For the first time since I became a member here over 8 months ago!.
I am so amazed at myself that I just thought I would share it with you and see what you think, it is a blanket for a baby. I really put my heart into this, I knitted it with love if you know what I mean and so here it is all done!It only took me three weeks as well.
So truthful opinions, what do you think of this blanket?
Are you one that perseveres and finishes a project that you start?. Or are you one that gets distracted from it easily and has loads of unfinished things in your cupboard?

Well done Rose, the blanket looks impressive, and you have completed your project. You will be feeling very pleased wtih yourself im sure.I like a project too,but I would have to finish one piece of craft work before starting another. The materials used for most hobbies are expensive,so it would be extravagant to continue with another task befroe ending the first one!

Go Get 'em Rose. I have been doing fine arts rug hooking (that's the kind that isn't latchhook or primitive, done with a crochet needle). I had to stop because I developed "trigger finger" in my left index finger. Sometimes my index finger cramps up and sticks straight out from my hand. Hurts like the dickens, too. Since that's the hand I use to guide the wool to the needle and hold onto the fabric and hooking frame, I can't hook anymore. I was doing a really cool monkey, too. I guess this is just part of my arthritis. So now I'm on the computer all the time.

Well done in finishing off your project, I bet you are really pleased!!
When I start a project I like to finish it off but will do it in small stages as if I do it for too long, I find its hard for me to concentrate so I take small breaks. Its a great feeling looking at the completed project, knowing that all that hard work that you have put into it wasn't a waste!!
So....whats the next project goign to be??? lol

;growls cause i cant see the pic from email;
i tend to get a wee bit obsessive with projects.. and usually do absolutely nothing else until whatever project im working on is complete. more difficult with the home improvement projects because ive gotta wait to get certain things or just simply cannot find what i want anywhere.. so the project is put on hold until whatever is found.. and this drives me absolutely bats. to counteract this battiness.. i will move onto a new area that needs doing.. and then that is finshed as far as it can be until i find whatever it is thats needed to complete the job.. thus stalemating me once again until my entire frigen house right now is a hodgepodge of unfinished works in progress and NOTHING is complete!! ..;kicks and screams and assumes fit positions;..

I have always been the kind of person that gets bored of things really quickly, or something else comes along that seems a little bit more exciting. As a child my Mum would say it was because I was a typical Gemini. As the years have gone on my attention span has become worse and so I find I start more, finish less. Its a real big achievement for me to finish something, it is also an even bigger achievement for me to finish something and it to look so nice! I think you should stop kicking and screaming now you are going to do yourself a mischief.

I once started a baby blanket when I was expecting my toddler. I have no idea what happened to it, but I sure did not finish it. I haven't picked up a crochet needle since, lol.

My mom used to crochet, and began to teach me when I was young, although the lessons didn't stick. When I decided to make the baby blanket I bought a book and taught myself. The reason I never finished was because I had done it wrong, so it was more of a practice thing. I'm not very good and still have a lot to learn, and sadly I'm not a patient person, so doubt I'll ever learn it. I've never knitted, that seems very difficult to me.

Well done you!! things like that are always lovely because they are handmade and so much love has gone into making them! I am quite good at finishing things that i start, i don't really have any unfinished projects lying around, although there's so many things i think about doing that there are a few unstarted ones in my head!! xxx

That's a lovely blanket! I'd love to see the stitch pattern. It's a good feeling to finish something, isn't it?
Occasionally I'll start a project then never finish it, but mostly I like to finish what I start. It seems a terrible waste of time to put into something that's never finished. When I don't feel like finishing something, it's usually because I don't really like what I'm making, so it's ripped out or thrown away, even.

It is a really easy pattern to do and looks much more complicated than it really was.

It is really nice! I don't knit. I tried it and couldn't stick with it. You've done a great job.
I crochet afghans for Project Linus and it takes me about three weeks to finish one big enough for a teenager. I try to do one a month. But right now I'm making things for our church Holiday Bazaar in December so have taken a break from afghans.
What's your next project?

Well, I do have loads of unfinished projects, so I've learned to not start big projects because I don't finish them!
That's not to say that I don't pretty much give crafted projects for xmas every year, I've just learned to realize what size is too big for me.
Oh, and that blanket is BEAUTIFUL! That's one LUCKY baby! (and mom!)
I have to say that I craft mostly away from home (and my addicting computer) so I do know what you mean!

Thanx, I am really flattered that people think it is so nice, I am really proud of it. I am like you too, I go for things that are way too big and hard for my capabilities and then I cannot complete them.

Beautiful!
It looks like that is a somewhat raised pattern, making the squares. It really is stunning.
Congratulations. Who is the lucky baby?
I do sometimes start projects that I don't finish, but as you know I've done several afghans recently, and I keep starting more from yarn that I've ripped out from other projects. I am finishing each of them off as I get to the store for more yarn.

Thank you, the pattern came out really well, it is quite eye catching. Well I am thinking of selling it with it coming out so well, I have an idea of some other colours that might look well with this pattern. Just an idea but it might work. I have seen your afghans, they are really nice, although I have knitted on and off for years I still have a lot that I would like to learn, and do.

hey its really a nice work and you must keep it up. i really appreciate the handicraft work and i encourage others also to do it.
when i was in my college even i had designed work done on two of my dresses and i really like the handicraft work and i use to learn even in my schooling too. i always try to do some of the work so that i can use it as a show piece.
i think we have to learn a little of this kind of handicraft so that i can help us make our house look beautiful and also when we have babies.
and i think its a really good timepass on which we can spend time and also complete some work.

congratulations rose- the blanket is so beautiful! i would really love to learn how to knit. as for me, sometimes i put off projects and sometimes i finish- it just depends on my mood. i will often get distracted by other things and find it hard to go back to what i was doing.

That is gorgeous! How many hours of work did that take? I am so envious of people that can knit. Knitting needles are dangerous weapons in my hands - not coordinated at all.

Thank you, I think that there seems to be a difference in a piece of work if a heart has been put into it, instead of just doing it because I had too. You are writing a book are you? that is cool, I have just written a short story it just needs typing and editing.

The blanket is lovely. Congratulations on completing it!
I often start things and then push them aside. I don't know why, I get busy, I have an idea for something else. Sometimes it's because I'm not happy with how it's going, so I get discouraged. I haven't done any crafts in a long time, but I need to pick it up again soon. I have been thinking about it- that's the first step.

Thank you, I am so chuft with it! Normally I am a bit like you, I start something and then a better idea comes along and I will give up what I am doing to start on something else but this time I have stuck with it!

Wow no wonder it took you 8 months. It's beautiful. Don't be dismayed at the length of time it took you to finish. I have a nine patch quilt and a crocheted table cloth that my mother made. It took her nine years to finish each one of them.
I have unfinished projects everywhere, but I finish some. Some of them are either monotonous or so complex that they are frustrating, and some are just complex enough to keep me interested.
