My brother left on New Years day for deployment to Iraq....

I keep thinking that this isn't happening, but it seems that it is. My little brother will be leaving this month en route to Iraq to fight in a war. Now I realize that there are many many other people besides myself that have been affected directly either by being there themselves or having a loved one over there. This time, I know how it feels and I can honestly say I don't like it. I truely thought that it wouldn't happen. Something would happen to stop it but...well, it's going to happen. I will go see him in a couple weeks for a family day then after that, he's gone. Does anyone know how to adequately express your feelings to someone that is going off to another country to fight in a war? I'm struggling with this. I'm not quite sure what to say to him that will be suficient in describing how much I love him and will miss him.

Let him know that there are a lot of people who do not even know him praying for him and all of the soldiers over there. I come from a military family and I know how you feel, whenever my dad was deployed I just felt numb, especially when he was in desert storm. I just felt like I could not even breath. I almost enlisted thinking that I could be with him , but he talked me out of it. Said with me being a woman , back then, they would not have me with him.

I'm sorry he's leaving :( You really won't need to say much to express your feelings for him leaving...he'll know. Just give him a big hug, and that's all it takes. I know how you feel to an extent...my first REAL crush left for Iraq--but that was years ago. He's back now, but I haven't seen him since he left. He's a friend of a friends brother lol. I saw him a lot my first years of highschool and all of middle school...and I had a big crush! I still remember it, and still think about him sometimes. But it is good to know he's here, safe now. I'm sure it'll all end the same way with your brother! He'll be back! :)

I am pretty sure that it really is hard to feel and I can truly understand how you feel. Your country is deeply involved in policing the world and somehow this is the price for it to maintain world peace and spread of terrorism around the world. Some other countries don't think like I do that is why you have to constantly involve your country in other problems outside of your border because eventually if this will go uncheck by your country your borders will soon be compromised like what happened in 911. But I do hope and pray that someday your brother would return home safely back to your family.

i can totally understand your feeling when you brother will go to fight in the war.I think a lot of family like yours will be very much nervous and sad when they learn that the country will has their son or relatives sent to Iraq to fight in the war.i think the more people pray for him,the more blessings he will get.Keep in contact him and write him letters frequently to give him encourage and love.He will be back to you safely and happily.
