Do use prepaid or postpaid load in your cellphone?

I use prepaid because I'm afraid to use postpaid for I may not control myself that I would pay a lot more than what I should just be using. I don't want to be in debt just because of texting and calling. I say it's more practical to use prepaid for you to have lesser expenses. Postpaid is I think just for businessmen or those that need load any time of the day for certain work emergencies. What do you think? And how about you? Do you use post paid or prepaid?

i use prepaid because i think it is better. i don't text that much especially when there's nothing important to talk about so i can really save a lot when using prepaid rather than postpaid services.

yes, I agree with you. I'm like you too. But it's different with my mom. She uses prepaid but it costs her more because she always has calls and texts but she doesn't want to have it on post-paid. LOL

you're a practical person to use prepaid on your own phone. Others would use post-paid for both.

so you've experienced having overused your postpaid. How much did it cost you?

I'm pretty disciplined with my load usage. I'm currently using pre-paid, but i plan to switch to pot-paid. Coz i think it's more convenient for me. I find it such a hassle to find a cell card or a load outlet and i cant keep track of the exact date my load expires.

I use prepaid because, just like you, I want to limit my communication expenses. Also, I don't want another bill adding to my financial obligations at the end of the month. You're right about business people, though. I work as an associate for an auditing firm and I heard from one of our managers that our partner a.k.a. THE boss implicitly requires her managers to have postpaid lines for, like you said, accessibility during emergency situations. Also, so that they won't have any excuse not to call her back if they miss her calls. *lol* Anyway, I'm glad that semi-requirement doesn't extend to us yet so I could happily enjoy using my prepaid phone kit. =)

I personally use the prepaid, and have basically since they came out; it is cheaper for me because I only need and use the phone for emergencies.... being on Disability doesn't leave one much money per month to have or use a regular cell phone so yes I use the prepaid, sometimes it can be a pain in the butt, because I forget to reload more minutes onto it, or don't have any money to get a darn card with minutes to load...

But maybe there won't be a time that you won't be using your cell for a month, right? But maybe for some reasons it may happen. You're right about that, availing of it would mean a monthly fixed price for you.

I'm not the kind of person to talk on the phone much, so we didn't even own cell phones for a long time. We bought my first one when I began having to walk with a cane so I would be able to call for help if I got stuck somewhere. Now, I'm addicted to texting to my son as we live in Texas and he lives in Louisiana. We started out with a monthly service plan and found it to be quite expensive for the little we used it. We switched to tracfone and have enjoyed their service since. We don't use the cell phones for conversation, just stuff like "I'm on the way home now", so our home phone is our primary.

Definitely, in my opinion - Postpaid is better - it has the best schemes and everything. And I doubt that I won't be able to control - since even now, when I am using a prepaid I don't use it so much, and I don't even think there's much need to call or something. If it can help me in any situation, its fine for me that I use prepaid. The major drawback of a prepaid is that it doesn't work when there's no balance, and without that, just in case of emergencies - PREPAID FAILS! But why I prefer Prepaid is this thing - Postpaid always has some fixed charges - monthly minimum - and I bet I can do on prepaid without even paying that monthly minimum. It would be much surprising to many - but I usually pass my whole month in just Rs. 150 at max - that is nearly US $ 3.8 I suggest that who can control themselves very much but still are paying more than required for the monthly charges, must defintely go for Prepaid. Postpaid is good - but prepaid is more economical (as you have stated, already). That is why - I prefer prepaid. I hope what I said makes sense. Happy Mylotting. Nemo

thanks for explaining the benefit of both sides and some disadvantages. You're right about that. There's an alloted amount that you can avail as a postpaid user. I haven't thought of that. Thanks for bringing it up. happy mylotting.

I prefer using prepaid load in my cellphone because I don't send much sms and I don't call often when it's not necessary. I could control my phone expenses using prepaid and I don't like to add the stack of bills that needs to be paid. It just frees my mind. :) Happy myLotting! :)

For me i prefer to use prepaid than postpaid because i can control my expenses when im using prepaid. If i dont want to spend money for prepaid for a month i can do so..but if im using postpaid even if i dont use it for a month im still gonna pay my bills.

I use Pre Paid so i think prepaid is better. Post paid is okay but as long as you don't tend to sit on the phone for a longtime cause you wouldn't want to get the bill and go.... What!!! So yep Pre-Paid and post paid for people who can manage

I too am in favor of prepaid. I had some years back opted for post paid but the itemized bills used to show a much higher amount than what I felt I regularlly use. The hidden costs of postpaid is not that apparent. Now with an pre paid I am more happier and in control.

yeah, I bet only a few people can really control themselves of texting and calling bills. LOL and I'm sorry for myself that I'm not one of them. I'm happy there is prepaid for us. Happy mylotting.

I use both post-paid and pre-paid. For some reason, I have 3 post paid lines - Globe, Smart, and Sun. But when the unlitext and unlimited call started, I disposed my Sun post-paid since I am getting the same benefits for a pre-paid line. I kept my Globe post-paid instead. I agree. It is difficult to control. I only use my post-paid for work-related calls. Good thing my company is giving out phone allowance. Great day!

You are right!I used to do that before when i was still in my country. Its better because way we can control our calls and text messaging. But now we have family plan and i am always tempted to call my friends and relatives which cost so much.My hubby ended up paying the big bill.Sometimes i intensionally won't charge my phone so that i will not be tempted to call. Its different here when you send text and recieve you will be charge.Same as you call and receive calls also.

When mobile phones were first introduced, I just used prepaid but it soon became a hassle whenever I ran out of load in the middle of a call or a text conversation so I decided to switch to postpaid. It's also very handy in case an emergency, you have instant load. You don't have to go to a store to get a prepaid card. However when we temporarily moved abroad we gave up our postpaid lines since there was no international roaming for the little island where we stayed. We're back home now quite unexpectedly and are using prepaid again. Maybe next year we'll get a postpaid line again if we stay for good.

My mom gave me a dual sim phone for my birthday last year, and I use one prepaid and postpaid card. It's the most cost-efficient way of taking advantage of the phone, I think.
