I've been wanting one of those. When I had the money, I didn't have a catalog that had one in it, and when I found one in a catalog I just didn't want to turn loose of the money right then. I think those are a great kitchen aid!

Forgive my ignorance, but I haven't used or seen an electric can opener yet. What I use is the one that you twist around with your bare hand and they don't last either. In our household, the life span of a can opener is a little over than four months when used every once in a while.

Nope, I have never used an electric can opener. I figure that I am capable of twisting a little nob to open my cans, so didn't ever really feel the need for one. I did just get a great can opener from pampered chef. It is the kind that opens the can so you can't get cut on it..kind of like around the side of the top. I love it!

I use a manual can opener. I like it because when it gets dirty, I can just throw it in the dishwasher.

Hi, kellys3ps. Right now we only have a manual can opener. I have used an electric can opener that my husband once bought. I did not work like it should have. I would prefer to use a manual can opener it works more better to me just as long as it is not rusted around the blades.

We use a manual can opener. We don't even own an electic one. My grandmother has an electric one and I never can get that thing to work right for me. I know it's the operator (me) and not the can opener cause she can do it just fine. LOL

I use a manual can opener. I use manual items when ever possible. I dont mind the extra work and I hate dealing with cords. The manuals take a lot less space up in the kitchen too. My best advice though, Dont buy a cheap one. Spend the money and get a nice one and it will last.

I rather have my manual one. I use to own an electric one but then we just decided to buy a manual one once it broke and since we have been using the manual one.

I tend to use my manual can opener more often than my electric one. My electric one is
acting up and the thing falls off all of the time and I have a hard time putting it
back on and usually have to get my daughter to fix it. I don't have the patiences
anymore to try it so I just use the manual one now.
I hate electric can openers for two reasons. One is that the thing that opens the can
falls off, and I see this happens to a lot of people, because I clean houses and see
them apart on their counters. The second reason is because I hate cleaning them. They
should be cleaned after each use because a little bit of food can get on the blades
and will sit there and germs will build up and then when you go to use it again the
germs go into your food.
Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend,
Have a good mylotting day, Chris

when i left pittsburgh and moved to san francisco, my hospital co-workers
gave me a manual can opener. let's see that was 1971. they said there
will probably be a major earthquake soon and no electricity.
i'm still using it!
i've tried, in vain, to find one for my mother which is an easy-to-use
one for arthritic fingers. none of them seem to be easy enough to turn.
she claims the electric ones can never be cleaned well enough !

I use a manual one only because I can't afford an electric one.

I use a manual can opener because I can stick it in my sink and wash it! I don't like electric can openers because they are hard to wash and they get nasty grime built up inside the wheels and blade. Then that yucky gross grime gets on your new can of food every time you use it!!! Blech! I wouldn't get an electric can opener unless I could take it apart and clean it.

I inherited my mother's electric can opener that she had had for probably 10 years. It lasted another five years. Since then I've bought three new ones that lasted less than a year. I decided it was a waste of money and went back to the crank type.

I love my electric can opener. It's so much easier and convenient than the manual one. It stays in the same spot in the under the kitchen cabinet and I'll never lose it. I do have a manual one too but that's only for extreme emergencies.
