0bama and Clinton... - 0bama and Clinton...

Ok, I’m a little confused. Earlier this year when Hillary was still campaigning 0bama continuously criticized her and belittled her travels around the world, equating it to having teas with foreign leaders; and 0bama’s new White House counsel said that her resume was grossly exaggerated when it came to foreign policy. So what all of a sudden qualifies her to be Secretary of the State??? Is this a deal they struck…she’d stop her campaign and support him and he’d give her a cushy seat on the team??? Did she sell out to him? I’m just having a tough time figuring out how she all of a sudden is now (to quote 0bama) "I believe that there's no more effective advocate than Hillary Clinton for that well-rounded view of how we advance American interests." Anyone have any insight? Do you think she sold out and struck a deal? BTW, here’s the link to an article about it http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/12/wag_the_blog_hillarys_experien.html?nav=rss_blog ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND TRUST IN GOD**

It is just more of the governmental hypocrisy and BS.. I have a hard time believing anything coming out of the mouths of anyone in government.. It would take a totally innocent person, who hasn't seen nor heard all of the crap coming out of the officials mouths to really believe them.. She might have sold out or just have realized what her only options were and she wasn't about to give up any of her power, money or the limelight.. It is a shame, I would love to see someone in government who told the truth and nothing but the truth, but those days are gone..

I do not think she "sold out" to Obama. IMO Hillary is a very clever (crafty?) lady and during the four years until the next (2012) presidential election she will be very carefully weighing her options and getting all her "ducks in a row" before she says or does anything. Hillary Clinton, again only IMO, is no-body's fool.

I agree! I was just getting ready to write the same thing! :) She has something up her sleeve to accept a lower (than she wanted) position... Look for her back in the Presidential race in 4 years! personally, I wouldn't vote for her, but I'm sure many people will be happy to see her up and running again.

Ah I think that during the course of a campaign they will say anything to discredit the opposition. So he maybe really did think strongly of her...but couldn't say that or she would have gotten his votes! I don't think she sold out.

Hi twoey! No I don't think that Hillary sold out to get this position. What went on between her and Obama in the campaign were typical of any two people vying for the same position. They used alot of fighting words that were not necessarily meant to be taken as they were said litteraly. After all they both wanted the same job! So it was to be expected that the mud slinging was to be down and dirty! But, she graciously bowed out and endorsed him. I don't think that she had any idea of any sort of personal goals in mind at that time other than supporting and uniting the Democratice Party. I beieve that she is a perfect candidate for this postion and if our President-elect didn't feel that she was too then he wouldn't risk his reputations by making this appointment!

You know the fact is she is one of the best people for the job. As who do you think did most of Bill's work for him. She helped him alot. And she is a very smart woman she just isn't a people person the way Bill or Obama are. She is better one on one. So no I don't think she sold out. If anything she made out real good. She is a great person for the job. Your friend onlydia

I think Hillary was very reluctant to withdraw from the race, because she was kissing her chance to be president goodbye forever. If Obama won the election she would not be put up in the next election... Obama would. If Obama lost the election, she could run again in 4 years. In eight years she will be too old, and will not get the ticket. So she fought her hardest for her one chance. When she saw that she had no choice, she finally withdrew, hoping her campaign would have hurt Obama enough that he would loose and she could try again. He won, and then as a great politician who no longer needed to fight for the ticket he choose the person who was best qualified for the job. I don't think she sold out for Obama, I think she fought tooth and nail, and that is just the type of person he wants on his team. Someone who will give it their all and never say never.

I believe the expression is "Politics makes strange bedfellows". LOL. At any rate, I'm willing to give her a chance. She's a smart lady and will probably make a good Secretary of State although she is certainly no longer her own boss.

I don't think she sold out. She a very smart person (note I did not say women). She is well respected by people in other countries. She knows how to discuss issues with people. Statements are always made during a campaign which may or may not be true and of course these statements make good news fodder. I always thought that if she could not be elected President she would make a good Secretary of State. Let's face it, when the President (elect) calls you answer, no matter how you feel. It is an honor and shows confidence in a person's abilities to be nominated to do a job.

Hi twoey, well I've no clue about this job Hillary has been offered, but for one thing I am sure that anything can happen in politics. They are real hypocrites, what they preach is not exactly they practice. Here, in politics, I know about a mother and son, who are in opposite parties and in public they keep speaking against each other as if they are real enemies. But in reality, they live under one roof, people close to them have seen them together in many places, being quite comfortable with each other. I am unable to figure out what all this is about!!!!

Knowing what I know about Hilary, no deal was struck. I don't consider her taking this position a "sell-out". I consider what was said by the Obama camp during the election, as those things said back and forth during the election so they could look better (as Hilary's camp did to Obama) - that is politics! I have been very impressed that he is looking past everything and trying to find the "best person for the job". I figured he would offer her something, but no way did I (and have read / heard she was shocked too) think it would this position. But good for him! I think she will be great. As Obama himself said, he is not appointing people that agree with him totally on everything... he wants to hear different opinions and to hash out all ways to do things to find the right way. This makes me feel good about the new administration's ability to "fix" things!

Well I can pretty much bet they set a deal... Doesn't surprise me though. After the whole Clinton/Lewinsky thing I lost respect for the woman because I would not have stood beside with a smile just for political gain. Stayed with her husband for political reasons and she is Obama's choice for political reasons... I think she sold out a long time ago. Ethically that is. And I know personal life should not be that important, but it depends on the fiasco involved and Bill made it a fiasco.

It is called playing politics. When you are trying to win, you do what you can to have others like you better. Many politicians who have run against one another, really do respect each other and know that they are good at what they do, but they have to play the game. Do I agree with it? No, but Hillary is good for this. She is an excellent communicator, smart and if she had been against McCain, I would have voted for her.

Well you know how politics are. they are all liars and will do what they can just to get what they want. Heck they could of had a deal before the whole campaign even started. Maybe after she realized she was loosing she went to obama and made a deal with him. I really don't care as long as obama takes care of the country like he promised.

In my opinion I don't think there was a deal struck between the two. During the campaign it was just that, a campaign and a battle between the two, politics is what I would call all of that. hahaha

yup, during the campaign, i think you had your typical "mud-slinging" going on. i think Obama knows of Hilary's strengths and weaknesses and i'm sure they both knew of each others strengths and weaknesses during the campaign. mud-slinging is just part of the game to steer voters away from the competition. despite who Obama chooses for his cabinret, let's hope we start to see "the change" that was promised. actually now that i think about it, this is a great move, a win/win situation that should please both Obama and Clinton supporters. BTW i love the title of the story....."Wag The Blog"........Wag The Dog was a great movie.
