I am not panicing about Christmas just yet don't worry! I have already some Christmas shopping for this year already though! Honestly, I have! I went around the January sales and picked some gifts for my sister-in-laws. I also picked up some other bargain gifts which I shall no doubt use for birthday presents throughout the year My kids get invited to birthday parties and so they will be good to use for those.
So have you done any Christmas shopping this year yet?

Hey, it's a smart way to do the shopping for Christmas and birthdays early. Malls are so crowded during the holiday season and schedules sometimes won't permit when you we are in the mood to go shopping. Sometimes items gets out of stock too cause a lot of people have been buying the same stuffs. My sister and I have experienced it so we weren't able to buy the best gifts for our relatives last Christmas.
For this year, we plan to get ready early for Christmas. We give gifts to all our relatives every holidays, from infants to adults and looking out for things to buy every time we go out to do the groceries works for us. We will also be visiting thrift stores for a variety of things for our relatives.
God bless and happy mylotting!

I have only bought a few things for misc. gifts for people for Christmas this year. My goal this year is to buy things here and there each month so that we don't have to spend TONS of money the month before or month of Christmas. I am going to try to eliminate getting stressed out in 2009 and doing Christmas shopping thoughout the year in stead of waiting til the last minute is going to help alot with the stress thing!!!
They keep saying that there are going to be good sales in alot of the stores through out this whole month and for you bargain shoppers, Bombay and Sharper Image are going out of business. They usually have neat things to give for gifts and they can be pricey but they are marking things down 70-90% by the end of this month!!!

Hi ya shihtzumama
I did that last year and it really makes a difference getting gifts earlier but sometimes you forget that you have someone a gift already and end up buying them another one, that's what I did, but I still managed to make use of the extra gift!! I loved the Sharper Image when I lived out in the states for a bit, I don't think I ever bought anything in there because of the prices but always had a good look around, shame they are closing down!
Thanks for your response

It's people like you that give people like me a bad name!~LOL. That is fantastic! I am so happy that you have started shopping. Maybe I will start too and pick things up as I go along. IO used to be organised like you many years ago but no more I'm, afraid. I give my daughter money to shop in the USA as she is an incredible shopper and buys most things for me. she can smell out a bargain at a distance of fifty feet. Not me! I stand there dithering. Keep on with this. I am jealous! Many blessings

Well does spending my Christmas money I got from 2008 count my friend? Only I did some Christmas shopping today in actual fact, I had some money from my parents and I went into Sportsworld and I saw this beautiful grey hoodie, I love hoodies and have quite a few in my wardrobe but this hoodie caught my eye, it has a zip up the middle and it's just me! It was £44.99 reduced to £13.49 now is that a bargain or what! I bought myself some gym tops too and I love red, do you know it is difficult to find gents clothing styles in red! I would love a red hoodie for sure, well I got some shirts £4 instead of £15 now that is my idea of Christmas shopping he he he even if it's for little wolfie ;0)

No, but I have started knitting gifts for some of my friends. i figure if I make a gift each month, then I will have all of my friends' gifts done plus a couple of presents for my cousins.

Hey there cher913
Wow this is an old discussion but I am still happy that you responded. I think my stock of gifts has gone down slightly due to birthdays throughout the year but at least I had them to hand, used one only yesterday in fact!!
Thanks for responding

I started buying some bits as well. And the christmas box 2009 is well under way. It helped woolworths closing down and some of the bargains I snapped up there and in other places were far too good to miss. In wilkinsons alone I picked up £25 worth of stocking filler type toys for £5! Can't be bad!

I know that you are serious about this discussion but I have to say when I read the title of it I had a little chuckle. How cute is that! Then I read some more and see that you mean it when you say you have already done some of your christmas shopping for next year. I can't say I have even started to think about christmas next year, I mean this year, let alone start shopping already, for it.
I did go bargain shopping in boxing week and got some really good deals on some clothes but that was for myself and not for presents. I did buy some wrapping paper because it was really cheap and that is something that will never go bad so it will last forever. I still have lots ffrom last year but that is okay.
Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend,
Have a good mylotting day, Chris

Hey Chris
Well as I am sure if you have read through a few of my discussion now you will be able to identify with my sense of humour. I like to think of good titles for my discussions that will make people laugh or at least put a smile on their faces. I love to laugh and am a very jovial person as I am sure other fellow mylotters will tell you. I wasn't really being that serious about this discussion I thought it would be funny to tell people how many days there were until Christmas as the holiday season had only just ended! I was also interested to see if anyone had bought any gifts yet for the next Christmas. Look out for my next lot of discussions they too will amuse you I am sure!! LOL
Cheers Chris
PS By the way I can be very serious when need be and am always very sensitive to other's more serious discussion when necessary!!

Shopping early takes all the excitement from last minute shopping. I applaud all you ladies who get out and do this early, though. But I would forget I had what I bought early without keeping a notebook of the gifts. And I might want to change my mind over the course of the year. Besides, I don't really have storing space for any gifts to sit in my closets for a yaer. So I had rather wait and buy my gifts closer to Christmas when they go on sale. I never buy anything that isn't on sale! That is, except maybe an electronic game or movie for the kids, but I didn't buy many of those this year.

Well, that's how to buy gifts, anyway. I've found you can buy expensive gifts cheap if you just watch the sales. I do it all the time! What I bought for my grandkids at Christmas last year (not this past) would have cost me a fortune if I hadn't found some great sales! That's the only way I buy! I don't blame you for buying that way for your friends. I don't buy for friends myself, close or not.

Hi Barb42
Well the gifts I have bought are not for my close family just friends. I spent a lot on my friend and her daughters last year with little appreciation so I decided not to do it this year and they can have some gifts bought from the sales at real cheap prices!!
Thanks for your response

The only thing I have picked up is my supplies for this year. I have enough wrapping paper to complete the task. But have no presents to wrap. I have very little space to store things so I have been waiting until the final moment the past two years. I am hoping to begin a little earlier this year. Good for you having done some of that already. It does take the stress out of the holidays and allow us to enjoy them a little more.

Hello tammytwo
I think last year it dawned on me just how many gifts I had to buy for people for Christmas. I must admit that I did start early last year, though not this early, and I did notice how stress free the Christmas season really was and what a difference it really did make.
Thanks for responding

My word, you're in overdrive! It's great to be thinking ahead, but methinks it's way too early to be preparing for Christmas 2009. LOL
I didn't do too much shopping this past year, but I plan to give myself the next 10-11 months to do this. There's a lot that can happen in that time, and would like to be prepared for these possibilities.
Have fun shopping!

I used to do that, but I got tired of having stuff accumulate and when I stored it away, I'd forget what I'd bought and for who it was intended. I'll start next month when I've recouped a bit of cash. Due to the state of economy there should be some great deals out in the coming months! I always like to have a few spare gifts around the house for unexpected events.

Hi y di1159
It is difficult for people to buy things as this time of year as they are still trying to get over the expense of Christmas but Christmas shouldn't be expensive as we should reflect on what it is really all about. By doing some gift buying now it gives me time at Christmas time to think and do the really important stuff, visiting people and spending time with the kids!!
Thanks for your response

It is nice to hear that you got some great deals on January sales, so great that you were able to buy gifts for Christmas as early as now. Oh well, shopping for Christmas is something that I will not do just yet. I just feel that it is a bit early. I am thinking of those coming birthdays, that, I might do shopping for that one.
