for christmas my sis wanted me to make her a pair of knuckle gloves. Today she told me that she wanted them to be to her elbows, the pattern I have (knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTknucks.html) is just past the wrist. I have just gotten to the point where the textured cuff starts with 36 stitches and need an idea to help me elongate the gloves and follow the shape of the arm. Does anyone know of a sleave or an arm warmer pattern that might help?

You should be able to do it without a pattern. Measure your sisters arm in about three places and work out how many extra stiches you will need by the time you reach each of the places. You can do that by looking at the tension instructions on the original pattern. Then increase as you go.

For almost all mitten and gloves I do a ribbing for the cuff. For very long cuff I like to k2,p2. This gives a cuff with a lot of stretch and will fit over most arm shapes very well. In fact, I always do a longer cuff than is called for, as I hate that gap between a coat and a glove on the wrist.

Thanks, I'll do that for the next pair, mine! Though, in sunny south florida the gloves are just for show. My sis is a little fashionista at 10 going on 18.
