Early this morning I heard my brother talking about his friend who just got a tattoo. He is also interested in having one. I want to hear your opinion regarding tattoos. Some say it's an art while others say it looks nasty on one's body. Tattoo enthusiasts have different reasons why they them. Are you in favor in getting a tattoo? If you were to get a new tattoo, what would you get?

You can say I am outdated, but I don't think it's cool to have a tattoo. In fact I feel a little bit scared to see it. I will never consider to have a tattoo for myself because of the pain. And one day if I am tired of it, it is impossible to remove it. I love China

i never like tattoo at all... so i never find it cool... i didn't see anything cool about it at all anyway... i am afraid of needles and the infections that it may cause to my body if i get a tattoo... so i prefer not to get any tattoo at all and let my body as it is... take care and have a nice day...

I am petrified about tattoos.I have read so much about people who get infected when it is not done properly that it really scares me.My son is so keen to get it done but I keep discouraging him.I have read that if it is not properly done a person could develop anything from a bacterial infection, like a simple boil with collection of pus, or viral infection, a deep seated fungal infection to a skin tuberculosis,Hepatitis B or HIV.

Hi ace_ivann, I do have tattoos on my forearm. I thought they were cool so I had them drawn in my skin with a witch, a wizard and a castel. I was so young and stupid. Lol. But I don't recommend everyone to get a tattoo or two because lately I found out that the ink contains poison and it harms the skin. After getting a tattoo in my forearm, I got a skin condition called eczema, just get dry skin spots in my elbows and at the back of my knees sometimes. Then I would apply some quarterzone cream in it and then it goes away again. For women who has a tattoo or two, I do not think females look sexy with tats. lol. Happy mylotting!

I wouldn't say I thought it was cool to get a tattoo but I like tattoos . I have two myself and would like to have another one . My tattoos mean something to me . I have one on my shoulder that of a heart with the word mom in it because to me being a mom is the most important thing I have ever accomplised and then I have another one on the bottom of my leg of two dolphins jumping out of the water , below is a four leaf clover done in four sections out of hearts with each of my childrens names in the hearts , on each heart is a little flower indicating the children that I miscarried and below that is more water . The two dolpins signify my husband and myslef as he is a fisherman and I just like dolping and the water signifies my daughter that is not my biological daughter but a child I took in as a teenager when her own family no longer wanted her to live with them . For me getting a tatto was to express what was most important in my life !! I would like to have another one done with my best friend as she would like to have one and we would like to get something that signifies our friendship and all that we have endured together over the years .

Hi samtaylorskykierajen! Wow, I am really amazed because you have many tattoos on your body. Each tattoo symbolizes something about you. Each tattoo also tells a story about your life. Getting a tattoo is a self-expression. It tells something about your views in life, your hardships, the happy moments that you are into and the trials which you encountered. Though, you don't say anything still your tattoos say it all.

I have two tattoos. I absolutely love them. I have two dolphins on my right thigh and a beautiful guardian angel on my lower back. I think tattoos are great if you really like them. Its your body and you have to live with it. To each their own I always say. Granted there are some tattoos out there that don't look very good but to that person it may be the greatest. I have a friend that has 19 tattoos. they look great on her. I also have another friend that has to many to count, they also look great on her. I personally am not one who wants a lot of tattoos. I would like to get two more though. One I know would be a scarab beetle because it means good luck and I haven't decided on the other one yet. Each tattoo usually has a meaning, and to some people this is their way of expressing it.

Hi shymurl! They say that our body is a canvass. And we can do anything to our body as long as we are happy with it. I'm still thinking of getting a tattoo...maybe a Chinese character on my arm. That must be so cool! I also think that the beetle scarab is a nice tattoo. I remember the scarab in the Pharaoh's pyramid. I agree with you that for some tattoos really have meanings and/or symbols. Let us just remember that we really have to think so many times before getting a tattoo because when you have it, it's really difficult to remove.

I would not get one for myself. If others want them, they are entitled. I just have seen some tattoo overkill and that to me isn't attractive. The tattoos with the multiple piercings are mutilations more than art. *my humble opinion*

Tattoos, I believe, are a personal preference. I have three in areas that can be easily covered, (ie, shoulder, ankle, upper arm) if need be. My daughter, on the other hand, has gone a bit overboard. With at least twelve and being a professional, occassionally the time arises where she needs to cover them and it becomes a bit impossible to cover them all. Keeping that in mind, use you head when deciding to get one and make sure you put it in a place that can be easily covered. Stereotyping still occurs in today's society and too many tattoos are a sure way to make people look at you in a different way. Afterall, we are not always as we appear.

Wow, what a loaded question! I have many tattoos and wish I had stopped at the first one. Every time a young person says something to me about getting a tattoo, I try to give them the benefit of my experience. Being female, it's very hard to hide the tattoos on my wrist and arms. If I go for a job interview, I have to wear long sleeves, even in the heat of summer. When my daughter married, it was so hard to find a dress to cover the tattoos on my arms and chest, and there are no dress shoes to cover the ones on my feet! If you are going to get tattoos, be reasonable and make sure they can be covered if need be.

I think getting a tattoo is great and all but I won't get any. Its not that I don't want too but I have no interest in getting a permanent piece of art on my body. If there's a tattoo which I can take off anytime, I'll take it! I'm a fan of tattoo. I like to see people who have it on their body. If I want to get a tattoo I would like something that is significant and a tribal designed tattoo.

Tattoos just as anything in life can be nice or they can be overdone. I think they look lovely if they are in an appropriate place and if there aren't too many of them. If I were to get a tattoo (which I have considered) it would have to be something meaningful. This is why I haven't gotten one yet. I have yet to decide what I would like to be on my body permanently.

Tattoos mean different things to different people. Seeing how far back they go culturally I can appreciate them, for me a tattoo is an extension of myself and of expression. I really do want to get a tattoo, what I'd get would be eight scales. Diamond shaped and green-blue colored, on my right shoulder blade. I like to joke that it'd be my only visible patch of armor. I want to accumulate the scales over time. You see, each scale would represent a day that was wonderful for me. And though most of them, I can no longer remember, I keep track of how many scales I can put on there, whenever I do finally get some tattoos, to remind me that I have experienced some good times, that I do have good things to look back on and look forward to. It's to help me stay out of leaning toward cynicism and negativity -- like armor against whatever bad I might experience in the future.

No offense but i don't agree. i just can't imagine how the tattoo would look when you reach the age of 70s or 80s. Also once you have a tatoo, you can be typecasted as a criminal in this country. Lastly, when you have a tatoo, you can't donate blood to those who need them.

well, i dont really think so. i find it untidy. i would allow piercing anywhere in the body but tattoo is just to much that i can take. it's like it's there for good. my boyfriend was thinking of getting a tattoo in his arm, somewhereand i don't want to interfere with his decisions.. but i did told him my opinion about getting a tattoo. and if he would get a tattoo, i wouldnt love him less.. it's just something that i would want to have it for myself..

I think tattoo is an art provided you don't simply get all the tattoos on all over your body. If you have tattoos all over your body,it will really look nasty and ugly. I wish to have one tattoo on my back near the waist part but I don't have the courage to do so. I am afraid of pain. Sigh.

some think it's cool mostly because they are young people. it's popular among the youth. nowdays people prefer to call tattoo 'fashion' than 'cool'. mark a butterfly on a lady's back will a charming decoration. enjoy your mylotting.
