One mistake that changed my life

I am not that big I mean old. Only 20 years of age. But at a very early stage I made a mistake, a big mistake for which I am paying every second.
When I will tell about the mistake I know you will laugh at me thinking it is a very silly mistake. What's it it to regret so much about but ask me and ask all those girls who make the same mistake as I did.
I was in class four then, 10 years old most probably. I was playing at the backyard of my house. That was a small concrete yard, a very small one. While playing, I suddenly stumbled and fell down. I felt serious pain at the back of my head since I fell with backside of my head towards the ground.
But I was stupid enough to not to stop there. I felt angry at the ground and started to play again, this time running and jumping faster than before. Alas! Almighty didn't spare me this time. I fell with my face towards the ground this time and when I stood up, I realized I had lost half of my very front tooth!
I burst into tears and right at that moment I knew what I have done to myself, to my life. I regret that evening. I hate that day.
Guys, did you ever make such one big mistake which is irreparable and you regret it till today! Share please.
We share because we care. Don't we?
I am new here and this is my first discussion. Don't hate it!
You can call me Jo.

hi jo. welcome to mylot! people make decisions everyday. everything is done through deciding. what to eat, drink, wear etc... making decisions is very important because it has consequences. do we like it or not, we are going to face that consequence. you are still young and a lot of decision making will be on your way. just a tip, when you make a decision, think about it a thousand times and pray about it. think of its consequences. after that if you decide on something, just be prepared to face its consequences. if you made a bad decision, dont be depressed, be strong and learn from it.
i too made a lot of bad decisions, but i just took it positively and learn from it so that i wont repeat it again.
happy mylotting!

I totally agree. You know what, now from that day I intentionally avoid doing those things in which i face some kind of problem at the very first try. And this helped me a lot.

Welcome to myLot, Jo. We're always glad to add new people to our circles and share ideas.
We've all made mistakes, especially when we're very young. They help us grow into the adults we are, and the adults we want to be. One of these days, you can get that tooth repaired and forget about it. Until then, just remember, you were a little child when it happened and, for now, it just makes you memorable.
Yes, we do share because we care.

Hi cobrateacher,
Thank you so much for your response. You know what, I can repair it, but my father says I look good in this way!
And the logics he gives me, they are quite logical. I am not less happy but if this had not happened at all, i would have been happier! just that.

Welcome to Mylot. I think you'll soon feel like family here. I have been here about two weeks and already I have talked about more things on here than I do with my friends and family. Now as far as your mistake, life is very full of mistakes and as a child, you are still to young to realize all the consequences of you actions. That's why they we learn from our mistakes. Now are you feeling bad about it because your tooth is still not repaired? There are so many things they can do to teeth where no one can even tell you had an accident. My 13 year old niece last year had her front kicked out and now she has a false one but nobody can tell until she takes it out. My stepson was about 16 when he fell from his bike and both of his front teeth were jammed up into his gums. Now he is 18 and you cannot tell the accident ever happened. If you have not had your tooth repaired maybe this is something you can look into.

Mistakes are part of life for a very special reason. A Mistake is life saying, "that did not work, try something else". Mistakes are necessity for success. It is also necessary for the preservation of life. If I child touches a flame, he knows it can hurt him. So next time he will avoid them.
I believe, in life, it doesn't matter if you made one, what matters most are the actions that will follow them, how you will act on these mistakes.

You're twenty years old and you've spent ten years beating yourself up over a minor accident and treating it as if it's a major life crisis. How in the world are you going to deal with the real problems and crises that are going to face you throughout the rest of your life? If you've spent ten years obsessing over a broken tooth, you're in very poor shape for real challanges. I don't know what your psychologica profile is, but unless you have some kind of mental problem that prevents it, you need to take a more realistic view of things, decide what your priorities are, and find a way to get past this kind of trivial concern.

You didn't break you teeth, did you, you will never understand. I am not saying my life has stopped, but i just hope this didn't happen at all. and that was because a stupid attitude of mine. I want to tell everyone, never be arrogant or stubborn, they are harmful :)

Every time I see this discussion on my way through the lists I think somebody should tell this person to get over it and get a life. A life-changing mistake is like committing a crime and going to gaol, getting drunk and pushing the limits topo far with a girl, or driving a car and killing or injuring someone. It's not losing half a tooth. As mistakes go this is a tadpole, I won't even call it a minnow.

Hi Jo welcome to mylot :) your post is very honest and touching and i can imagine how you feel about it.But what about the teeth ? has it given you any problems? i hope not.We all make many mistakes many a times knowingly.thats how one grows up and matures.I still make the same silly mistakes that i did before , which shows that even after you grow up you are capable of making rather repeating the same mistakes :)

Hi Kiran,
it was a very sweet comment. Thank you for your concern. I haven't repaired and dont plan to do that actually. Its physically in good health. Giving me no problem at all. If i want to fix it by putting a cap on it, the doctor will have to cut a little from the existing. thats why I am not going for that. and yes, i try not to repeat my mistakes now. :)

hi,Jo.,Just like you,I am always making some stupid mistakes.I donot know whether u have such experience, sometimes I even hate mysekf.hehe...,So far ,I think the most stupid mistake is I forgot to weite my name on every page but the cover page of the exam paper.I was so careless that day and I did not follow the instructions that exam asked.I just realized it when I got home.I knew the result must be terrible. If one of the paper lost and the examiner cannot find it by checking the candidate's name.I am likely to get a low mark. Now I am still waiting for my result.I really hope I have a good luck.If I am a time traveller,I definitely wii choose to correct my mistake.I do not want the effort I made in the past 1 year become zero just because of my stupid mistake.

Sorry to hear that Rajesh but thanks that you shared your experience with us. We actually should never choose our career listening to others. its a matter of whole life and its a big risk choosing others preference.

Dont worry about anything when you hate it, turn your face on the mirror.
Thinking about funiest things, when you are smiling at that mirror and see the sky.
You will be refresh.
I have story about who wants give me "Rp 50.000.000" to me from operator handphone promo, send with SMS on my phone. I call that phone number from my handphone, but that number was fake. That make me angry, so i throw my handphone on the floor. My battery is run out, then i buy new battery. People can hate anyother, but there is one solusion, don't hate it.

Ok, well I can see that falling down and breaking a tooth as a child might be traumatic, but life changing? I don't think so. I mean really, all you have to do is see a good dentist and get a cap put on it.

This is a rather silly and foolish way to lose one's teeth. how could you fall down and break your teeth? One normally does not fall down like this. you say you made a mistake which yo are regretting. how cna it be a mistake? It is an accident. Falling and breakign one's teeth has to be an accident and it cannever be a deleberate mistake. If it is an accident, then it is beyond your control and thenit is not yor mistake but yo were a victim of circumstances. Don't blame yourself for it.

Thank you so much for your response. I am calling this a mistake since I fell once and got hurt at back of my head. I should have stopped playing right then. But i started again and this time it was worse and i lost half of my tooth. Thats how I feel like it was a stupid mistake in the form of an accident. :)

I have something that has scarred me. It was out of my control. My mom never took care of my teeth when growing up. She never cleaned them. She gave me sweets while young. She ruined them. Now my teeth are in bad condition. I was too young to do anything. I brush them everday. I wish I had a prettier smile, but i don't. I have tried different things, but a lot don't help. I don't have real bad teeth. I have seen worse, but i am not comfortable with what i have.

Ohhh yeah! I do have loas of things that have done in my life that when ever I remember specially when times of sadness and loneliness...it drives me out of my wit. Sometimes I have to scream on the top my lungs just to let go or kind of driving away the painful, crazy, horrible memories of my past.
Sometimes I have to tell my friends or even teenagers of my testimonies for two reasons... first ist for tell to learn from my mistakes and second is just for me to freed myself from the terrefying past of mine. I definitely knew that I have to let go of them and never to entertain them again or ealse.. I'll go crazy.
But as of the moment I have learned t o forgive myself and forget the pain or the ghost of the past.
I really thanks God for my freedom because whenever those memories would come back and try to torture me again. All I do is pray and ask God for strength again...and once more I'll be fine again. Thank to HIM!

i do not care ....
a lot of errors in our life that we can not control or can not avoid , but if it just little mistakes , such as your experience , the reason is that you are so young , but there is no cause irreparable mistake for you , just let you pain , so you remember it clearly , and so you care `
the same , there are a lot of mistakes in my life like that , but when i graw up , i forget some , that's our young fool , everyone will be turn by the time , you will mature ``
so forget those unpleasant , enjoy our life today , to teach the little young what worth to do , what cannot do , and what should work hard at it ```
have a good , friend , forget something that not worth to remember , and last , accept comething cannot changed ````

Hmm, you are right actually. We should learn to accept whatever happens. But I think we should also learn to be careful so that there is less things to regret about in our life. :)
