Do we have to care about the ratings at all??

The rating system is not that important. And it does not affect your earnings at all. You are correct. If somebody dislikes you for some reason, then they will keep rating you negatively and your rating will continue to go down. There is absolutely nothing that you can do about it. I am not here to be "popular", although certainly I want people to like me and think that I have good things to say so that they want to participate in my discussions and to be glad when I respond to their discussions. The Ratings don't mean anything except that you probably rubbed somebody the wrong way and they will likely follow you around and rate negatively everything that you write. Again, there is absolutely nothing that you can do about this. Therefore, I would just not worry about the ratings whatsoever. I did not rate anyone on sunday to see what my earnings would be. They went way down yesterday. Yesterday I rated all the people on a good discussion that replied and today my earnings where really good. I really think it is important as it says in the rules to do it. Try it for yourself to see. You are rating the discussions good and Mylot like the good discussions.

I don't think so. I think it's kind of pointless really because it makes people feel important, some people feel unimportant and it's a way for people to get revenge on people that have views they do not like. I think it's crazy really but whatever. I still rate people postively when they respond to my discussions and people that don't get rated negatively. I do use it but I don't think it actually works enough for it to be important.

It is.. but that was long time ago way before I knew that it can be easily manipulated by trolls and crook. I believe also that it is not the basis for your true reputation here and of how good you are around the community. I was a fan of the rating system before but I also discover that nothing is great about it. I believe giving you the best response somehow puts you in heaven and elation specially if you really have put some sincerity on what you are doing in helping others around here. And if it affects your earnings? I don't have any concrete answer on that matter since it is not written in the guidelines but in my opinion, it does not affect your earnings. If it does, I won't be able to reach minimum payout for 3 straight months and this month it's only less than $2 away from minimum. Your rating doesn't translate quality post which is the main basis for our earning potential.

Maybe ratings also matter here in MyLot. But I don't think its enough reason to decrease you earnings here if somebody presses that negative sign. Maybe the admins here should try to check the real content of each discussions and responses of each members. Not by just ratings. Although it can help, but not much decrease if somebody put some negative sign to someone.

I had the same doubts and I've been reading the FAQs: The number to the right of your username is the user rating and measures only the amount of posts not quality. The Star with a number (you need a rating of 100) is your reputation which is calculated with the DRS (discussion rating systems) and more but doesn't specify. The DRS is calculated with the positive or negative ratings, but it says that one user can't do significant harm. The DRS is used to calculate the earnings.

It has immediate effect if someone rate you negatively and I've seen it happen to me just now the moment I responded to a friend. This lady was angry because she was banned from ciao and I responded by saying that maybe her reviews were too good and might sound very commercial to ciao, they might have suspected that it is not her work. she was very mad with my respond and immediately after that my star dive from 9 to 8. I responded to her in good faith and did not say that her reviews were not her work. I think she did not read my response properly. I can't be bothered with the star rating as it does not affect me or my earning.

I think the importance of ratings here depend solely on the member... if he/she value the star and number behind the name... then there is a need to post more quality posts... but for those who do not mind... then... they should just go about their own business... and post whatever they want... as long as they do not violate any mylot rule... Ratings do not affect our earnings... so it is more of a personal thing...

I don't think it does affect our earning. I've found my ratings going down to 9 from 10 but my earnings remain at satisfactory level. I don't actually get bothered with the decrease ratings I have here although of course it's nice to have high ratings. Not all people here will like you so it is expected that some will rate you negative. I don't allow my performance here to be sidetracked by things that are not under my control.

i dont think so that the rating system is going to effect our earnings, may be when we rate a post and then it might effect our earnings as i have read from so far at mylot but getting rated from others i dont think so it is effecting our earnings and it is only the start which shows the effect. but i feel that we all are here to make some extra money and not to lower others and as far as we are sincere to our work here and what we write here and there is no one who is going to rate us negative. may be some discussions which we feel right, may not be right to someone else but it may be right ot a few also and so it depends on each individual so it is just a different view point. but i dont think so there is any requirement to rate anyone negative and if we dont like the post i just leave it and dont mark anything. and i even dont know how people come to know that they are rated negative as many people discuss here. i never know who is rating me positive and negative, i just do my job and that is much.

ya everyday i will check my rating mylot and no only me all my friends will check their rating and we ill talk about that rating can any one tell how his rating works in mylot????

Huh? I don't even know how to rate... somebody... explain this rating system please... haha... i hope the rating system means nothing, coz I never rate anyone and never been rate too (i guess)

I am really new here. But so far whatever I have read in this site gives me a hint that ratings do affect our earnings someway or the other. But on the other hand people should not rate negative if they donot agree with a topic. Negative rating should only be done if someone finds a topic irrelevant.
