But you have NO choice except to be 100% on your game? I have just returned from a long and very important business meeting that required all my concentration and efforts yet I just didn't feel up to it whatsoever. I had no choice but to put on a brave face and a big act and power through it regardless. I am not normally like this but I had a crap night's sleep and I was just not in the mood to be negotiating with people. The worse thing was that I couldn't reschedule it either because the main contact had flown in especially for this. It all ended up fine I guess but now I have a massive amount of work to do and right this minute I just couldn't be a@@ed! God I hope I feel more upbeat tomorrow about it all! This is so not me and I am usually very energetic and fired up, but today my mojo went on holiday's I think! What about you? Have you ever had to face important things on days you would rather not? Did it end up fine or was it really obvious that you would have much rather been somewhere else?

Before I retired I worked with old people and the job was residential so I could not get away from it. I had days like you have just had but I just had togrin and bear it. I had to be on my toes as people can be a handful to care for. Some of them were really lovely people but some of them were really miserable and nothing you did pleased them and that was not good on a bad day. Now my husband and I are retired, we have not got much money but we can please ourelves what we do and ifwe have an off day we do not need to do anything. It is great. Just think when you have a bad day you are working for the time when you can please yourself.

Your retirement does sound great wanderer! I have quite a few years left before I can consider the same unfortunately but I am defibnitely looking forward to living my life on my own terms. Money sure as heck isn;t everythng and as long as I am comfortable and able to make choices freely I will be more than happy. Thanks for responding and I wish you continued enjoyment in life always!

We are all human, we all have those days and you, my friend were entitled to yours. I am glad you survived It's all according to what you make of it. It is rough doing something when you don't feel good, either phsically, mentally, or emotionally. It is rather difficult to put yourself in a positive state of mind when you just don't give a d@mn. There have been days where I feel just as you have described. Some days, I choose to let EVERYTHING get to me. I will snap at everyone for no reason (other than I feel like making everyone else miserable because I am) I have gone so far as to tell my co-workers (some of whom are my friends outside of work) not to talk to me. My day gets progressively worse. The days that I choose make the best of it, laugh at myself and try not to let everything get to me, it seems to go much better for me (and everyone around me) So, in the end, it is all about state of mind and how you want to feel about yourself. I hope the rest of your week is better

The days not even over yet dizzblnd but I am sure I will survive it! I have been pretty damn close today to those behaviours you have shared actually! And to make it even worse, the traffic in Cairo today was absolutely horrific so it took an hour to get to the meeting and almost two hours to get back. 99 days out of 100 I am an upbeat and extremely optimistic guy but I guess the lack of sleep and a few other stresses ending up getting me today so I will now focus on the other 99! Thanks for responding to the discussion and I hope your week is a good one as well.

Oh yes, this happens to me many times. But the fact that I have started to live life differently has given me so much strength and motivation that I hardly allow those occasions to take over. So, even when I am stressed, down, fidgety and also with a terribly bad hair day I try to be there. Kudos to 'biting life back' and to those sharper teeth that I'm infallibly a fighter.

Oh that day sucked I can tell you! But it is history now thank goodness. Maybe I should have gone off screaming myself actually. lol. Yes, we know you have the sharp teeth now and bad hair can always be hidden by a hat so all we have left to work on is our attitude towards life! The more positive we can be the greater chance we have, we just get tested once in a while is all! Thanks for responding mimpi.

hi dear james it perhps has happened for the first time!! well the life is an experience such moments will and do arise. not to get disheartened!! i hope you have heard of ratan tata, the man of nano car that 2500 dollars car fame. he has to dig out the entire plant and machinery not only belonging to him but along with all the vendors!! but he used it as an opportunity and played his cards so well that more than 10 state chief ministers have offered him alternate sites at better terms!! and he has come out a winner!! so let the adverse moments be your opportunity to learn and emerge stronger!!

Hi Kushank, it's not the first time but it is still an unusual way for me to be feeling! I most certainly know Ratan Tata and have even dealt with a number of his companies back in India when I lived there. He is one heck of a businessman and a master of diversity! I appreciate all your uplifting comments and I am sure that I will wake up tomorrow feeling much better than I do today. Thanks for responding and keep the powerhouse attitude always!

Its quite obvious you are facing it for the first time..I had to face it so many times..I felt like I would rather sleep whole day due to lack of energy but instead I had run up to villages with my other NGO co-workers and advice the peple there when I myself felt so out of sync I felt like killing everybody around me and lacked the energy to do that even!! It happens and yeah i do feel after such ays that I could have performed much betterif i was in a better mood and mental condition

Oh this is definitely not the first time arthi but it has certainly been a LONG time since I have felt like this! I think I just need some decent sleep more than anything else. I know exactly how you have said you felt in your response and the more people around us when we feel like this the worse it seems to get! lol. My meeting didn't work out so bad in the end but I know it could have been better if I too had been in a better mental state. Thnaks for responding.

Been too long on a holiday ? The holiday season of Ramzan was over last week. Considered screaming or leeting go to get yourself all pepped up ? I did end up all fine, did it not James ? It usually happens that way. I've faced this many a time and even at times considered skipping those meetings. But never did and it went through mostly just fine.

oh yes... i did... when i feel that i am tired and bored with this life, then i won't care about anything that is happening around me... i just want to sit, relax and enjoy myself... rather than saying or doing something that might hurt other people's feelings, i prefer to be on my own when i feel like this... take care and have a nice day...

Yes, I tend to want to withdraw from the world myself when I feel like this lingli. Unfortunately it's not always possible because there are so many things to do! Anyway, that was yesterday and I am feeling much better todqay so onwards and upwards! Thanks for responding and you take care yourself!

I think we all have days like this. I know that sometimes whenever I have really important things going on, that's when I can't sleep the night before and then I'm tired or something else big comes up and I'm too busy to handle everything. That's what it seems like happens. Always seems like something else comes up that prevents me from being able to really do everything that I need or want to do. Sometimes I hate it but I think it's a part of life.

This is what's strange actually.... I had so much stuff going through my mind the night before yet none of it had anything to do with the meeting! I don;t reallly get nervous about meetings or presentations anymore to be honest. As they say though, when it rains it pours! I was just tired and everything accumulated at once and I didn't handle things too well yesterday is all. But today is a new day! Thanks for responding highflyingxangel.

Hi there James72! I am always in such a situation. There are a lot of things, particularly paper works, that I need to work on. These are the times when I couldn't be bothered. If I really need to concentrate on my activities, I end up not answering phone calls or even text messages. There are also instances when I go out of town for a holiday. When I do, what I intend to do is to rest and have fun. These are the times when I MUST not be bothered. I hate it when my superiors would ask me to do things or participate in some other activities when I am supposed to be somewhere else having fun.

Hi dolce_vita! Oh don't even get me started on paperwork! I am the lucky sod that has to write business documentation all the time and there have been occasions when I have had to pump out reports, proposals and the like that are in excess of 50 pages or so! If you are not in the right frame of mind for this it is practically torture! I wish I could escape like you have just shared but I just have way too much going on at the moment. Next time you go on a break make sure you relax extra hard then so I can feel the vibes from all the way over here! Thanks for responding.

There are days when things don't seem to go right with me too but they don't last very long. I am usually very upbeat about life and the only time I feel bad or down is when things I plan don't get approved by my boss for some insane reason which seems to stick in his mind more than the logic behind my proposal.

I guess this is the positive side of it underdog. It's just one day and tomorrow is a another one and the chance for a fresh new start! I deal with frustrating people also by the way, so I know exactly how much this would bother you. All we can do is keep on keeping on and our attitude and determination will always win out in the end! Thanks for responding to the discussion.

Ahaha, I just started a discussion today and started with blah, blah, blah too and it had something to do with complaining. I just wanted to crawl back to bed today after going to the DMV when it opened. But I still had to get my day going because I'm starting my training for my new job today. But I'm glad I pulled myself out of that funk although even after a nap, I'm still sleepy right now. I think 300 days of last year, I just couldn't be bothered so now I have a lot of making up to do. Anyway, I always feel better for making myself face important things on days I would rather not. I always feel better for making myself do something out of the house even if I just felt like staying in bed.

Haha. Yes! My wife pointed this out this morning..... Great minds thinking alike yet again SaintAnne! Good luck with the new job training and also with making up for that 300 day down streak! Sometimes we need to just get up and push ourselves so this is a pretty exciting way to start! Thanks for responding.

Thank you, James. And I know who your wife is now. You two are a lovely couple (in myLot standards, of course, although if I met you, I still would probably say the same thing). I'm off to another three hours of training.

I can quote Kate Bush: 'I want to be a lawyer, I want to be a scholar, but I really can't be bothered'. (Being an artist singer is a way not to be bothered?) Yes,it's oh so difficult to avoid being bothered. No matter who U are, there's always someone & something waiting to bother U. However, I suppose Tibetan monks are freed from being bothered. Or maybe they only pose so.

Kate Bush? Now there's a flashback for me! lol. Yes it can be harder on some days compared to others to just cruise along unaffected by things around us. But generally I am not so bad at this at all! I have just put yesterday down to a lack of sleep more than anything else and today is far more positive thankfully. I think the Tibetan Monks are so adept too because they focus on purity in life and not the materialistic rat-race crap we seem to thrive on ourselves. Thanks for responding and welcome to mylot too Gorzata.
