Most of us are conscious of our weight especially women who are always troubled by those unwelcome flab that keep padding our bodies. I have experienced the yo-yo dieting that is sickening and ineffective but does more harm then good to our health. Not to mention the amount of money spend in joining health clubs and going for aerobic classes for the sake of keeping in shape and trying to look like the shapely models in magazines. It is only a waste of time and money as the result is only short term if we lack the strong will in controlling our diet, the worse is expected. It is time to surrender to the age factor as aging does not allow our bodies to be elastic anymore and growing sideways is inevitable. After all I have had my fair share of the limelight in the glamorous world when I was young and bouncy. Having a curvy body no longer interest me but taking care of my health becomes my priority now to minimize old age diseases that often licks on aging bodies. But my only consolation is the 'extras' that I have prevents me from falling prey to Osteoporosis. I think it is better to be a bit fleshy then to be in a skeletial physique. But I do still admire women who are fit and firm even late in life. But for men it is good for them to be padded with muscles all over then they look more macho! So which category do you fall, over or under weight?

I am not over or under weight, but maybe I am in denial? The holidays do not help either. I tried a diet over a year ago and lost a lot of weight, but it is creeping back. For me I will make a New Years resolution to exercise and eat healthy so I can stay fine in '09. And, yes I must stick to it!

As of now I am in a balance weight not over nor underweight. I know how to handle my weight if I know I'm going to lose I eat well and try to sleep and rest until I get back my lose weight. If I know I was going too heavy I better go jogging and exercise limits my intakes but I cannot decrease my sleeping time. For the healthy body cannot measure in weight because there are people that are so big but not healthy and thin but healthy. For i know the body structure depends on man. And how hey can carry their health with their every day life. For me I prefer to be light but not so much thin.

I'm definitely on the overweight side. I think it's good to eat healthy and to exercise because it's healthy for my body. I don't care if it helps me lose weight or not. I want to be healthy at whatever shape my body is.

Hello my friend zandi458 Ji,
It is very good discussion. Women have more health problems than men. As we take jump after 40 yrs, there are many changes come, at that time I was more than 65 Kgs and i was just over-weight, I was not careful. I suffeerd with many problems, Initially, it started with HTN/DM2/RA/UtI. Now, at the age of 65 I am just 51-52 kgs and would not prefer to in crease my weight. Drs have asked me to maintain this level. i would request all our ladies member to keep watch after their age of 40 yrs. may god bless all and have a great time.

I am neither over nor under. I am just under 5'7" and around 135 lbs. I still wear size 3 jeans. On "fat" days I have to go up to a five sometimes but the 3s still fit, if a little snuggly. I am 34 years old and I have 4 children. Though I am starting to gain a bit more weight than when I was dancing I am still quite happy with both my shape and my size.

Hello zandi458,
Anything too much is not good. Right now, my weight is just right for my height. When I was young I was skinny and I can say I am under weight. I can eat a lot of meals without getting any weight. I think my metabolism is too fast then. As I grow old my metabolism slows down and I start to gain weight and become overweight. But I was diagnosed with high triglyceride levels and I need to exercise and reduce my weight it took me about a year to loss down several pounds and do daily exercise. Now, my readings are within normal and I just keep the maintenance. It is really hard but I hope to live longer and healthier I need to keep exercising and eat the right kind of food. It's tough.
Regards.

You are just the opposite of me. No matter how I try to shed those unwanted fats I'll still remain the same. My sister who is thin is also trying hard to gain weight but does not seem to be successful. Too thin is also not pleasing to the eyes. Try to put some weight by eating more.

I guess by doctors standards and the charts they would say I am overweight considering my height...five foot and 152 pounds...but considering that about ten years ago I was pushing 200 pounds...well let's just say I am finally at peace with myself.
I love my curves and I love how I feel knowing I am eating right and I can ave what I want. It may have taken me years to figure it out the balance between healthy and unhealthy food) but it was worth every inch lost and kept off.
I wish I had figured it out long ago...and I do not believe for one minute that our metabolisms slow as we enter our 30's (women's that is as they say) because I notice as long as I keep an eye on eating more healthy foods I still can do what I want. Plus I am very active through my job and at home.
I never experienced the whole glamourous body thing...as for most of my life saw myself as fat and plain. Well maybe i did have a few years when I started losing the weight...I did go a little diva while getting ready to go out dancing LOL

Neither. I'm not as skinny as those chicks in the mags, but that's cool. I have a little chub in my gut that I'd like to get rid of, but I'm not going to go to any drastic measures to do it. I'm not ever going to count calories or take diet supplements or anything. I'm just trying to excercise more- at home!! I agree with you in that health clubs and things like that are a waste of money, but I guess some people just dont have the willpower to do it on their own. People are just lazy these days.

My weight is in its "normal" brackets.
I used to go to the gym, not anymore. I have too much to do and the fees are really high.
So, I try not to eat too much, drink a lot (water only).
I stoped looking at others , what they say, how should you be.
If I'm feeling good with myself, it's good for me.
And being in shape...also round is a shape...thing about it...

I used to be overweight but after a 4 month stay in a nursing home I lost 50 lbs. Now I am right in the middle range of of what is considered my ideal weight. I have kept myself at this weight now for 3 years by completely changing my lifestyle. I feel great, do not need any medication and really enjoy life without all the extra pounds.

I was over-weight two years ago, but then I had a heart attack and now I am back to the weight I was when I was 30 which was the right weight for my height and build. All I did was stop eating foods that contained sugar, because that was my problem - I was addicted to it.. :-) Derek

I'm actually underweight for my height. I'm 105 and 5'4. I eat as much as I can, but my teenage metabolism keeps me from gaining weight. My BMI is low too for my height, but I can't help it. I rarely exercise (I know I should do it more). I hope that I can keep this figure when I'm 40! Haha

I am actually fairly underweight. I joke with my friends that if I don't eat every other hour, I could die. I am six foot four at one hundred sixty pounds. I don't know if that means I'm under weight but I am extremely cut. I have a decent amount of muscle. I really don't know if I'm underweight though.

before i statrt i liked your way of putting the subject across.
Well i am well balanced inbetween. neither too flabby to be called fat, nor too skinny to be called thin. I have perticular weight bracket, and keep oscillating inbetween. So nothing to worry about. i dont hyperventelate, if i put on a few kgs, but definately feel great if i loose a few.
