Visiting the library

Well, after cleaning out the car this morning, we decided to take a trip downtown to the main library. We had to return the last trip's audiobooks and needed some new ones.
Well, while the roomie looked for audio books, I organized the "to be filed" book trucks. By the time she was done, I had finished 1 truck and one side of a second one.
I had the non-fiction on one shelf, and fiction on the next and then the books on tapes on the bottom.
Now, granted, if I had time, I would've gotten all the fiction books together and in alpha order and the non-fiction in order, but as it was I only got them the carts in order on each side.
So, do you ever do that? Its not the first time I've done this, just the first time in a long time.
Do you like to go to the library?

Only library we go to is the one in our small town. It's pretty big and high-tech even thou it's as old as the town, which is over a century old. My daughter loves going there to check out books but then ends up forgetting to return them so ends up paying a small fine each time. lol Never put books in alpha order thou.

Nope cause after she reads them, she 'misplaces' them and can't find them again till past the due date. Told her time and again to put them on the stove so I know they go back but she won't.

no I can't say that I ever did that, I wanted at one time to work in a library but I never had the chance to do it.

Hi ElicBxn,
I have not been to a library for years, all the books I have is what I have bought, I don 't like going to the library as I will forget to return the books back.

I love going to the library and used to go alot. Our library was closed down for about a year, due to lack of county funding to keep them open. It was really very sad. Finally when they reopened under private management, I was unable to go, because I live way out in the country and I don't have the ability to get to the library anymore. I miss going though.

I live in a very small neighborhood... of~800 people and therefore our library is just as small. But what I have found is that I can go online and I can 'reserve' movies (DVDs or VHS) from the library and if the movie is in on of the other libraries I can get it from them within a day or two.
I use Blockbuster mail program for my new movies and then I use the library to watch movies that I would rather not pay for... I have been able to cut my Blockbuster bill in half.
What I have also done is donate books that I do not use anymore to further the reading and the size of my local library... more people should find out what is available at their libraries... some even carry games (PS2/3, XBOX, etc...)
Thanks Zelo

It's been ages since I've been to a library however, I used to enjoy it quite a bit but since I've been buying my books, I've not been. I'm a slow reader anyway and with life being so hectic lately, I haven't had time to read anything. Even my Readers Digest magazines have piled up. Now that's bad! lol But life in a real sense came first but I'll eventually catch up. Now when we go through town, we go right past the library so I do know where it is. I'd like to try going there again since I did enjoy it in the past. Besides, the books are free, a lot cheaper than buying them! lol

The Library, what's that?, haha.
Goodness, I haven't been to a Library in many, many years.
I probably should thought because I always did like it. So much information there and I'd love to start reading again. I miss that.
The only time I ever pop in there is to find tax forms for filing, which is coming up soon. Well then, I guess you can say I go once a year, lol!

I used to go to the library all the time, before having kids. It was a place of relative peace, entertainment and inspiration. Actually, that sounds really good- note to self: Join the library and escape the kids!
Being a rather non exciting person, the library offered an escape from the four walls of my flat (back in my late teens)where I could be safe from the weather and the lousy music of the guy living upstairs ( I'm not into rap or hip hop).
Many assignments for school were completed at our local library, even when I didn't need to be there. It just felt like the place to do some academic pondering and scribbling.
These days, a trip to the library would probably result in the riot police showing up to try and take control of my often over enthusiastic kids. No, they aren't the type who's parents just let them run riot, they run riot to upset their ever vigilant parents (what a way to increase your blood pressure). Not only is there the out of control, noisy kid factor, but there is also the problem my girls seem to have with paper. Or should I say the fascination they have with the sound or ripping paper.
I suppose I could dump the kids on my husband for a couple of hours and sneak in some 'out of the house and kid free' time. Who knows, I might actually manage to finish writing one of my books.
I don't think I have ever tried to order the book trolleys though. I know that I have spent time fixing the books on the shelves that were in the wrong places though. I'm sure the library staff were very grateful to find that half their job had been done for them.

Yes, I could see the books being a distraction. I'm sure I've had those times too, which is probably why I got my work done first and then looked for interesting books to read, though that probably didn't work all the time either.

I used to go to the library a lot, as I love to read, but between my family and friends giving me books, finding them at thrift shops, yard sales, trade sites and amazon.com and ebay, when I am looking for a specific one, I have not been there in so long.
Before I had internet at home that is where I used to go on the internet. I was allowed 2 hours per visit and always reserved my time so I was assured to have my full two hours. That was maybe two or three times per week. Now I am on everyday, a lot! LOL

I like audio books for the car and at night when my eyes are too tired to read, or if I am busy with stuff and do that instead of the tv.
I like to play them while I float in the pool in the summer catching some rays. Of course, sometimes I fall asleep and have to rewind it. LOL
My cousin gets mostly audio books and he passes them all onto to me. Once I am done, I give them back and he shares with others.

My roomie is visually impaired, or, as she likes to say, BLIND. When I was still working data entry, I bought a 4 track player so I could listen to her books too. In fact, I just rediscovered the 4 track player today before cleaning out the car.
I listen in the car, but I don't have as much time to listen as before I retired from the state.

I very much enjoy visiting my local library and getting a bunch of cool new books to read. I will probably go to the library today actually because I've got some late books and I need to turn them in and I need to recheck out some new books. A library is a great thing for knowledge and learning.

You are not supposed to reshelve books. I guess you didn't quite do that actually! But any library I've been to have signs on the "to be filed" carts to not reshelve the books. I suppose it's to keep people who don't know how to alphabetize from putting the books back wrong.
Well, I have not been to a library in a long long time until two days ago, so maybe things have changed. I went to a little branch library and I got a library card and took out a book and two DVDs. It was kind of fun. I hope I remember to bring them back! The library had a lot of those audiobooks you wrote about. I have never listened to those before. How do you do it? Do you listen in the car or what? I've heard lots of people listen to those.

Hi there!
I haven't done that but I really want to. It's because I am always in a hurry when I go to the college library because I do some studying in between classes and after I have read, copied, or got my pages photocopied, I rush to my next class. I was actually thinking of putting up an organization for library volunteers but that would be a lot of work to organize.

I have yet to do this in a library, but if I'm bored in a store I'll re-hang things that have fallen off of racks or put things that I notice are out of place back where they belong.
I haven't gone to a library in a while, actually. I've been meaning to go, but just haven't had the time. (Or the motivation, really. If I don't have time to get to the library, what makes me think I'll have time to read a book? :P)

I love to take the kids and go to the library. They have a lot of things that they do with the kids while I can find a few good books to read. I take the kids and go every Thursday and while they enjoy crafts & story time I enjoy some story time myself! LOL

I have not been to the library recently. I'm in 2nd year college and I must say that I just don't feel fascinated with the library anymore like I was back in high school and elementary. I really love books but I really don't like going to the college library. I think it must be with the ambiance the college library has. Although the library is spacious, there are so many students who uses it that it always seems to be crowded and that I can't even concentrate while I'm in there. Also, the books are not really updated so I am not able to find what I'm looking for in the library. Plus, our college library is not that organized that if I really want something there I can't find it.
