What would you do if you couldn’t access network?

Hi nini, it’s true that we would feel irritated for we have to spend more time and trouble to switch on and turn off the old desktop all the time for I did have an old and sluggish computer before. If couldn’t access network connection, I usually would spend my bored time to play computer games or to watch tv movies or to go out hanging around in the shopping mall instead of sitting idly at home. posting and have a nice day.

Yeah, it’s really frustrating that our computer or network when facing problem. These few days the internet connection here is still unstable so I spend most of my spare time playing computer game and watching tv soap opera. Two hours or so back I made another report again using my landline phone. I tried to online again after playing game for about an hour. To my amazement I discovered that the internet connection has restored as usual again. I hope this time they had done their repairing job properly. Take care and happy mylotting.

Hi cheongyc, I believe everyone who depends a lots on network daily would definitely feel frustrated if couldn’t access any internet connection. What’s more this problem occurs several days here. This is the disadvantage of having monopoly of isp here. You are totally right they are really notorious for their inefficiency. It’s so ridiculous that they even never keep any old record on their computer and keep on asking the same stupid questions after we have giving our phone number and ID, like: what modem are using currently? How many lights can you see on your modem? Is your cable connected nicely? After that they asked to me to reconnect the wire and modem and restart the computer. Actually before making the report I had sent the computer for checking and the technician checked that the laptop is in excellent condition and can access network there easily. I told the isp all about this and also I had tried both my modems and computer. It’s impossible that the two modems and the two computers were out of order at the same time. It was really irritating and I asked my hubby to make the third report again, they then agreed to find out the actual problem. Three hours back I had received a call from the isp saying that they were repairing the cable and external monitor somewhere and he asked me to give him a call to tell him about the actual situation of the network service. Anyway the network connection is very much better now. You are lucky to have fast network service in your office. posting and and take care.

I have been disgusted by their service sometimes. Their customer service is not good enough, and do not have a good system to keep track of customer complaints. Therefore, with such terrible follow-up in place, they will never stop asking you these same set of dump questions again. Although it's a routine, but they should assign the same person to attend at the same issue, or improve their fault reporting database. I would rather switch to other ISP when I got the chance. I think they are losing their monopoly sooner or later. There are new ISP emerging and hope they will grow strong enough to compete with the ISP run by semi-government agency.

You are absolutely right. The service of the only ISP here is super poor. I think they have to improve their system of how to keep track of customer complaints. Yeah, to avoid asking the same silly questions again and again they should assign the same person to attend at the same issue or to read the profile of the complainer before asking any question. As I know there are four new ISP would launch their service by the middle of the coming year. I think I would rather shift to any of them to get better network service. Yesterday morning around 10:30 I couldn’t access any internet connection again for about 20 minutes. Luckily that it resumed as normal again less than half an hour. You know I feel so fed up to keep on making report about the network.

I totally agree with you Julie, good network service could only available, if there is innocuous competition among the ISPs like that in your place. In my place there is only one isp company, no wonder I always encounter such unstable network connection. There is totally no other rival at all and they don’ have to worry of losing their clients. This is the disadvantage of monopoly policy of internet service in my place and they definitely provide less satisfactory network service. Last night the internet connection was still very weak and I completely couldn’t submit any post. Take care and happy posting.

They are fast when it comes to technical support because we have 3 ISP providers here and the moment that we're no longer satisfied with the service, they know we would cut them and we will just apply for a new ISP service. This is the beauty of competition, companies are providing good service for fear of losing their clients.

Hi teapotmom, I envy you could change your internet service provider at any time but I couldn’t as there is only one ISP here at my place. That’s why they provide poor and unsatisfactory service. Just same as you I would like to play computer games as well most of the time to kill my bored time. If I really want to do some posting I then would bring my laptop along and visit the nearby coffee café or fast food restaurant like Starbucks Coffee, Top Bakery or KFC. I just have to pay for a cup of tea or coffee I then could enjoy surfing net there for hours. Normally I would feel uneasy if staying there for quite a long time, for I'm afraid that the waitress there might think that I'm taking the advantage to surf net only but not for the food served there. posting and have a nice day.

Other than the three outlets I mentioned above there are still many restaurants which provide free WiFi, like McDonald, Noodles, Old Town Coffee, and etc and it is quite convenient for those who take lunch outside could still enjoy the fun of surfing net. Besides there are sockets on the walls for the convenience of the customers, so we don’t have to worry about our laptop batter would be running out of energy. Take care and happy posting.

At our starbucks it is a hang out spot so it does not matter if buy a cup of coffee or tea to surf the net for free. The other places you mentioned we do not get free internet there. Good luck to you

Hi icegermany, it’s true that we would feel frustrated if we encountered any network problem especially when we need it urgently. I do find chatting directly online is more intimate and convenient than to chat by writing. Yeah, it’s really handicapped if we come across some problems that we couldn’t solve by ourselves and have to depend on others. I’m the type of person who likes to be independent and would like to do thing by myself within my ability. After working for the whole morning the technician had got the line restored and finally I got the chance to leave a comment here and I hope I can continue to enjoy proper network as usual. posting and take care.

Yeah djjoshuatree, there are many restaurants, fast food restaurant and coffee café here that provide free WiFi service in my place. The nearest one is the KFC restaurant which is 6 minutes drive away from my house. I just have to spend $0.50 USD for a cup of hot coffee and could enjoy surfing net there. They even don’t bother about anyone who uses the wifi there even one doesn’t order any food or beverage from them. So far I haven't encountered any problem when surfing net in the public yet, this might be lesser customers surf net in these places during daytime. I’m glad that the so called fight has become clearly, so again you could enjoy net surfing in this couple of days. I agree with you, doing mylot posting is always the best among all. But you couldn’t deny that this game still accompanying you to kill your time while you couldn’t online during those monotonous day, right? I could imagine how awesome to stay in a muggy room. I understand how worse and dreadful in an air conditioning room without cool air. Hi subha, I believe this is the best time for you to upgrade your skill set and to read the technical documents. Besides the inconvenient of out of network service actually this provides a good chance for us to do things that we could hardly do if we could access network connection, for we are always find more fun busy with net surfing or doing mylot posting posting and good luck.

Yeah, the receptionists at the counters of the only isp company here, Telecoms of course are friendly but the practical service of repairing network is not satisfactory and inefficient. Hi youless, after sending three reports to complaint about the poor and inefficient network service the internet service provider then sent a technician to my house to check everything related to the unstable network connection. Yeah, I totally agree with you, a computer without network is just like a human without soul. I believe the Xbox your husband bought must have lots of interesting games in it. I haven’t played Xbox games before and I usually play computer games to occupy my bored time when I couldn’t access any network connection. posting and take care.

Hi mengyuan, not bad to stay alone in a small apartment in a busy city, at least you could enjoy the peacefulness of privacy and also easy and convenient for you to tidy the house as well. You mean all the inhabitants of the same building or the same floor in your place sharing a common internet modem or router. If so, the network connection surely would be extremely weak for so many people sharing only one wireless router. I believe it would be the peak time after office hour in the evening, for almost everyone have come home, as well as the students have got spare time to surf net. Anyway from your information it’s interesting to learn that there are so many channels on the wireless router for you to choose, some even could change to the ideal channel which could access stable internet connection automatically.It's really convenient! But so far we couldn't get this in our outlet here. Mine is only a simple one with 5 USB ports for me to plug in the cable to connect to my desktop for it couldn’t access any wireless wave. Only when I using my laptop then I could access internet connection without any cable connection. Thank God, after making several reports before I went for vacation to complain about this matter, the internet service provider here finally got everything settle nicely and I’m glad that after back from my Turkey Trip I could access the steady network service fluently again. Yeah Margarit, it’s really annoying that sometimes we have to retype the whole post again if we fail to send it for the sudden break down of network service unless we have saved it before sending out. Really without any network service surely we couldn’t surf net anymore. You are still luckier than me that the network in your place needs only 24 hours to be recovered as usual. The technician here had to spend two day to repair it. It was rather sad that the connection this morning was still unstable thought it was restored as normal yesterday. Hi Yori88, I usually use the modem with usb cable when surfing net at home, for my husband afraid that the from the wireless router radio waves can cause harm to our health so he always insists me not to use the wireless router too often. I always try to do as what you mentioned above to turn off the modem and laptop when seeing weak signal. The modem is just half and a meter away from my laptop for the cable connected to it is not long. I usually use firefox as my browser most of the time and I would try the IE only if the signal is weak. I had tried all the ways mentioned before sending the report to the isp, but anyhow thanks for your helpful and valued information here. I had sent there reports in different time to the isp we then got the technician come to our house to check everything related to the network for us. The technician told us he had replaced certain cables and checked and repaired the main monitor at the road side. After he had left I still had to wait for another 6 hours or so before I get the satisfactory network connection restored as usual. This morning I still find difficulty to login mylot site but there is no problem for other websites. posting and take care.

Hi balasri, I think the isp in my place is the worst for it is the only isp here. Everyone depends on the internet service they provided. I did experience this before without making any report and complain thought I couldn’t access network connection for several weeks when I first using network. Finally I realized that it’s not wise enough to keep on waiting and hoping that the service would resume as normal without any report made, so we made the complain using landline phone immediately. They took action only after the second complain sent. I received a phone call this morning telling me that they were having their monitor and cable checking outside. So now at least I still could get my network service on and off. I envy you don't have to make any complain or report and can enjoy your proper network service again. posting and have a nice day.

Hi jillmalatz, I’m sorry to learn that you do have the trouble of connection breakdown for a couple of days. For people like us who depend a lot on online activities definitely will feel annoyed if without network connect in a sudden, especially while having fun like playing online game or posting. After having much trouble to get network restored and I still couldn’t get stable network. I was so frustrated. I turned off the computer straight away and took a nap. Really aseretdd, the nearby Top Bakery Café is really a wonderful place for my husband and me to spend our 4 o’clock tea there. The environment of the small cafe is peaceful and comfortable. There is always pleasant light music as background. The foods and drinks are delicious and economical as well. We have been visiting the bakery quite regularly and this was the first time I started a new discussion there. So I think not the tranquil environment and the hot white coffee to inspire me to create the discussion but instead the grievance due to dissatisfactory network service, as an impetus, drove me to put up this discussion. I believe all people prefer to surf net at home as we have more privacy and also more comfortable as well. In case the network breakdown it is worth to spend a small amount to get the network service provided outside for we have no other choice. posting and take care.

I envy you indeed to have the problem of network breakdown solved so conveniently and effectively From the dialing number 10,000 I know why your place could provide faster restoration of network connection, as compared with dialing number 100 here I believe the equipments and technology used by the isp in your country are advanced and services are good as well, so you rarely facing any weak network connection. It’s rather sad that in my recent case, we had made three complaints, the isp then only sent a technician to my house to handle the problem. posting and take care.

Hi chris, I couldn’t login any site since 3.30 pm yesterday. A technician was sent by the isp to get the network repaired. He spent almost the whole morning doing the network restoration. He checked the public cable outside my courtyard using a ladder. He then checked the indoor wiring as well. He used his laptop and modem to test the network. It was weird that his device could access the network but still couldn’t login mylot site fluently, whereas mine worse still and totally couldn’t access any network. He then told me he work was to repair cable and outdoor monitor but not the server. He advised me to check the setting of my computer as well as the modem or router in the computer shop. I told him I had checked both of these devices before making the complaint. He still insisted me to do so. After he had gone I tried to login various times but still in vain. I then took a nap after having lunch and doing some reading. I tried again when getting up and I was really happy that I finally can login mylot and had submitted two comments in this discussion. All the time I think that only the service of the isp in my place is poor, and never think that you too face the same problem as me. It is really frustrating as there are still many comments waiting for me to post after starting this new discussion. True, congestion of internet traffic due to increasing great population of internet users could be one of the reasons of the slow and unstable network as what you have mentioned here. I do have the worry and feel uncertain whether the network connection would be stable and steady the next moment.
