My brother downloaded this program (which I told him not to) and there was a deadly program that crashed the computer. It was almost a week before my computer was repaired. I felt so empty without it and the internet. Has anyone felt this way? If so how long have you been away from your computer?

That is why it is so important to back up your important data.
Always keep a copy of your data on a separate hard drive or just write them on DVDs.
This will help you restore the data back just in case the situation like this happens again.
Secondly i would recommend that whenever you want to download something from sites where virus and trojans are found use Linux , MOst of the virus and trojan attacks are useless against linux.
This will help you save your some good amount of money on anti-virus program too :-)
Take care.

If there's a virus infecting your computer system, you might want to consider reformatting your PC than sending it for repair. It's very easy to format your PC especially if you have a boot-up CD for Windows. Just put it in, enter BIOS and instruct the BIOS to boot up from CD first, and not the default floppy disk or hard disk. Then, restart the PC and you will go into the boot-up screen for the Windows. From there, you can format and clean up the entire PC but bear in mind all your applications, configurations and data will be gone.
So my advice to you is to backup all your relevant data to somewhere, scan them thoroughly and format your PC after that. I'm sure you can still enter Windows even with the virus around unless you're talking about something very serious which will not even allow you to switch your Windows on. If that's the case, then good luck and please send it to the repair guy.

I don't get virus problems as I keep my anti virus up to date daily. I know this won't stop new viruses entering but I do what I can to keep my PC safe. I also have a firewall installed.
My PC does go wrong though, sometimes hardware will go faulty and need replacing. Before my motherboard developed a fault and I had to get a replacement. Rather than directly replacing it, I decided to upgrade the whole machine with new processor, ram, power supply and graphics card (these parts would not fit in the old motherboard).
The longest I've been away from the computer is approx 2 months. It was really boring those 2 months and I missed the computer alot but I managed.

the best that you can do about this situation is to repair your operating system or if not please do a full format with your pc..delete all unwanted files specially files which can be found in registry program.
