Anyone sick this week?

Is anybody sick this week? There seems to be something going around like the flu where I live. My husband has been sick for the past six days now. He just wants to go to bed to lay down constantly. This is definitely not like him. He is usually always busy doing something. He finally went to the doctor's yesterday and they gave him an antibiotic. The doctor just said it was probably a virus. Today my husband said that his heartbeat is faster than usual and he's restless. I know he's been taking Mucinex since yesterday and also the amoxicillan the doctor prescribed. Does anyone know if the combination of the two could cause the heart to beat faster?

I think there are a couple of bugs going around in England. One is a gastric flu and the other a nasty, flu-like virus, which I've had now for ten days. Just when I think it's going, it starts up all over again. The only thing that seems to help it is bed rest and keeping warm. As far as your hubby's meds go, I don't know whether they would have an adverse affect on each other, but he could always check with his doctor and report his faster heartbeat. I was wondering if he has a cough, because excessive coughing can speed up the heart rate. Brightest Blessings.

Oh my! I've never heard of that.. Come to think of it, I'm also experiencing those symptoms. I attributed it to having high blood pressure. Well, I guess I'll just go see a doctor first before assuming anything.

That is weird. I believe some of the first things the doctor/nurse would check is your blood pressure.. maybe the doctor thought the nurse already did that task.

Strange thing is when my husband went to the doctor's yesterday the doctor never even checked his blood pressure.

There seems to be alot going round at the moment my 17 year old was telling me that his friends in the six form were dropping like flies with some sort of nasty virus. It was spreading very quickly. Thank goodness he has not come down with it. I have also been feeling very low this week i have a persistent cough i can't get rid of and feel very blocked up. We have also all been suffering with stomach upsets. I hope that your husband gets well soon.

Why did youer Doctor give him an anitbiotic for a virus? It won't help. Did the Doctor say anything else was wronge. Six days seem like a long time for him to be ill. I'd go on the internet and see what I could find, Look for the two meds you are concerned about and also see if there is something going around. Good luck

Yeah, I don't understand the doctor's logic. Sometimes I think we find out more by going on the internet.

Unfortunately it is starting up here as well. My little cousins, ages 7, 4 and 14 months are all sick right now. I feel so bad for them. Poor babies. I hope your husband gets better. I was asking my cousin if she had taken the kids to the doctor for their flu shots yet and she said no. She will have to schedule that after they get better this time around.

Thanks for posting. Do you think the flu shot always helps? I've heard of some people that still get sick even with the flu shot. I hope your cousins get well soon.

Thank you for the well wishes. Honestly, I do not know if the flu shots help or not. I have never received one personally. I do know that the pediatric docs really stress it to parents for their children. My sister and my cousin always take their kids to get their shots. I have also heard of people getting the flu even after the shots.

I was sick for two weeks, then feeling better for a week. Now I feel like garbage again today. There is a lot of illnesses going around where I live. It seems like everyone has been out of work and school for the past few weeks.

there are a lot of things going around but fortunately, nothing has invaded our house lately. we all had a cold to varying degrees a few weeks ago (our 15 year old daughter got it first, then i got it, then our younger daugther, then hubby got it, but now we are feeling better.) does mucinex work? i have seen commercials for it, but am not sure if it is available here in canada as of yet.

Hopefully your family doesn't get sick. I've never taken mucinex but my husband and my mother both say it works.

I would call the doctor and check to see if he should be taking mucinex with the antibiotic. I know that some virus is going around our town. I run a daycare and all the kids have the runny noses and horrible coughs. four of them have gone to the doctor and have been told it is viral, nothing he can do for them.

I have cough and colds this week maybe because of changes in weather. I can't drink any medicine because I'm 5 months pregnant and OB does not want me to drink any medicines she only recommended that I drink a lot of water and Calamansi juice.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I know it's tough to be sick and pregnant at the same time. There isn't much you're allowed to take for relief. Maybe Tylenol?

I think that there is an awful lot of bugs flying around at the minute, we have had head colds in our house and some kind of tummy bug I think that really is not very nice at all, I have not been able to eat for two days. I am not sure about your hubbys medications but I know that some can give side effects so it could be the mixture of the two causing fast heartbeat. I hope he gets better soon.

i have not use a mucinex but as i have know that will relieve for nasal congestion. maybe he has a heart problem, My MIL is not allow to take some medicine that can cause a faster heart beat for she has a heart problem. You have to consult again to the doctor so that he will be given a proper medication. It is important that your husband will be cure so that you and other member of your family will not get sick because your surroundings now is not safe.

He's never had a heart condition before or rapid heart beat. I want him to call the doctor to tell them what is going on. If he doesn't I will.

Any side effects of meds are possible even if you are used to taking the med before. I would check with your pharmacist and see if these two work ok together. I have had allergy symptoms that just started today. Has made me feel rough! Runny nose, sneezing and watery eye, and feel rotten! I think the weather change being so fast set off mine.

I have been sick for more than a week now, and my sore throat was so bad last week that I had to go in for a shot just to get rid of it. I really hate being sick, but I have not been getting as sick as much as I once did. Being sick really bites.

Hello, Shar19! I have not been sick this week. It is really bad to get the flu. It is something so hard, because a few days later you look around and everybody has got the flu. It is a spreading disease, it just starts flowing around and hits everybody. And when you see everybody with the flu, you know you will not be the only one that will not be hit. Which means that, if you are not sick yet, you are going to be pretty soon. And that's what happens. Fever, staying at bed the whole day, lack of energy, sweating a lot... I don't know if the medication would cause the heart to beat faster. Try reading the medical prescription and see if there is something about it written. If not, then try to find a doctor and suspend the use until he says it is ok. Usually, you will recover from flu naturally. The medicine can be avoided. Respectfully, Munhozmib.
