Oh Yes definitely there should be a legal age limit. On the top of it, its parents responsibility to ensure that their kid doesnt become a reckless driver.
He should be compassionate not just about the speedy cars but also about careful driving.
He should be responsible enough to care about his own as well as others life.
So just a legal age limit won't do, parents should also have some control beyond the age limit.

No they should be able to go on them whenever there parents think it is not safe. They do not go on the road and if they are wearing a helmet them are safe. It will give them some practice of driving for when tehy drive on the road when they are older. I don't think they are allowed though cause I think it is against the lawa for kids to be on them now though.

as far as i know - each state DOES have minimum age requirement, and safety tests that have to be passed in order to ride them
i think that they are a very good pre-driving training tool - if you teach them the rules of the road before they get ON THE ROAD - they will have the skills and the practice that they need

Each state may have a legal age as we have one now as well but there never used to be a legal age limit for this when I was growing up and I was curious to see what others thought on an age limit .
Thank you for your response .

Hello there samtaylorskykierajen
I think it should be the same all round for all vehicles really even motorcylces. In the UK you can a small motorcycle at the age of 16 anything bigger than a 50cc it is 17 then you can drive anything upto 149cc I think it is and then you have to pass your test. For a car you have to be 17 to learn and drive. I think 18 seems to be a more responsible age. Quadbikes are exceptionally dangerous and I have had read about many accidents in the newspapers from this vehicle.

They actaully can be dangerous because my husbands cousin was in an accident when he was younger and will be in a wheel chair for the rest of his life as a result .

I would say that the actual age you allow your children to drive these vehicles is ultimately up to each parent. For myself, I would let them ride as soon as 8 years of age. They have smaller atv's for littler children so it is not so much of a worry. The sooner they learn to handle them the better, because they will be less likely to hurt themselves recklessly in their later years. I think a child learns faster when they are younger, and they also learn to respect these vehicles much more when they are younger. If you wait until they are older they will be less likely to have a healthy fear and respect for those machines and be more likely to try something stupid because they don't truly know their own limits.

I was curious to see how others felt on this as the legal age in Canada is 16 ( I think , it might be 18 but I believe it is 16 ) and wanted to see how others felt regarding this as when I was younger there was no age limit and it was something we enjoyed doing but is now something that children are not allowed to do anymore :)
Thank you for your response .

That is a good question. I think for sure there should be some safety course. I don't really know what would be a good age. I think maybe it might depend on where it would be ridden and what kind of supervision they will have. I have seen young kids get badly hurt because they could not handle these things. I have also seen adults killed too. These things are heavy as well as big. Maybe there should be an age limit. Kids don't always listen to safety concerns of their parents.

ummm i would say 18, that's what i think , kids are mature enuff, they act up, and i know people who have lost the use of their legs on these things.

Hi sam...
My grandsons 6 and 4 have the 4-wheelers for their size...they are the battery powered ones..
I don't think they should be able to drive the gas powered ones...
I got an email from a friend about a month ago and her boyfriends 8 year old daughter was killed after the 4 wheeler landed on her...
The Adults have to supervise the kids when they are using 4 wheelers..I think the gas powered ones are dangerous and the kids go way to fast and they don't know the terrain and they are easy to tip over....especially 3 wheelers...
