I was wondering because a friend of mine was tending his fields and got charged by a bull. It fractured his leg. I have up until now..knock on wood..never broken a bone although I have been in many positions to do so. Thank god for flexibility.lol I went sking a couple times and often ended up in a postion or two I didn't realize I could manage. What about you? Have you ever broken a bone? If so,how?

I proud to say, that I've never ever broke any of my bones not even a fractured. And hopefully, none in the future. I did involved in a accident severals time (when I still young with high adrenalin), luckily I was able to bailed out with a minor injuries.

Hey JenInTn, Yep! Sure have broke my leg and dislocated my right ankle skydiving at 'Z' Hills in fla. I made a canopy adjustment to close to the ground and wound up "cork-screwing" my self into the ground. Putting my right ankle and leg twisted up into my neck and shoulder. It was so painful, I couldn't feel a thing!! LOL It was my 13th jump of all things, and if it hadn't been for a spectator noting I had landed but not gotten up, I don't know how long I would have been laying there. I was in a cast for over nine months, they said I would never walk right again, but that all that is good, I healed well and haven't had much trouble up until recently, when I fell down the steps of the church and popped my knee out, so I am healing from that LOL!!! Be happy, be joyful -- Oohcute2340

Hi cupid74! A break can definately effect your whole life. Sometimes things just don't heal the way they're supposed too. I can give a small amount of thanks for flexibility. I went sking and knew nothing about it..dummy me. I do legs stretches almost everyday and if it weren't for that..I would have broken or at the very least pulled muscles. There was actually a point where I was on my back and turned my head to the side and was looking at my ski. I learnes afterwards when I was so sore I could barely move that there is a lot of preparation that comes with sking. Someone must have been looking out for me. Thanks for responding.

I haven't (kncok on wood) broken any bones except for my small toe but I don't really know if it was broken or not, it sure felt like it was.. Everyone told me that the doctors couldn't do anything for a broken toe, so I didn't have it checked, I just wrapped it really good until it got to feeling better..
My mom, however has had broken bones twice and I was with her both times, she slipped on a walnut which fell from a neighbor's tree and broke her arm.. She was in her 80's at the time.. This time was pretty uneventful for us but the next time was worse..
She also, while in her mid 80's, caught her pj leg on the footboard of the bed and fell and broke her wrist.. I lived next door and was called in the middle of the night, when I got there about 2 minutes later, there my mom stood with a bone sticking out of her wrist.. We almost never got her ready to go the the ER.. We couldn't turn on the lights on the bedroom because she though someone might be able to see into her bedroom, even with the shades drawn, so we had to help her get dressed in the dark.. Mind you, her pj's would have been just fine, while going to the ER, but no, we had to find her a pair of slacks, we tried on 3 pair before finding the right ones, the bone still sticking out of her wrist and making me sicker and sicker.. Then we had to change her bra, which meant up and over her arm with the bone sticking out, same with her blouse.. We thought that we were ready to go and get her to the hospital, but nope, we had to put a clean pair of socks and her shoes on before she was ready to go.. It also took 3 tries to get the right shoes.. Then a jaacket so she wouldn't take cold while she was out.. We did finally get her to the hospital and they set the bone, which was very painful for her, I was in the room with her and it was painful for me also.. But she eventually got it set and in a cast, when she got home, she went back to bed for about an hour or so and got back up to go on with her day.. My mother was one tough lady.. Me, when I broke?? my little toe, I moaned and groaned like a baby for weeks, I am not as tough as my mom..

My mom never had the opportunity to go camping, she was too busy raising 10 kids after my dad passed away.. She was an old fashioned lady and she passed away almost 2 years ago at the age of 90 yr.. She did also remind us to wear clean underwear.. She was a great lady but being born in 1917 she had quite a few old fashioned ideas.. Have a great day..

I don't think that I have inherited any of those traits, because I would have passed out that night if I hadn't have had to make sure she was ok, and that was just seeing the bone sticking out of her arm.. I can cry like a baby when I get hurt.. Mama was one very tough lady, and a very special mother..

Wow Donna! That mother of yours was certainly tough as nails! I've jammed my toe before too and would have went to the doctor in my undies if I thought I would have felt better. Women from her era were definately from a different mold than alot we see now. She exhibited..strength,modesty,self awareness, and pride.Even in a difficuly situation.I have to say..I admire a woman like that. Thanks for sharing that.I hope if anything like that ever happens to me that I'll be that strong and self aware.lol But I know I won't. I'm a big baby.

I broke a small bone once in my foot years ago. It hurt like hell. Weirdest sensation I've ever had, because I felt like I was going to pass out, then got nauseous, then I got pain like I've never had. I didn't think I'd be able to get up, but I told myself to get up and I did. Then my foot began to swell and that's when I knew I hadn't just sprained it. Went to the hospital and bingo! Found out I'd broken a bone. Had to wear an ugly padded boot for three weeks.

Hey jenin! I did break my bone once when I was in college. I had come new to the city and was not aware of the public transport system or the way drivers maneuvur their buses. I was getting down a bus as my stop had come but the driver did not stop the bus completelyf or me to get down. He expected me to hop out of the rolling bus. As I did not want to miss the stop, I did exactly that and landed hardly on the sidewalk! My leg bone got badly fractured...pain was excruciating. It had completely swollen up! And as I was away from my parents, I felt real panick as in what can I do. Luckily my cousin and her husband came to my help , took me to the hospital , got my leg bandaged and kept me at their place for a month till I got better! I am so indebted to them even till this day for the timely and generous help! They are great people and I love them. May God Bless Them! :o)

No, I haven't had any broken bones and I hope I never do! My husband on the other hand has had a few broken bones in his time. A couple of broken legs (at different times in his life) and a broken collar bone. He might have broken other bones, but I can't remember at the moment.

No, I didn't. I didn't know him then. But I did take care of him when he had a hernia and a ripped Achilles.
My husband has also acted this way when he has gotten a cold. Though he has gotten better about it through the years!

When I was in the service I broke my feet. It was painful at the time and when it gets cold I still have some problems. That's the jest of it. I've been fortunite enough not to break more. I feel for your friend though, because that is is life and he will have a time off from it. I hope he heals well and is back to tending his fields soon.

I've broke many bones throughout my life. Most of them were all at once. I've broken most of my fingers and toes at some point, a vertebrae in my neck that didn't paralyze me, tailbone twice, nose 3 or 4 times and my knee cap once. On my 23rd birthday I wrecked my car, was ejected and landed on the hi-way. In that wreck I broke my scapula, nose, 9 ribs and my pelvis. The broken pelvis was by far the worst pain I've been in. My hip was dislocated and doctors tried to put it back into socket. It hurt so bad I passed out. The broken knee cap hurt pretty bad though too.

I have never broken a bone thankfully. I've hurt myself in a variety of other ways though. I've needed stitches and have sprained my ankle at least twice. I was pretty active as a kid so I was always doing something that sometimes got me hurt even it was just a few bruises or scratches. However, I did manage to never break anything thankfully.

YES!
I broke my left wrist when some fat kid at school fell on top of me while playing baseball...
I broke my right wrist while roller skating backward.. and tripped.
I broke BOTH of my ankles when I fell off my sister's front steps.
I re-broke my left ankle walking through a grave yard and not seeing a little drainage ditch thingy..
I broke my little toe when I decided that I didn't need to turn the lights on to go to the bathroom.
I broke my middle finger when I shut my hand in the car door.
I'm a little accident prone!
