I think it's not a good idea at all to have a housemaid at home, doing all the household chores. I have seen many examples. My aunt is having a housemaid at her house, her children do not need to do anything at home. Now her son is going out from home to further his studies. He is facing difficulty in settling his own things such as washing clothes, tidying up his bed room and sorts. These are the consequences of having a housemaid at home. Lol. How about you? What do you think? Do you think is a good idea to have a house maid at home? Are you having one at home? Please tell me more, thanks.

Having a house maid does not mean that you become totally dependent on her. You should be capable of doing your work yourself.

Hi yenwie84, That will be heaven for me as I cannot do much because of my health and it would be nice to have some do every thing for me, my husband works and he is useless at doing things and he is out most of the time, yeh it would be nice to have some one doing the cooking as well, but we cannot afford such things so I struggle and if I had a choice yes I really love to have a housemaid. Hi yenwie84 I agree with you if you have a full time maid then you are always releying on them to take care of things and you nor you children will learn responsiblity to keeping your own home up. I do understand some familes have to have one because both parents have a hetic job sechdule but in those cases you should make sure your child has chores and have that maid/nanny enforce them just for reasons like you stated hes leaving and has always depended on someone else to do everything for him.

there are disadvantages and advantages of having housemaid at home. advantage is that you can lighten the burdens in household chores, you dont have to worry on things at home when you are in your work place coz you are sure its been worked of already. but there are disadvantages too, one of which is the problem of your aunt's children. i my self testify on that matters since when i was a child we have housemaid she is the one who makes things for me but now that we dont have one, at my age today i dont even know how to cook food and wash my clothes. and worst is that when you dont even know your housemaids they would make advantage when there is no one at home but her she used the our telephone to make long distance calls. our telephone bill was so big that my mom was pissed she let her pay the bill through her salary and after she pays it we let her go.

If you are having a compact house you can afford to stay without a house maid. But If you have a big house it's impossible as when you go to do the cleaning, cooking everything by yourself there won't be a time for anything else. So what I suggest is you have to train your kids to clean up their room, wash their cloths and dishes, cooking even though you have a maid. Then they get use to do all that. My mom had 2 maids when we were kids but she trained us to do everything.

Hi there! We are a working couple and it becomes difficult to find enough time to execute house hold tasks, therefore, we make do with a part time housemaid. She does all the utensils, cleaning, moping, brooming besides washing our clothes. When she does not turn up, everything goes topsy-turvy and we just become restless. She is most important than any other guest in our house.............LOL!

Hi yenwie, We have no housemaid even before...We were only 4 in the house and Mom is a full time housewife..We divide and help each other with the household chores! When everyone is working, I guess it is ideal to have a reliable housemaid which is very hard to find this time, I mean, I know we can but we also have to have enough budget for them.. Here, we cannot afford that..LOL! So, hubby and I helped with each other to accomplish whatever we need to do in the house!

I think in other countries, it is very inexpensive to have a house maid, or a maid for your house as we would say it in the United States. So if you can afford it, the more power to you. I have recently experienced first hand living in the Philippines, and I know it would be very easy for me to bring someone from here home and have them as a housekeeper. But in the United States it would cost a lot more.

I do not like the idea of keeping a housemaid at home. My house is locked up for 12 hours a day because there is no one at home. And I am not able to adjust the timings of a housemaid coming and doing the work and going. And I dont think they do a good job when we are not at home. So I prefere me doing the housework myself.

hi yenwie84 we seldom use maids here in the US among the middle class and working class as we cannot really afford them so we all do it ourselves. so we are more apt to be self sufficent when we do go out on our own. I would love to have a maid to do the dishes and clean my apartment but could never afford ther so shall have to do it myself. lol lol lol lol.I could sure live with it if I could afford a maid. I would love to let her do some of the tedious tasks.

I don't like to have a housemaid at home, because I don't feel easy to have a total stranger in my house. Now, my son knows how to cook, washes his school shoes...because we don't use a housemaid. He can take care of himself wherever he goes now.

Housemaid is a good thing when you are often busy. It is a matter of how you discipline your kids when it comes to teaching them about household chores. It doesnt mean that because we have a housemaid i will not teach my kids to do there chores too. Housemaid are just needed for now that we dont have much time to cook and clean the house. And we needed someone who will also watch over our baby while were at work. But as they grow older everything will change. I will definitely make sure that they are the one who clean there clothes and keep there room clean. Even if housemaid is around we dont actually rely on them in keeping the whole house clean. They are just there to help us on chores that we can no longer do because we are preoccupied with work. Aside from that we also needed our time to rest when we are home.

I think only if you really and i mean REALLY need it then you should get one. Like if you are handycap you are sure to get one for cleaning and stuff.

It really depends on both the housemaid and the house owner. In our case our housemaid is already 25 years with us. She is really dedicated and untiring in taking care of us and doing house chores for us. She's almost like a second mother to us. She does her work very well and I really do appreciate it a lot. Also she wouldn't have lasted that long if my mother wasn't really good. So for me it's about both helping each other for the good of all the people living in the house.

we use to have a servant for cleaning the house and doing a little kitchen work but she she use to come daily home in the morning and finish all work and there was a small girl to play with childrens. but i think if you have a house maid you need to be very carefull about your personal and expensive belongings. and i think we on our own have to set up some of our personal things and not the maid, due to safety measures. and morever if we have more family members it is not possible to depend on one housemaid. all the house work, cleaning, and kitchen should be done by her and a little atleast our cupboard should be set by us. dont you think so?

I would say is good to have the maid if we have big family, like parents and brother sisters stay together even they have get marriage. I have friends in that situation and guess what, they do have around 3 maids. Each of the maid have owns task to carried out and what i can see is the maid never have ending tasked to be completed. It helps the family like that because they all no need to prepare for the household chores but only focus to earn more money. =)

I think that having a housemaid at home is not really a good idea. i think that the children will tend to get lazy and not learn anything at all. i think sometimes they have to be independent., But somehow, i seen many kids with a housemaid and they are still quite independent and not spoil. I think it all depends on how the parents teaches them.

I grew up with a househelp but my mom sees to it that all of us children know how to do house chores. So when there came a time that the helper is no longer available, us siblings do the house chores. And when all of us have already a job and gets too busy, a helper is very good but that does not mean you don't have to work in the house anymore. That's why we call the maid a househelp to help us unburden the load. Gone are those days when these people are treated like slaves by the masters. When we employ househelps we help those who are un employed. Househelps are paid less in the Philippines so even the lower income families can afford to have one.
