My morning show did a report on kids that hug their teachers. It was really large debate. I know my 4 year daughter hugs her teacher when she arrives and gives her teacher and the principle hugs when I pick her up. I never really though anything of it. Is that inappropriate?
One of the guys on my talk show said that it is inappriopriate touching and should be allowed. But I don't see a problem with it, what do you think?

There is nothing wrong with it. It is not inappropriate touching, that just sends the wrong message to kids. Nowadays it seems everything is wrong. Who decides these things anyway? Keep on doing what your doing and be involved, you know what's best for your daughter.

I think that the notion that hugging is "inappropriate touching" is RIDICULOUS! So we're supposed to raise our kids to NOT show affection to people that care for them? Kids should obviously be taught what the genuine inappropriate touching is...but hugging should NOT be included. Otherwise we raise a generation of robots who don't show emotion! What morning show was this?

I don't think that there is any thing wrong with a teacher giving hug to little children when they want them. Some time ago there was a spat of innocent teachers being accused of wrongful touching of students. So for a while some school ask that teachers not touch students at all. I think that as long as you also teach your daughter about good and bad touches there should be no problem. An no she isn't too young to learn about good touches, bad touches.

I don't think there is anything wrong with hugging the teachers... although i myself am not a big hugger... even when i was in prep... i could never remember a time that i ever hugged a teacher... but coming from a person like that... children are very affectionate... and they are in constant need of a hug or assurance that they are liked... so i see nothing wrong with a hug...
It is the responsibility of th school to strictly screen the teachers they hire... so as not to create any problems...

I am very active in her eduction, I talk to her teacher almost every day via e-mail and I see the principal when I pick her up. I don't see anything wrong with it, I was just wondering if maybe I should see something wrong with. As my friends always tell me, I look at things with innocent eyes and I don't see the train until it has run me over.
