I need some encouraging words because I just lost my cashiering job yesterday. I'm trying to look for a new job, but it's just so hard and depressing to know that I lost my job because of this economy. They layed off a lot of other people too. It's so sad.

Hello, vanonas!
I am sorry to know about your job. It is a shame. However, there are some encouraging quotes that you can find through the Internet. Perhaps they will inspire you. Like this quote, that seems to be nice for you:
"Don't wait for something big to occur. Start where you are, with what you have, and that will always lead you into something greater." - Mary Manin Morrissey
Or, perhaps, this one:
"When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us." - Alexander Graham Bell
And the final quote I am going to add here is:
"Problems are only opportunities with thorns on them." - Hugh Miller
I really recommend you watch a motivation video in YouTube by Steve Jos, the CEO of Apple and Pixar. He tells how he have succeeded in his life, even when he had quit college and even when he got fired of his own company. He surely is a successful person, despite failing many times in life. He could reach a greater place than any of us would ever imagine to get to.
Remember that they might have take your job, they might take your money, they might take your house, but do never allow your hopes to be gone. It is never too late to start again. You can find another job. You can do something better than before. If you weren't fired from there, how would you ever reach a higher place? You would be always there, on the same thing. Now it is your opportunity to find an even greater job!
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

Dont break down! And dont look at back! Past is past! Come on! Explore that you have enough powers, talents in you! If you continue thinking about the past then you will get nothing! Pain and agony will poison your mind.
Do remember that "A pessimist sees difficulty in every oppertunity, but an optimist sees opertunity in every difficulty". Work Hard to get another job and prove you are able to save yourself in every condition. Getting a job is nothing to you. I know it is not easy to do. But accept it as a challenge atleast for your sake. Dont forget that, "It is always better to light candles rather than cursing the darkness". Go ahead! All the best!

Hello vanonas. While feeling sorry for the loss of your job, I wish you good luck in finding another one soon. Maybe you have already found one since this discussion was posted two weeks ago?
It is the same situation in China that many people working in factories and companies have already lost jobs due to the global financial crisis. It is so bad and severe situation that the public are facing. I hope that this condition will be improved in the new year with good luck. Take care and good luck to you, friend.

It is not a reason for you to stop searching a new job and the only self-motivation during this economy slump is have to look for new opportunity and not the other way round. It happened globally, now I'm watching online TV while doing mylotting activity and heard it widely effected in Japan and China. In Japan hypermarket, oldies are the most group doing shoplifting activities and being caught by the security personnel on duty and they said "NO MONEY" to pay the taken stuffs.
Demand for jobs are greatly higher than offered jobs. Everybody is trying to debouch oneself from the cast-in situation. The best way now is to be in group with your friends and doing grouping job searching, at least you are not left behind or unnoticed if there is any good information surface.

Well my dear don't despair, if a handicap could manage to find ways to survive I believe all the more you who is in perfect health and very fit could do. So you lost your job...it is really sad but get over it and go find another one. You have previous experiences and for sure you can use that to find a job better than that one you have just lost. In every thing try to find something positive. Just believe that a better job is in store for you. You have have to look for it. So cheers!

My grandmother used to say "always a door is opening when another is closing".
Even though some places closed their doors, others keep them open.
You just have to look for them.
Take the newspaper, go to an employment agency, look online.
Look at the bright side - you have experience, and it counts.
Plus, now for holidays, having a little bit of time to rest, be with your family, it's great.
Don't worry - lots of places will hire again startin the end of January.
Be strong and enjoy your time off.

Yes there are a lot of laying off this December. But I stop to wonder what is the method does the bosses use to lay off or fired persons. I only comes up with this. There are workers who does not stop from work for filmsy reason. There are workers who go the extra miles. So the bosses uses these workers and tell the unproductive ones to go home. I will encourage you to look at your working attitude and change the ones that wasn't so productive.
I say this to encourage you and I hope that in January '09 you will receive a job.

I agree with michaeldadona as well as with the other comment that when one door closes another opens. You have to keep looking for another job. The worst thing that someone could do is sit down and accept defeat. There are other opportunities out there. You just have to look and even if the search is hard there has to be something out there that you can do. Don't give up.
It's really sad that people are losing their jobs because of the economy and while there are tough times you have to keep your head up. Take care.

I pitied you. I was laid off 10 years ago and was out of job for 9 months. I know how you feel. You must believe yourself and one day you will get one. Back then, I was like you. But I never stop searching and I finally secured one. I was employed by an insurance company which the last thing in my mind to join one of an insurance company. Now, I am still working with an insurance company and I feel happy about it. Hanging there friend! Probably, myLot could be the place for your to earn your income.

Hi, friend, I think it not your fault. It is all because the economy crisis. Yesterday, my girlfriend also lose her job, I'm so sad. But I think maybe that's a good chance for you. Because your corporation fired a lot of people, maybe it proves this corporation is not good any longer, so you leave this corporation, you can find another better job. I have the chance and other people don't have, and you are the best, because you're the only one in the world, there is no people in the world is the same as you. You have your own value. So, come on, you are the best, you will be successful.

To fail means you have tried. To hurt means you have loved, to survive means you have learned.
There will always come a time when you find that you too will have to give up something good if you want something better. Just share with the whole world the best of what you are!
Cheer up!

Never give up.
