I love Nintendo. I hate that Sony and Microsoft ever got involved in the console industry. Yes, I buy Sony's TVs, Discmans, etc. I buy Microsoft's PC's and peripherals. But I WILL NOT give them my money for a playstaion or xbox. There are many reasons for this, among them are
1. I feel that Nintendo respects me as a consumer/fan and genuinely wants me to have fun, where I feel that Sony and Microsoft are in it PURELY for the money, and have no regard for me.
2. I feel that Nintendo has the best console on the market. I am not convinced that the Wii is incapable of producing the same graphic quality as the other consoles. I think they just don't care to do so, and I'm fine with that, because graphics are one of the last things I consider in buying a game. It is innovative, it fulfills a life-long dream of every gamer. And it has bonus features that I love.
3. Nintendo deserves my respect for rescuing the home comsole gaming industry, by taking a major risk at a time when the video game industry in general had given up the idea. Sony and Microsoft entered into on a lark to expand their profits at times when the industry was growing rapidly.
4. While Nintendo has made some business blunders, some of which have disappointed me, their mistakes are usually made in an effort to do what they expected would be best for the fans. Sont and Microsoft's errors are almost always based on being cheepskates or rushing ahead of themselves.
5. Nintendo has kept alive the true spirits of gaming: interactive fun, whimsy, adventure, etc. where the others push the industry ever onwards toward mindless violence and shallow amusement.
These are just some of my reasons. Is there anyone else out there who's tired of hearing about how Nintendo is "behind the times" and "just for kids" ?
Is there anyone with a good reason to disagree with me? I'm tired of just making snipy comments to people, I want to really see this talked out for once.

2. "I am not convinced that the Wii is incapable of producing the same graphic quality as the other consoles." - good grief that can simply be proven by looking at the hardware. The Wii has never tried t say it is as powerful as either of the other two machines because it isn't. Saying it isn't is not trashing it, just is what it is.
3. These are just random, ill informed statements that you have no clue about.
5. I cannot stand Nintendo games, most of them are childish and boring. I cannot stand the motion controls. Also, Nintendo has the "mindless violence" games which you complain about on their system as well. Scarface the game would be their equivalent to GTA.
Who the hell days Nintendo are behind the times? Their console currently outsells all of the others.

On 3: During the mid to late seventies there were many attempts to produce home consoles, most of which were very "innovative" (i.e.weird), but none of them were successful. The industry labeled the atari a fluke, and decided it was best to stick to arcades. For four years, no one made any attempt to touch the idea. Then Nintendo started work on the Famicon, and it was an immediate success.
This I know because my local science center did a massive, in depth, study on the history of video games. There was a whole floor of the building taken up with weird old systems and arcade games, including stuff like Tron, and an odd system designed to work with differing "frames" and color pallets laid over a blank light-screen.
I believe it was when Nintendo first started development for the N64 that they had talks with Sony about making a CD-drive for their next system. At some point, Nintendo decided they wanted to stick with cartidges, and Sony was left with a CD-drive sitting around. That is when Sony decided to make the Playstation. Business blunder on Nintendo's part, random reason for Sony to make a system.
Microsoft entered the consoles wars at a time when Sega's systems were trailing, leaving a gap in the battle field while the industry was still growing, an excellent business move on their part to take advantage of it. With three successful competitors in the market, and the Dreamcast poorly received, Sega stopped making consoles.
So now, instead of two video game companies competing, we have one game company, one computer company, and one general electronics company, and both of them have had serious issues with what they've ended up producing since then (over-heating mainly what I'm thinking of).
Does that sound less "random and ill-informed" now?

I'm definitely agreeing with you here. I really think playstation and xbox are just sad attempts to hook people in and make people stray from nintendo (the best gaming company ever) to them so they can make a bigger and better profit. Nintendo however always releases great games, great consoles and does so with the fans in mind, not profits. Bigger and better graphics don't mean anything to me either. In fact I think the graphics on most game consoles are terrible. They try to make them life like but they go so overboard they just look sad.

I've had just about every Nintendo system but the Game Boy Color, DS, and Wii. So far I can say that they have been pretty good to me on that. I know that Nintendo has never been about pushing graphics to the extreme levels that you see now. It's always been more about the quality of the game itself and can it be enjoyable.
It does get tiresome but then you tune out what they say about Nintendo. You like what you like and that is all you can do.

Nintendo Gameboy is great. I have used it. I have also used PSP. I'm talking in terms of portable consoles because I have not used Wii, so I can't comment on it. But as far as comparison between Gameboy Advance and PSP goes, PSP wins hands down. The sole reason being the graphics. Don't think that there are no innovative games for the PSP. There are many games which will make you go bald by letting you tear your hair out trying to solve the puzzles. There are some games which test your reaction time. It's how you look at the games that makes you have an opinion about it.
Most people like to play graphic filled games and they derive that fun by playing on a PSP or a PS2 or PS3. Also, these companies ventured into the gaming industry because they thought that they could reach out to the other half of the people who like to have high graphic game on the go. And they have delivered well enough. The after sales services of such companies, atleast here are very good. So you cannot blame them saying that they are here just for the money.

I have only this to say...
If Sony's Playstation and Microsoft's Xbox haven't been released, there's not much variety of games around, and we'll be stuck on what nintendo has to offer. Not much fun, isn't it?
I am a nintendo fan actually, and not having a gamecube and a wii is a big thing for me as a gamer. I only have a DS(good thing I did good in college and got it as a gift). But then all of them are in it for the money, because they are a BUSINESS.
And yeah, Wii offered a new way of gameplay and disregarded graphics. I'm agreeing on that.
And the third one....hmm...yeah, Nintendo was there from the very beginning. That is why they are dedicated solely into games. Sony, on the other hand, has just been struck with the idea of using the CD for gaming. Microsoft went in for the moolah.
I have no comment on the fourth statement.
On the fifth...uhh...Actually, it's the developer of games who does that. It's not the responsibility of the console manufacturer if the developers can only think of violent games while the Nintendo developers keep it in the safe route. And yeah, I also have interactive fun, whimsy and adventurous feeling playing my Playstation, is there something wrong with that?
I have nothing against you. If you love Nintendo, suit yourself. But if you are a true gamer, then love the diversity of games around. If only my pocket could handle it, I would have bought all consoles, because I want variety. I want to experience all that they could offer me. There's nothing wrong with that.
I don't agree with the statement that Nintendo is behind the times. They choose a path that's different from the others, because they want variety. They don't want HD graphics, they want something gamers looked for a long time ago, and that is total interaction with the games, to be able to feel the game in a personal way. Man, if I can only have a Wii...*drooling*.
And hey, don't blame me for buying my consoles, my dad does the job. I just play. Heehee.

Well I don't mind Nintendo. I have DS system. But I see no reason to ever by the Wii. There isn't one game they have put out that I wanted. I love the Sony Playstation, but the company is seriously pissing me off, with all this crap with the PS3. Only some are compatible, so we are only going to make a certain amount. Charge too much cause we added blue ray that no one wants. Blah blah blah. But they have some of the best games! But now they are coming over to the X-Box, so even that doesn't matter too much, except for all the playstation 1 and 2 games that I own and want to continue to play. Heck most I haven't even finished yet.
And well I didn't like the idea of microsoft getting into the gaming business either but...since they are going to be putting out more roleplaying games(which is what I play exclusively) because many of the companies that only made for playstation are coming over, well X-Box it is then. Plus they will have sold me over completely when I can play netflix movies online on them. My computer is too old and I can't use the play now function. But now I will be able to thanks to X-box in October. I can't wait.
So I really don't have anything against Nintendo, but they just don't issue games for it that I play.
