I agree the metabolism slows down significantly when you get older. When I was 18 I could eat anything I wanted to and had a great body then I hit 25 and it completely changed. Now I am almost 30 and need to lose wieght I gained while pregnant so I am sure it will take me all year to lose it all (and I only gained 24 lbs).

your body's metabolism slows down the older you get thus making it harder to burn off the weight.

A person's metabolism rate slows down as you get older and that is why you find it hard to lose weight when you are older. if you eat right and do a lot of cardiovascular exercise and some weight training, you will help build up that metabolism and lose weight quicker.

Guess it's cause we're not as active as we were as kids. They have that natural energy that keeps them wanting to go go go. Plus our metabolisms seem to slow as we grow. I have the same problem - a little chubby and don't seem to get as much activity as I used to. : )

It IS AND REALLY DEPENDS ON THE BODY TYPE. MY FATHER WAS 60YRS OLD AND LOST 150 PDS BEFORE HE PASSED TWO YRS AFTER HE LOST WEIGHT, AND HE DIDN'T HAVE NO CANCER OR ANYTHING.hE WENT ON A SOUP DIET.

Metabolism is definately the key factor here as someone above me stated.
Being younger, I can still eat a lot and not gain a pound, but I suspect sometime in the next few years that will start to change and I will have to be more careful :)

since our metabolism gets slower when we age up. so we need more effort to lose weight compared to the young ones. so the best way to stay fit when you're old? start young and maintain it. it would be a lot easier rather than doing a lot of strenoous physical workouts with age
