Where do you fold your laundry?

I was folding my laundry a little bit ago and I started wondering where other people fold their laundry. I get the clothes out of the dryer in my basket and carry it to our bedroom. Then I take them out and lay them on the bed. I then hang some of my shirts and jeans and then fold the rest. I fold everything else and lay it on the bed and then when I'm done I go put away all the clothes. Then I'm ready for the next load. So where do you fold your laundry at?

i usually fold my clothes in the living room while watching tv. we have a large leather ottoman that i use to fold the shirts or big towels, then when i am done i stack them in the laundry basket and bring them up to our bedrooms and put them away. i keep telling my hubby that when we build our house i want an actual laundry room where i can do all the wash and folding and ironing all in the same place so i don't end up with clothes in various stages scattered everywhere. but it will have to have a tv in there as well! lol

We have a tv in our bedroom where I fold ours and I usually have that on while I'm folding.

I usually fold it on top of my dryer. I will take a load out and fold what needs to be folded, neatly lay out what I need to hang, and then I get hangers and hang the stuff up. When I am done folding one load, I put all the clothes away and hang everything up that needs to be hung. Then I move on to the next load. It helps since my washer and dryer are in the hallway right across from my room. It makes it easier to fold it right there. Plus that way I know that I won't get my clothes all wrinkled because I fold them right after they are done drying.

Fold laundry? What's that? haha My husband and I are a couple of slobs. We just throw the laundry into the basket when it's done, and leave it there till we use it, throw it in the hamper to wash it, then throw it back in the basket, and the cycle begins again. hahaha

Too funny! I used to do that when I was single. I would wash it, dry it and then just throw it in a basket where it would stay til I needed to wear it, then start the cycle all over again.

I single and live alone and usually have at most 1 load a week because I plan it that way and have enough of what I wear to last two weeks and can alternate the type of load, like whites or shirts etc. So I carry the load from the dryer the short distance to my bedroom and fold the load on the bed.

I am with you on folding clothes on your bed. If I do them there I will have to put them away so I can sleep! It actually works well because if I get busy and don't have time to put them away all away, hubby will help me. I used to fold them on the couch and they didn't get put away as often.

Yeah...we can't go to sleep unless they are all put away so that kinda makes me have to put them away.

I usually iron all clean clothes and hang them. I never fold laundry except my husbands jeans and boxer shorts. Other than that i normally iron it and hang it on our closet.

Usually my laundry either gets folded in my bedroom or living room depending on what home I'm currently at and how much room I currently have. When I am at my apartment, all laundry is folded in my bedroom because it's easier for me to put everything away since my dresser is there. At home, I'm usually getting ready to come back to school so my laundry gets folded in my living room.

I do all the washing and drying before I fold anything. From the dryer, each load goes straight to my bedroom where it waits on my bed until the rest of the laundry is done. When I'm ready to fold, I make individual piles of folded clothes on the floor (laundry day is also the day I clean and vacuum my room since that's where all the clother...clean and dirty...are kept, so the floor is clean). My folded piles go in order of the dresser organization. My youngest son's dresser has 3 drawers...shirts in the top, pants in the middle and pj's in the bottom. The older two have matching dressers with shirts in the top, pants in the middle and winter clothes in the bottom, socks and underwear are kept in small bins (used to be a toy organizer) and their pj's are on a shelf above their dressers. All of my clothes go on hangers and s/o has a dresser with garage shirts and underwear in the top, nice shirts in the 2nd, garage pants in the 3rd, and good pants in the bottom. So if you were sitting behind me while I folded you would see this: 9 piles directly in front of me, 3 wide by 3 deep, one row for each boy in order of their dressers, to the left of the clothes go the older boys folded pjs in two piles and their socks and underwear in a 3rd at the bottom (so it becomes a 4 across 3 high rectangle). On the right I put s/o's clothes in the oder of his dressertop to bottom. Once piles get high I put them in dressers. After all the folded clothes are put away I hang up mine and I'm done. The reason I have such a big "system" is so the boys can easily put things away in the right drawers just by looking at the order they are in. They migt only be 5, 3 and 22 months but they are all expected to help...although the littlest one does the most because he has a helper personality. (he puts his dishes in the dishwasher when he's done eating and we didn't actively teach him that yet!)

For a while I was taking everything out and carrying it upstairs to my room as well. But then things kept coming up, I'd get busy doing something else and forget that I needed to fold them so they would sit and get wrinkled after a while. So now I fold them as I pull them out of the dryer, then I carry them upstairs and put the away. I hang my towels, blankets and sheets outside to dry so those I fold as I take them off the line.

We have three Labrador retrievers who seem to get hair everywhere, no matter what we do. For this reason we fold and hang all of our laundry right in the laundry room, and then take it directly to put away.

I usually fold it at the kitchen table. There's just more room there for my to sort it into a few different piles for myself, the hubby and the two little ones. Then towels, sheets and pillowcases, etc. Folding and putting away laundry is my least favorite chore. It's so pointless to me, seeing how we are just going to wear the clothes again and have them wind up in the laundry, so why go through the trouble of folding them and hanging them up, but it has to be done.

usually i will do in my room too on my bed. cause i do fold laundry while watching television in side the room . cause i want some entertainment while i am doing the fold on my laundry. but sometimes i just do it outside the room where i am doing something else besides doing or foldindg the laundry. so i have no one place to do it. but i do prefer to do it in side the room most of the time cause i want to put it straight in the cabinet after doing some fold. i don't fold it all at once then keep it on the or tranfster them inside the cabinet. i just some then put them in the cabinet then fold some clothes again and put it again on the cabinet. so in that way it will not be going to over crowded on my bed with those folded clothes.

I do my laundry at the laundromat and so I fold it there. I put my sons things in a pile and mine in another and then my husbands and the towels etc and then load it back into the hampers and bring it home to put away! ~Heavens~

How often do you have to go there? Do you just wait until there is a lot of dirty clothes and then take them or do you have to go a lot?

I have a tub next to my dryer that is full of hangers. I fold the clothes and lay them on top the washer and dryer as I take them out. I hang the ones that need to be hung. Then I carry them and put them away. I liked the idea of carrying them to my bed though I could watch tv and fold clothes, maybe think of that the next time I go to folding them. It just seems easier to have the hangers there as I take them out.

well, we usually fold our clean clothes in front of the television.hehehe we fold it while watching TV or a movie, that way the stressful work made easier, and in the living room, everyone can help, whoever is watching TV also contributes to the folding of the clean clothes, so the work is easier and faster! but sometimes, my mom just fold it herself in the bedroom.

Hi, I will carry the load of dry clothes up to our bedroom and lay them all on the bed, just like you. I will then switch on the TV (facing our bed), sit on the bed and watch movies which I fold clothes (which is such a boring task)!

even i do it the same, after the clothes are dry i bring them to the bed and fold them or else if i have watch something on tv i just bring them to my hall and simultaneously by watching tv i fold them as my work is also done and i did not miss my show too. but it really takes time folding clothes, placing in different compartments and all.

I do just exactly what you do. I put all on the bed then my daughter helps me, she's only 6years old. That way I can bond and teach her how to do it.

My son usually tries to help me too. He's 2 years old so I just let him fold something and then I'll refold it when he's not looking. At least he is trying to help me and he's learning how to do it in the process.
