As someone who is new to myLot.com and a programming student I'm curious what languages you guys like to code in the most and if there was a reason why? I personally have experience working in Java (work and school), VB.Net (school and some freelance work), Groovy script (work), Jelly Script (work), and just started C#.Net (school). Personally I prefer the .Net languages as they seem easier to pick up. However, obviously wanting a job as a programmer in the future have also taken on Java for that purpose.

I can't really say I have a favorite as I use various languages for different purposes. I use ASP or PHP for web development, For executables it depends on what I am writing it for, If I just need/want something quick I use VB.net but if I need more control or compatibility I use C#. I also use vb script if I just need simple functions repeated.

Very nice you sound like me with a wide range of languages on your resume. I would agree that sometimes a situation does call for a particular language as it is the best choice for it.

I prefer the Euphoria programming language. It is simple to use and learn, plus it is powerful. It is a high level language, but also allows for low-level programming. That's how powerful it is. Plus you can make a lot of wrappers or libraries for other tools as well. It also has a easy way of networking programming. The libraries are built into it, even the networking libraries. All you have to include them in your project and use them, that easy. The only downside, is that there is no real good IDE for it.

Programming language that I really like is Python. Its has a clear and readable syntax, object oriented, supporting hierarchical packages, exception-based error handling, high level dynamic data types, extensions and modules easily written in C, C++, etc. Python is the first programming language I learned and its an easy programming language to learn even if you don't have any knowledge of programming before.

I like C# .NET. It is easy to learn and it gives you the GC (provided by .NET) to help you manage your memory just like Java.
The best part I like with C# .NET is that it works well with native libraries. I have come across situations where legacy c++ library is required (due to the existing code is just there working well.... sometimes too well to be replaced). Using C# do help me in using these native libraries easily.
And don't forget about C# is still being enhanced with more programming features to help ease development tasks.

I'm fairly language neutral. They all have different strengths, so it is best to be comfortable with a few of them and be able to know when it is the best time to use them.
That said I have a soft spot for UNIX shell scripting and Sed, and while I get on with most languages I do like the tool chain and 3rd party APIs surrounding Java.

i like HTML and PHP. when these two program languages combine, it will be a great package do you have. html and php are script programming like javascript and ASP. they do not need compiler like VB or Delphi programming. but, the script will be execute in sever side. why i like html and php? because i like web programming and it's very good for my future. i would like to be a professional webmaster

I know javascript and vbscript as I am a web developer. I like vb as it the most simple one. Oh yes, I know a bit of php too, but I don't like it that much.

For me, I like java, cause its Object Oriented and I'm much more familiar with it. You don't have to worry on freeing the memory cause it already has a garbage collector.
