My computer is almost never switched off, neither in the hibernation mode. Just because I'm always busy with it, and when I'm away for a couple of minuites, I don't wanna start everything up again!
But ofcourse, I do shut my computer down when I go asleep! Because I think my computer deserves a little bit of resting time as well! which is ofcourse important for an computer ! Though it is just 10 hours, the computer will rest! And I will save a little bit of electricity as well! LOL

Haha really?? I never forget..my computer makes quite some noise, and it's near to my bedroom, so I usually never forget to shut him down..Ever considered of using a timer for automatic shut off on your computer? Usually you can find that as freeware!

I would put my laptop on standby mode when I am sure that I will be using it again later. But most of the time,I would just switch it off because I scare I will forget to off it. There were a few times when I forgot to switch off my laptop and I fall asleep. I only realized it the next day. After that incident,I am more alert in switching off my laptop. Lol.

I used to hibernate my laptop as it will take less time to start the laptop. Stand by mode? hmmm.. I don't like it as it still consume a lot of power. Last time I set my laptop in standby mode if I left it for 10 - 15 min. If more than that or overnight, I will set it to hibernate.
Now, as I need more spaces in my hard disk, I disable hibernate and just switch off my laptop. I can save around 1 - 2 GB of spaces!

You get me right. If you go to Power Options Properties, You can see how much disk space you require for hibernation under Hibernate tab. In my case, I require 2GB of disk space.

Unless I know for a fact that I won't be using it for a long period of time, I usually put both my PC and laptop on standby. I am then able to come back and pick up where I left off easily, and don't even have to close all my open programs.

I leave the PC on 24 hours a day as I have programs that need it's attention 24/7. I do however shut down the monitor and the speakers to save on the electric bill. I've a desktop PC by the way.

Usually I switch it off. Sometimes, when I leave it on to do something else, then it goes into sleep mode. I had one incident though in which I though I hit the "U" key while shutting down, but I actually hit the "H" key and I had my laptop on hibernate overnight. I didn't find out until the next day... I'm definitely more careful about it now.

once i had a similar but slightly different incident and i thought that the laptop entered the hibernation mode but it didn't and when after 2-3 hours i brought it out of the bag then it was so hot that i had to place it near the ac and cool it down.
now, i check the fan air before putting it in the bag!!

Turn off computer are you kidding !! I almost never turn my computer off or put it into hibernation mode !! If I don't have my computer turned on I feel like one of my lifeline is switched off !! Mostly I restart my computer when ever it gets too slow and cannot process anything lolz !!
