Is Your Bed Facing the Door?

Is your bed facing the door? My bed is. I just thought that is what everyone does with their bed. I've always slept facing the bedroom door in each house that I've lived in. I've read that some people place their bed according to the "energy points" in the house. Has anyone heard of this? How do you know what the correct positioning of your bed is for your bedroom?

hi shar!
well, since i was small and living with my parents, people, not exactly my parents, told me never to face the door or let the bed face the door. frankly, it doesn't matter to me. i position my bed in such a way that i am comfortable. but most times, facing the door is not a comfortable position.
now that i am married, our bed is parallel the door, although the door is at the end of the room. so when you enter our room, you will be greeted by the foot of the bed.
okay, gotta go, thanks for this interesting discussion. take care and God bless you! :-)
have a happy weekend!

According to feng shui the bed must never face the door it disturbes the energy that helps you have a nice sleep. Unfortynately my bed is facing the door because my room is little and I can't move the bed elsewhere. But you can prevent this by using some methods because in feng shui all cases like ours are treated. I don't know the exact method to keep the chi or energy flow for sleeping but i know they are. I'm trying to learn more about this science but the net being so vast gives me a headache. If you decide to search more about feng shui and got some ideas please announce me I need for a project of mine.

You're so right than I can even think. I've been at many of my friends' house and I noticed that many had their bed facing the door. The cause are all the same so need to write them. The only things matters now that at least we have a good sleep.

my bed is up against the wall and it is facing a mirror lol because my closest is two big mirrors for the doors and although i keep them open all the time because then its just a like a big mirror in the room (and it kind of trips me and i scare the crap out of myself sometimes lol) so thats why i leave them open.
but in a way i guess it is facing the door too... my head is at my door so i am looking at my mirrors.

I don't know if there is really a reason that my bed is facing the door. It just fits there and everywhere else just doesn't seem right. It would be a little hard for it not to face the door though just because I would be scared someone would sneak up on me when I wasn't looking. I get scared about stupid stuff like that lol.

I rearanged my bedroom a few times,
but i always put the bed back to facing the door.
From were my bed is i can looke out and see my front door.
I like that cause i'm a scary cat at nights and i always listen for noises
if someone is outside or trying to brake in.

My bed is parallel to the door. That is the only way it fits. I have also read that feng shui believers tell you never to let your bed face the door. Supposedly it is bad energy. If I wanted my bed to face the door I would have to place it under the window. Not a good idea.

Our bed is to the side of the door. We have a small master bedroom, The top is on the left side facing the wall, and the bottom is about the a walking space in front of the treadmill and that is parallel to the window. I do not believe all that nonsense about energy points.
We put it in the easiest to get out. I mean if the window is at the opposite end, you might get a cold when the window is open. OR if your bed is parallel to the door, you have a much larger bedroom then we do.

Hi there Shar19!
My bed in not facing the door. It is on one side away from the door. My bed actually is parallel to my windows. I like it that way because enough light gets into my room during the daytime. I need not turn on the lights and so we get to save energy. I have heard about "energy points" from somewhere. I think that based on fung shui, our bed must be positioned correctly for our own good. I have never consulted an expert for this purpose though.

My door is at the side of my bed.
When I lie down I'm next to the door by about three feet.
I like it this way.
When I'm leaving the room its right there next to the bed, when I sit on the bed it faces me.

Our bed is facing the closet and not the door. It is because that's how our bed will fit in our room. I believe that in every position of your bed inside your room has its own meaning but I have no idea about it..hehe. But if I will be given a chance to meet a fung shui expert, I would ask them an advice for our house.

I like to have access to both sides of my bed. I have the foot sticking out into the room, and it would have to be toward the door just because the room is pretty much square. It is not directly across from the door, because I don't want my bed under the window since its on the southwest side of the house.
I don't know about power stuff or fung shui stuff, I just want the room to have the best arrangement I can get.

Mine is facing the door, I couldn't place it under the window becasue of the head board and the other wall had a closet and the other wall would make it so you have to go ALL the way around to get to the bathroom!
Feng shui I think is an energy thing, good luck thing people do with decorating and furnture placement.

Hello Shar19,
Yes, our bed is facing the door too. It's the best position for me so I/we can see at once who is coming inside the room. Yes, I heard that too especially the Chinese, they have lots of beliefs. And I believe that, nothing to lose anyway if we'll follow it.

hi shar19 I dontknow anything about correct positioning
of my bed but in small apartment bedrooms you have to
position your bed where it will fit.My bed is sideways to
the bedroom door. everyone does notdo this as various bedrooms
are shaped differently and have differentsizes so the bed
has to be placed accordingly.

My bed is facing the door. But, I sleep facing the wall/window. That only makes sense if you know what my room looks like. *LOL* So, it does face the door, but I don't sleep that way. *LOL* ;)
