take leaflets and fliers that are distributed even if I throw them in the bin when I arrive at home. If I am interested in something they are selling I listen to what they have to say, if not I just say that I am in a hurry and I just leave. I don't have time to waste listening to something I am not going to make use of. © ronaldinu 2008

I sometimes will take the leaflets or fliers. But sometimes I just ignore them especially when I am rushing to reach my destination. If they follow me then I will quickly escape myself.

I just say very nicely, thank you but no thank you and carry on walking. There is no need for anyone to be rude to them as they are only doing there job.

This is common everywhere.People work for others business by promoting their products, services ,etc, etc.I don't want to disappoint or hurt others feeling so even i am not interested i will just accept the leaflets and fliers they would give me and also to show respect being a person.

yeah, i decline to accept the leftlets , they can learn it from my eyes. once i reach out my hand for it, i will keep it cause it means i'm interested in it. or take it and throw in dustin, i think it a waste of source cause printing posters and leaflets cost.

i usually just ignore them now. before i would take the leaflet and then toss it. i don't really read them. if they try to follow me i would still just ignore them i guess... but usually they don't. the people i see in the mall who do that don't really look like they enjoy what they're doing so they're really not that pushy.

I deal with them nicely, its just i accept the leaflets and try to read or glance at it. If im interested with the product or service that they are offering me then why not to listen to them or try it. But if its not on my list or priorities or of my interest i just accept the flier and leaflets then ill just ignore them. If they will be pushy to make me buy the product then il be confronting him frankly that im not interested. But again Ill make sure that ill be doing it in a nice way.

If people are trying to give me leaflets or fliers I take it and look through it and then usually thow it away. For me bigger probelm are people who want me to take part in some survey. They always say it will only take a minute but I have to talk to them for half an hour. Or people who want me to buy something (usually perfums) for great price or buy one and get second for free. They sometimes even follow me in hope I will buy their product. If this happend I go into some shop and spend there some time.

If it's something I think I'd be interested in of course I take it and say thank you. If it's something I'm not interested in or just don't want. I say no thank you, becasue I know printing prices are alot and I don't want to take something if I'm not going to read it.

Most of the time, while passing through streets, I am pressed for time so I barely stop to catch hold of these people and their leaflets. I know they might be promoting something new and quite interesting but if I have to reach at certain place at a particular time, I cannot take change of being late. I prefer disposing of my task first, instead of taking leaflets. But if I have time while passing though a street, I pick up those leaflets to be read at a later stage.

Hi dolce, I have tried doing that really and it wasn't easy! LOL! You will see people throwing it in front of you and some will also insult you,,,LOL! ANyway, I don't like also people who are very annoying and pushy, I accept those leaflets and oftentimes, I will throw it afterwards, but, I have to makes sure I am not throwing it with their presence! I know it's their job as whAT I have experienced too but wish people who are in that work will also respect people especially those who doesn't like to accept it!

Hmmm. Interesting because sometimes there are very good fliers out there .. I would have to say that I'm the individual that I usually will grab a flier that is interesting to me and just say no to the others. If they start to follow me around I do however turn to them and say if you continue this method of harassment you will not like the outcome. They usually walk away by then.

We get quite a few canvassers in our little town, and although I dont go to town more than once a week I will always seem to bump into one!but im fairly good at the pleasant `go away` technique lol,i USUALLY JUST TELL THEM QUIETLY THAT IM NOT REALLY INTERESTED BUT THANKYOU VERY MUCH..oops capitals...they usually accept it gracefully. But i find the worst offenders are the ones who sell the little badges for the different charities, they can be very persistent, and are intent on selling you a badge.Well I have yet to work out the logic behind these charity badges, they cost money to manufacture,so why make them in the first place. When they get home the badges are popped into a drawer or sling into a dish nevr to be seen again until a spring clean comes along,so maybe it would be better to just give a donation without a badge.

Most of the time, I ignore them. But some times, I get the fliers from them, continue to walk away from them and read the flier along the way. Then if I get to be interested with the product, I make a call with the firm that is in the flier to clarify somethings. Some times, if the people who distributes the fliers is nice to talk, I stop and have a little talk with them about their products. (neildc @ red/90/1796)
