Hi Vandhu, I don't think you have back pain because of your fat. Back pain occurs for several reasons and you have to find out the reason behind your problem. For that you have consult a good doctor. Do you ever consult a doctor for your pain? Sometime it may occur due to lack of calcium. If you find out the problem in the initial stage, I think it may be a small one; you can recover from the same very easily. In case it occurs because of the fat you can start doing some exercise. So don't delay, hurry up. All the best and take care.

maybe that's one the reason. the posture is your problem maybe your slouching. Flank pain? Is a sign of urinary tract infection. Better consult your doctor.

Hmmmm,u seem to be so worried of ur weight Anyways yes being fat does cause back pain because ur life bone that is the spine has to bear all ur body weight. But then that can't be the only reason though since as u said lean people also sometimes face such problems, that mite be due to some othe reasons like the density of th bone mite decrease etc. But then, when fat people with back pain visit doctor, the first thing that doctor wud ask is to reduce our weight Cheers

Being overweight is disadvantageous and causes lots of discomforts from body weight giving pressures to many organs unduly. But I doubt very much that being fat alone could cause back pain, it can enhance and cause the back pain more frequently. But the very reason of back pain could be different. Reasons could be abnormal posture causing strain on vertebra, lifting of weight in wrong manner and so many other factors. That is why lean peoples also gets back pain. If you are suffering from back pain very frequently, you may prefer to consult a physician and get X-rayed as well as some tests to find that some other hidden problem is not causing the pain.

Hi, vandhu. I think getting fat can lead to back pain. I'm pregnant now, and i always get back pain, i also have pain in my feet. I believe it's all related to my weight gain. Sure, there are also other factors that cause back pain, such as sitting position. For me, it's a sign of getting fat for me when i have back pain, then i know it's time to keep fit and do exercise. Stay healthy and happy mylotting!

hi vandhu, my dear friend, well, yes, being fat causes back pain. being over weight and haing back problem are two problems that feed each other. i know this because my mother-in-law is obese and having lot of problems. being ovrweight has caused him to have more pain in her lower back. its because when most people gain weight , they tend to carry it down low , at their abdomen , which puts a tremendous strain on the lower lumbar region of the spine. being overweight we dont even exercise much , giving us poor muscle tone and flexibility in the back and pelvis.

Ya being fat does cause back pain since the weight of your whole body shifts to your back and your muscles in the back will not be able restrain the weght..that causes your back to pain a lot and then the bones will also get compressed due to the different muscle acions and ot will cause more pain..hope you will decrease your weight soon...happy mylotting..

Being overweight is not alone a contributing factor to back pain. Other factors that contribute are whether you have had a back injury, a genetic predisposition to back problems, improper lifting, lack of sufficient exercise to strengthen back muscles to name a few. Carrying extra weight throws your center of balance off, and will add stress to the spine. You need to do a little sleuthing before you totally credit it to being overweight. First, are you doing a lot of heavy lifting? Are you carrying heavy loads any distance. Are you doing a lot of stoop or bending work? Is your mattress old and broken down? Have you had an auto accident that might have jarred your spine? Have you been sitting for extended periods of time? Your probabilities of back problems increase if you are morbidly obese... I am a bit overweight and have back problems, but with the active lifestyle I lead it is a given. I had a spinal injury when I was 27 and I am still paying for it today. I spent most of last week in agony because I bent over and my disk slipped in my lower back. Yes leaner people are susceptible to back pain and injuries. Again it depends on genetics, working history, muscle tone, mattress, and many other factors. Don't "dis" yourself because you're a bit over weight, just do the sleuthing and figure out the cause and try to correct the problem. Hope I've helped a bit, and that you do feel a bit better about yourself.

There are tons of reason you could be getting back pain. Excess weight plays a big part in the pain tho. I myself have gained tons of weight after my daughter, and was in an accident and the pain is nearly unbearable. My dr said that weight is playing a huge part in getting better as well as me being a smoker. Being over weight puts strain on ur body. Just like carrying heavy groceries. I wish it was as easy to lose it as it is to gain it. I would see a doctor and maybe have an MRI done. I had one recently and was told that my lower back pain is due to wedging disks, said to be caused by a fall and is chronic. I wish u the best. xoxo julz.

You can get back pain no matter what weight you are but being over weight will not help because your spine is load bearing. Have you been to your doctor to see if there is any underlying problem that could be causing the pain? They will probably tell you to lose some weight but it will help you be healthier in a lot of ways if you do.

Being overweight may cause back pain...well it is not proved clininally, back pain occurs due to improper position of sleeping, and the posture in which we sit. If we dont walk or don't strain our body into any physical activity the body pain tends to increase. I think even if a lean person who wd not get regular physical activity wd eventually gain weight followed by ailments. Rigorous and brisk walking helps....
