I use a desktop. Mostly because I work from home and never really need to travel with my work. They are easier to troubleshoot too in case anything malfunctions. I could easily replace parts myself or have my techie boyfriend do it for me.I think when choosing between the two, one should consider his/her lifestyle, what you'll use it for and your budget in buying one. Choose laptops if you plan on traveling a lot and you have the budget for it because they generally cost more than desktops. As for power consumption I think laptops also consume less.

Really you work at home? What nature of work you have? Yes laptop is expensive but you can buy surplus laptop today. Right? In different part of computer what do you think use more power when your computer is on?

Yes. I'm a flash designer. I just send my work to via email or skype. I think if you're going to buy a laptop, the specifications should depend on your needs. For example if you're into designing, you need a powerful laptop computer for that. And that tends to be expensive. But if you are going to use it for just internet surfing and just writing documents and email then its better to buy the less expensive ones since you don't need a lot of power.

there is no question about that of course desktop for the main reasons. 1- more powerful then its laptop equivalent in all areas. 2- lives more than its laptop equivalent ( because of the heat that laptop computers cane take). 3- price of desktops and desktop accessory are more cheaper. the only benefit of laptops are the ability to carry them with you. but this is not a benefit for me as i rarely leave my room.

I have to choose a laptop my laptop can do more and store more than my desktop computer plus it is portable, and I am not tied down to one place. I can play high end games with my laptop which I can also do with my desktop.

I prefer laptop. I can bring it whenever I want to sit or where I am comfortable to use it. I leave my laptop on 24 hours. Since I had my laptop, I only shut it down once or twice..hehe. I usually leave it on. I am not sure which one is lesser consuming power. But for me laptop is better than desktop.

I have had both and liked both. I really prefer my desktop for important things like work and school business duties. However, I love the convenience that a good laptop has to offer too. I now only have a desktop but hope to buy a new laptop in the next few months so that my kids can use the computer some while I am working on my desktop.

Quite good that laptop was dominating the choice of most people probably because you can carry laptop any where you go. You can make email, chatting, make some multimedia presentation in a rush situation. Its really comfortable when you have a laptop.

I choose my desktop because it's easier to use and more powerful, ehem. It's less powerful than my laptop, but for me it's easier to use since I'm just at home doing stuffs. But then, about power consumption, laptops take less power than desktops, probably because they are compact and I've read it somewhere that for us to be able to go green, we have to use laptops.

I use desktop because I have to work in my shop and I required some hardware which are not available in laptop. I think laptop is the best for those who mostly travel or who those don't have much space. Laptop is easy to take from one place to other. So its time for laptops.

Thank you for all great opinion you said on my topic. I learn lots of details about the two computers. Maybe its true laptop was not good for long use because of heat. Since im using my desktop for so long. It was tested to run as much as 20hrs of playing time. My monitor could not stand too much heat cause I did not also use aircon at home. That is also the reason that I already change two monitor every year. But not my cpu, my cpu have three fan running except its processor and vga fans. One fan at the side of my cpu, two at the back including the power supply fan. Plus if the air that comes out at the cpu is hot I use my electric fan to help much more the processor fan to cool down the heat. While laptop meant for business transaction were ever you might be cause you can bring it every where. I dont have laptop yet, but I hope i can buy one in the future. I also have a concern about desktop that consume less power. I hope he can tell me what kind of desktop is that? Also for the laptop that consume more power. I hope he can response. What kind of laptop is that? So that i can avoid those laptop that consume more power.

I think laptops or more appropriately notebooks are more comfortable than desktop. The price also pretty much the same nowadays. Laptops are handy, easy, consumes less space. The power consumption does not differ much either. I would suggest that you go for laptops. Good luck!

I use a "Desktop replacement" laptop. A large, heavy Alienware branded beast. It cost more than an equivalent specced desktop, but I needed to work remotely so I figured it was worth the extra. Part of me thinks if I was to do it again I would go with equivalent desktop and middle of the range laptop, but I do enjoy the odd gaming weekend at a friends and I'm no so sure a mid ranged laptop would handle that. As to power consumption, depends on the devices. You can get very low power desktops, and very power hungry laptops (like mine).

I use laptop when I am here downstairs, well for me laptop consumes less, you know why? because when I will use the desktop, which is in our bedroom, I have to turn on the air conditioner because it is so hot there unlike here downstairs where there are fresh air. Seriously though, if you will notice when you will use a desktop you have to use a monitor which you to plug in separate with the CPU, it seems like you are using two different appliances or electrical thing at a time, unlike when you use a laptop, you only plug one cord. I hope I had helped

even though laptops are costly, i would prefer them. we can carry them any were and we can use them comfortably. even though your are a gamer, u have many good laptops now than what we use to have before. if you want to buy a gaming laptop go for alien ware. i would also avoid desktops in the house because they do occupy lot of space. i would go for laptops even though they are expensive then desktops.

Although desktop coomputers usually have more space on them than laptops, laptops are portable, and that alone decides it. Laptops are better, because you can use them almost anywhere. :D
