i accidentally cut myself this morning when i was preparing food for lunch. nasty cut, this one is. i lost more blood than i dare look at, and hubby was laughing at me for feeling nauseous about "that little spot of blood". well, i can;t help it if i can't stand the sight of it. some people just can't. major factor in me not taking up nursing during college, or any other course which requires seeing blood on a daily basis as a profession after college.
so how about you? can you stand the sight of blood?

Yes I can stand the sight. As long as it isn't the blood of my daughter I am fine. She cut her foot on a pavement stone this summer. And I got queasy. I think I just don't deal well with her pain at all. I hope at this point it feels better, and has stopped bleeding.

I hope your cut heals quickly!
I hate getting cut and really don't like pain or blood. It doesn't make me nauseous or make me faint, but I'd much rather have stay inside my skin where it belongs! My mother and brother both pass out if they see blood, which amuses me to no end.

How come your husband is laughing at you when you are bleeding with a large cut? Lol... I would have sulked if my husband does that to me. Well, forget about it. Maybe he is just trying to make the situation look funny so that you would not feel very afraid of the sight of blood on your hand.
As for me, I am afraid of blood too. I can stand if it is a little blood but when the blood is too much I would get nauseous. There was one instance when my cousin cut his hand while preventing my little brother from attacking another cousin. It was an accident though, because my brother was too little to know what he was doing with the long knife.
My cousin put his hand forward to prevent the knife from landing on the other cousin's shoulder and he was bleeding seriously. His bones can be seen because the cut was very deep. I really admire my cousin's bravery but I can't stand the blood. My uncle was the one who washed all my cousin's cut and brought him to the hospital.

Well, it has been years since i cut myself really bad... and i made it a point not to do that again... it was such a scary sight... but i was able to pull through... i can stand the sight of a lot of blood... but what i can't stand is seeing the agony of people who are losing a lot of it... makes me want to cry because i can't do anything about it...

I have an odd little genetic disorder in which my platelets aren't produced properly and thus when I am bumped or cut, I bleed more than the normal person.
If I just see blood, I get queasy. But if I see blood and it is a situation with people, my natural reactions take over. I'm able to tend and fix the problem.
Really what makes me queasy regarding blood is the risks involved. Too many diseases are bloodborn.
Oddly, because my brother is HIV positive I think, I'm not worried about HIV or AIDs. More like Hepititus frightens me. LOL

i also can't stand the sight of too much blood... a little bit of blood is fine... but too much of it will make me faint (i think)... that's why i never like biology lesson where i have to do experiments with animals and insects by dissecting them... it is too horrible for me... take care and have a nice day...

Fortunately, I can stand the sight of blood. Be it in buckets while they slice slabs of meat for display at the wet market or those to portrayed in films with themes that uses blood.
Anyway, we all have things that make us sway in such a way that we can't stand at all. For you, as you have admitted, would be the sight of blood.

I can stand the sight of blood and I am not afraid to look and touch, what I can't stand is flesh being torn like n the movie hostel waaah! so I can't have a degree on medical fields too..
Oh by the way, vitamin C could help your wound heal faster.. got a cut last week and put a petroleum jelly on it with vitamin c powder,, it healed instantly, morning after, it is not painful anymore and the cut is almost OK

i already put your magic mix in my wound. hope by tomorrow the sting is gone completely. thanks for the advice!
flesh being torn? like when jay hernandez's friend was trying to escape the torture chamber and his torturer cut off his ankles? augh. it makes me shiver, just thinking of that scene. when we watched that movie, i have my period. and it seems like the movie is doubly gross because i was feeling uncomfortable because of my period. i can't stand up after the movie was finished. my knees turned to jelly!
but i watched hostel II, all the same, out of morbid curiosity

I can stand the sight of gushing blood because I'm a nurse and it's part of my job to withstand any bloody operation I encounter. I'm assigned at OR/DR department so it was expected that we are dealing with lots of blood and exposure of internal organs even removing any organ of the body because it becomes useless and infected. Try to withstand it, just think of it as a minor sight of blood and face your fear to it. And think of that your fortunate that you lost a few drops of blood unlike other patient undergoing surgery that they may loose lots of blood that they needed a blood transfusion to replace the blood lost.

Blood doesn't really bother me but I have a sister-in-law that passes out every time she sees blood. She has 3 kids so you can imagine what kind of experience that has been. Her son stepped on a nail one time and had to walk with a nail in his foot to my house to tell me she had passed out. I grabbed him and fixed him up and then had to go smack her around! LOL

funniest thing i've heard all day! fortunately, i haven't gone as far as fainting upon seeing blood. maybe if i had an experience like that of your sister-in-law, i'd postpone my fainting spell until after i fixed my daughter up

I'm not bothered at all if I see my own blood since I donate blood. Doing this, I get used to seeing lots of my blood dripping and honestly I'm not bothered at all. I can stand the sight of blood but on some occasions I rather not look at it especially in accidents wherein bleeding isn't the only thing that happened.

The sight of blood is not what bothers me, it's the smell!! Sometime when I was pregnant with my first child, I became very sensitive to smell. So now, even just walking in the meat department of the grocery store is a challenge. LOL...
