Last month I went to Macau and watched the 20th Macau International Fireworks Display Contest. Woo, it's wonderful and significant, I have never seen such beautiful fireworks. In my memory, I just played the fireworks in my childhood and never tried it again as the government of my located city prevents it due to the security problem.
Have you been to a city which shows you the fireworks display?
In my city, the government would annually have the fireworks display to celebrate the Chinese new year . I always hope that day can be come soon!

I will be going to Macau and other places on holiday next week. Too bad I'll miss the international fireworks display contest that you have watched there. But I've watched live fireworks in the sky many times in the past back home. There are usually fireworks display during our independence day celebration and some other special occasions. Every August too we have our international fireworks festival, and these past few years, I have watched it live near the bay where these fireworks are fired. The shots of fireworks attached were taken during one such festival in August 2006.

I have to say I hate fireworks! First we have the Asians celebrating their Diwali, which just has to be celebrated with the loudest fireworks known to man! That goes on for 2 weeks, with people setting them off at 11pm or even midnight during a working week and it sounds like a war zone. Then we have the November 5th celebrations, which a lot of people just can't celeberate on the 5th. They have the need to celebrate 1 week before and 1 week after and again late at night. So we have them for about a month here in the UK. So if you want a good night's sleep, forget it.
Having said that...the best fireworks display I have seen was in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, for their New Year celebration. They know how to put on a show and I'm pleased to say, I will be there for the New Year celebration again in January 2009.
Organised firework displays are great but we have to live with just about everyone letting them for a month here. That's why I don't like in them in UK! :-)

Hi, jinniu. I've seen fireworks displays for several times. Fireworks displays took place when there were great events or festivals in my hometown.

Yes, I have. I am in Malaysia and in my country the government shows the fireworks display every year. This year in Putrajaya, Malaysia had organized a fireworks display competition between Canada, China, Japan, Malaysia and Australia. I was very happy because we can come and watch for free for each night.
Each country is given one night to display their fireworks. I watched all of the fireworks display from every country and I like the ones from Canada and Malaysia. Both of them are very colorful and beautiful. The sound they produce is marvelous. Every year Malaysia organizes this competition during the upcoming of our Independence Day, 31st August.

When I was in Australia on 5th November they had fireworks at Darling Harbor to mark Guy Fawkes Night. In my home country we have just celebrated that day. Firework and bonfire displays happened all over place. Every night my dogs got scared with all the bangs. I took my mum, sons and nephew to a firework display. It was spectacular display that was really professional and went on for ages. It was enjoyable but the weather was cold. I prefer to see fireworks on a summer evening and did so at a coastal town one time. Seeing that was lovely and I remember how much I enjoyed that superb evening. London had the most magical fireworks for New Year's Eve 1999. Wow. It made an excellent start to the year 2000. I went to see the fireworks by the River Thames with a group of friends.

There are beautiful fireworks display here in the Philippines during New Year. Competitions are held and participants are from different countries. I would say that those fireworks are really awesome. I can't imagine how they were able to create such a wonderful thing. I think it is the Chinese who invented that Fireworks. I am not sure but I believe they are the ones who first made that. I should say they are genius. I just wonder if these fireworks do not hurt the environment. I'm afraid they are contributory to global warming.
