My daughter has been wanting a guinea pig. I'm not so sure if it's a good idea though. Does anyone know much about guinea pigs? What is there life span?

A guinea pig is a very good pet to have, you should keep them in pairs as they like to talk to each other and do get lonely on there own.
I have five piggies, my female gave birth three weeks ago. I have one baby and four adult piggies. It depends like any other animal how long they live

I've never personally had one, but we had a class one in Kindergarten that everyone got a chance to bring home for the weekend - he was a good pet.

There is only an odor if you do not keep their cages well maintained. Sure he is not thinking of ferrets, who definatly have a scent?

I had a guinea pig a few years ago and she lived about a year before she had to be put to sleep (she had a growth on her behind). They are easy to take care of, and can be fun to play with. Occasionally time consuming but for the most part quite a bit of enjoyment

Yes..Guinea pigs are good pets..I have four as pets..They are very gentle creatures and rarely bite..They're quite easy to care for..You can feed them grass which probably is abundant in any house yard..I feed them Crab Grass..They're quite abundant in our yard..
In the wild, they live for about 4-6 years while in captivity, they could live up to 7 years..
