Do you have one in your house. How do you like it? we have one in the house for a while now but honestly we don't use that much. A friend of sister just comment about it that she doesn't like either because it is not good for you, she added to, that the nutrients of the food is gone if you cook it in the microwave which kind of surprise me because i know that a lot of food now is microwave ready and even lots of it is kids meal. If it is not healthy then, why they make food that is microwavable? Well, i don't like to warm my food in microwave because i prefer it in the stove or just eat it cold. I ask this question because it does concern me about what i heard to my sister's friend. I know my sister use it a lot because she has a baby and for her it is the most easy quick meal she could think of and it save her lots of time preparing the meal. What do you think?

I like so much my microwave - makes life easier.
Just think - your baby cries in the middle of the night, you have to wake up and warm the bottle, in warm water, like it used to be.Takes at least 5 minutes. Meanwhile the baby's hungry. With a microwave, in maximum a minute it's ready.
And later, when kids are grown up, you just prepare a plate with the food, and they can re-heat it, no problem.
Or you're hungry and in a rush, push in a pizza or a frozen meal, 2 minutes ready to eat and you out of the door.
I just love it!

I use my mircowave like most people use their stoves. For one I don't have a stove so I have to use a microwave and a toaster oven. I kind of prefer to cook in the microwave cause I am a bad cook so we have been buying the Encore frozen family meals and I cook those in the microwave. I can cook almost anything in there. I wouldn't be surprised if it does suck all the nutrients out the food but for now that's all I can do. We've looked at stoves and most places won't deliver to the 3rd floor.

We have a microwave in our home but we don't use it much. I rarely have food for left over in the fridge so we rarely reheat food. I would say my man uses it the most to make top ramen for lunch when I'm not home or when we have "lazy night" dinners. I use it to melt butter and such for some recipes or heat tortillas. But ours is rarely used.

We have one at home.. we usually use it to re-heat leftovers.. but i've heard from a friend that using a microwave on a daily basis isn't advisable as it can bring harmful effects to our body... i haven't researched about that info yet but maybe she's right.. actually, she isn't only the person who told me about the microwave issue so i guess have to tell mom to limit the use of microwave oven..it's better to be safe than sorry...

We have had our microwave for so long that I do not remember what it was like to not have one. Through experimentation we have discovered it is best used for warming rather than cooking. I use it mostly to heat a cup of water for coffee or hot chocolate or tea. I also make popcorn in it. The grandkids use it to heat frozen convenient foods like hot pockets.

We have a microwave. We really dont cook meals in it though. We use it to warm up left overs or pop popcorn. Once in awhile we might have a frozen dinner made in it. Other than that we dont use it alot. I would miss it though for those quick warm-ups.

There's a microwave oven in my kitchen. Its used for reheating food and defrosting meat. I feel there's nothing wrong by using the microwave oven for defrosting and reheating food. Especially the defrosting part - it helps saves time really alot. But the containers that are used in the microwave when reheating food - that's the culprit which will cause health problems in the long run. My husband is very particular when it comes to using plastic containers for reheating in the microwave. Even the tupperware brands which is specially made for microwave. He said plastic is still plastic. So I use only clay or glasswares like pyrex for reheating purposes and defrosting.

I have a big microwave built in above my stove I love it. I use it alot for it's so quick to make meals. I have never heard of the nutrients being taken out of the food just because you use a microwave. I know I would be lost without my microwave. So yes the microwave is a very good idea whom ever came up with the idea of it.

I like our microwave but I don't use it all the time like some people do. I will use it to re-heat some vegetables from dinner the night before. I also will make tea or hot chocolate in the microwave. Some things just get ruined in it though like pizza, bread, bagels. It just turns out soggy or extra hard.

Your friend is mistaken. Nutrients are not lost just because you cooked the food in a microwave. I have used a microwave for over 25 years now. I love the thing and can't imagine not having one or not using it. My son's bottles were even warmed in the microwave when he was an infant. I steam veggies, reheat leftovers, steam rice, or defrost frozen foods in mine almost every day. When you need melted butter or chocolate it works great for that too. When you need hot water for tea, you can have it in seconds. As for them not being healthy - I don't think thats true. I mean you even find them in hospital's and doctor's offices. If they were unsafe do you think they would use them??

I have a microwave no i don't cook anything in it but i do re-heat SOME food items. It is faster than heating up the oven in a lot of cases. I mostly use it to thaw out bread or warm up left overs (excluding soups that i use the stove for). But it DOES shock me to know that it strips food of its nutrients. That is a bit of new info.

ahahha! I do have a microwave at home, and I think it's quite useful and simple to use. Let me tell you one of my experiences man...there was once, when I asked my dad to heat up a slice of pizza for me. so my dad did help me heat up the pizza, using the microwave. a few minutes later, I could smell some really BURNT smell from where I was (I was sitting in the living room that time; the microwave's in the kitchen). and I was like "dad, what's that smell?"
OMG! AHHAA THIS WAS HILARIOUS! WE RAN INTO THE KITCHEN, THE WHOLE KITCHEN WAS SO SMOKY, AND, guess what?! it turned out that my dad set the wrong function for the pizza...and in the end, my slice of pizza turned as black as charcoal and we had to throw it away! HAHHAHAHA!!
oh, and there was also once, when my mom used the microwave to cook rice...so, she filled some rice in this plastic container(you can put the plastic container into the microwave..it isn't supposed to melt or anything), and she asked my dad to put it into the microwave to cook it. and ONCE AGAIN, my father set the wrong function, and the container melted. -_____________-
PS: i'm glad my father doesn't do these kind of things anymore now. hahah
happy mylotting~

I use my microwave alot. I live in a studio apartment and have a tiny kitchen with no stove. I have a microwave and a toaster oven. I will be buying a single burner as soon as I can find an affordable one. With the burner I can make different dishes that require cooking. I have heard that it is not a good thing to use the microwave.

I have a microwave oven at home and I like it. It is a very useful electrical appliance. I like to use it to make the potatoes. It can be done in a short time. My mom can make delicious microwave chicken. If there are few people to have lunch or dinner. I have a microwave bowl which you can use it to make rice with the meats. It's very convenient because the meal can be finished in about 20 minutes and it tastes well.
I love China

Hi Margarit, I don't have microwave in my house, I just use microwave before when last time I rent a room, and at the kitchen, there has a microwave. I use it to make eggs and re-heat my food. I do not know that the nutrients of the food is gone as you sister's friend said, I just know that the microwave is not good only. My mother tell me better use oven. For me, in my house I use oven to re-heat or use the stove to steam it.

Before I had one I didn't think I wanted to get one. I honestlu thoght I had no use for it. Then things got hard and the natural gas for heating the house in the winter and for cooking more than trippled. I had to go buy a Microwave and also go get ceramic heater. I now use my Microwave mopore than anyting. I lost my home and I made sure I took my microwave with me where I am staying. I am addicted to poporn and it is so quick in the microwave. I also live alone most of the time, right now I am in someonelses home so it is different. But I do like to use it now. Also this place I am stayong, the oven is broken. I do use the burners on the stove though.
