I'm not much of a TV watcher at all, but Wednesday, February 7, on ABC at 10 p.m. there will be a Barbara Walters Special where she will interview Patrick Swayze.
If you're a Patrick Swayze fan then you may have been aware that last year he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I've been a fan of his ever since I saw him in the classic movie of his that made him famous, Dirty Dancing.
So if you're a fan of his you might be interested in watching this show...and maybe after it's over we can talk about it here.
So...are you a fan of his...if so besides Dirty Dancing, what other movies have you seen him in? I saw him in the mini-series North and South, Next of Kin, Roadhouse, Ghost, City of Joy, Tiger Warsaw, To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar, Point Break, Three Wishes, Red Dawn, Tall Tales of Pecos Bill ....sheesh..didn't realized I had seen so many...

Thanks for the info! I just watched a clip of the interview and was wondering what time it would be on tonight. Big fan here too, I've seen most of his movies. Did you know that he has a new series called 'The Beast', in which he will be playing FBI agent Charles Barker? It will be on A&E sometime early this year.

I am sorry that I missed this interview. I knew nothing about it and heard nothing about it. Although not a big one, I am a fan of Patrick Swayze. I have liked so many of his movies but one of my all time favorites is The Outsiders which I think was one of his very first movies.

The Outsiders was such a great movie. One of those that I can watch over and over and over and over again. Lots of others that were just starting out like C Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio, Emilio Estevez and Leif Garrett were also in it. Oh, and Diane Lane too
I read the other day that Patrick Swayze was in the hospital. Haven't read any more though so hope all is ok.

On Tuesday the TV show "The View" showed a clip from the interview. From what I saw it appears to be a very honest, open, no frills interview. If I can stay awake long enough I will watch it.

I was really shocked at the callousness of that question. The poor lady did not know what to say. She seems devastated at the question.
BTW I saw that Patrick Swayze checked into hospital with pneumonia today. I hope he is OK as he did not look well at all in the interview.

So did you watch it? I loved his fighting spirit. Thought it was rather stooopid that Walters asked his wife how would she feel with him "gone"--like duh?

Yeah, I heard about him going into the hospital today. Bad enough he's dealing with his cancer and now pneumonia.

I saw the program and it was so heartbreaking to see him and his wife together because it was so obvious how much they loved one another. Not only that but did you see how Patrick looks? He looks so sickly instead of that handsome dude he once was. He's in stage 4 in his cancer, although I'm not sure how many stages there are but being a stage 4 doesn't sound good at all. Have you seen "Along for the ride"? He's the star role in that movie and it's really really good! All in all, I hope he's able to beat the damned cancer! I'm rooting him on!!

Yes, I did noticed how wane he looked, not at all the way he used to, and yes, it was very touching when he was being interviewed with his wife, Lisa right by his side..they've been married 33 years...like wow! Not good news..did you hear that on Friday he was admitted to the hospital due to pneumonia....so now double prayers are needed his way....usually if one gets pneumonia while having cancer that's not a very good sign.

NO!! Really? Oh man pye.... I've loved him since I first saw him. He doesn't compare or come close to any of the others that women seem to swoon over, like Tom Cruise and the others. Man I hope he makes it!! Damn it. I didn't know this. I guess I'm too wrapped up in my own problems to notice anybody else's but it sure as hell isn't intentional. Where did you find this out? I've looked all over the internet months ago looking for any information on him and couldn't find anything new or the latest and when I saw he was coming on Barbara Walters show, I knew I had to see it. Man I hope he makes it!!

Already read all the news about it this morning... on the internet.
He is too young for dying of cancer. But such is life.
Not a huge fan of his.
Something about his face expression I don't like.
Even so I cannot judge... because I did not see all his movies... my favourite one was Roadhouse. Loved the music. I bought the CD "Roadhouse". And then bought the CD of the Jeff Healey Band "Hell to Pay".

Age really doesn't have anything to do with it...how would you explain children dying from cancer? From what I understand, pancreatic is the worse cancer to get. It'd be great if somehow he does manage to be the odds.

First it is January 7th. I should know , it is my birthday. I must be the only person who was old enough to see dirty Dancing but didn't. it isn't my type of film. I loved Patrick in Roadhouse. That Is my type of film. In fact I live my life by the adage. " Be nice until it is time not to be nice." I liked To Wong Foo also. And I did see Ghost. I am looking forward to this interview and his new series. Have you heard about his new series? It is called The Beast. It is an action thriller that will air on A&E.Oops, do you have cable? I have forgotten.

They may. I am not sure. After seeing the special, we now know that he finished 13 episodes so when they have aired, they will wind up on DVD so if they don't re air The Beast online , maybe you can rent it at NetFlix.

Yes I heard about his new series The Beast but since it's on A&E can't watch as I don't have cable--unless maybe once it's on they might have it reply on their website??? Some commercial stations reply their shows on their websites

I have been looking forward to tonight's show. I just wish it was one under happier circumstances. I am not a huge movie watcher but I have seen Ghost over and over. From some of the clips of tonight's show that I have seen it is going to be a really good one and I think I need to have the kleenex handy.

The waterworks didn't start with me until Walters started interviewing his wife, Lisa...wow they've been married 33 years, can you imagine that? That's nearly unheard of in Hollywood-land

Hi pyewacket! I like Patrick Swayze especially when I watched Ghost a long time ago. I have seen only a few of his movies but do love the way he portray his characters. i have seen a preview of the interview and that was the only time that I learned that he has pancreatic cancer. I hope that he gets well and a miracle will just be around the corner. I admire his courage and I hope he will survive cancer.
Take care and have a nice day!

I watched the Special with Patrick Swayze. It broke my heart. I felt for his wife. To have been together for over a quarter of a century and know that it will not last much longer has to be heart wrenching. He put on a brave front but I think he's pissed at the paparazzi for spreading such horrible lies. I couldnt imagine having to deal with the worst cancer possible and have to read the tabloids that I have days to live. I would think thats the last thing I would want to deal with. Shame on the tabloids for using someones failing health to sell papers. My thoughts and prayers are with Patrick and his wife. dl

I'm glad you saw the special and yes, it's real heartless how the paparazzi and those tabloids make such a spectacle of his life when at a time like this he and his wife need their privacy

You meant, January 7th, right?
I watched that. It was a good interview. I think Patrick has a very good attitude about his situation and seems to be doing pretty well under the circumstances. It's got to be hard on him, his wife and anyone else close to him, yet they seem to be battling this head on! They are real troopers!
I am a Swayze fan too. I have seen "Dirty Dancing". That one came out when I was a teenager. I bought a copy of it on VHS and used to watch it over and over again....he looked sooo hot in that movie ......
Anyways, I've also seen "Road House", another movie in which Swayze was extremely hot in!....And how I would have loved to have been that lady doctor in the roof scene....ahem...
Anyways....I have also seen "Point Break", "Ghosts", "To Wong Foo", "Next of Kin", "Black Dog", "Letters from a Killer", "Three Wishes" and "Father Hood".

I just loved the fighting spirit he showed and demonstrated throughout the interview, didn't you? I did think it was a bit insensitive for Walters to ask his wife Lisa how she would feel if he were to pass on..like duh?

Thanks for letting me know, I don't watch much TV anymore, I am always at my computer.
I am a Patrick Swayze fan also, I used to love his movies. I remember seeing him in Dirty Dancing and in Next Of Kin. Those were great movies and he is a really good actor.
I am really praying that he can beat the odds and overcome in his fight and battles with cancer.
For all of the fans out there, they say that the power of prayer is pretty strong and if we all just take a few moments to pray for a fellow human being maybe we can help.
It don't matter what your religion is, Just Pray!

Yup, I love Next of Kin..think that was one of the first movies Liam Neeson was in...wasn't it?? Heard the news today that Swayze was admitted into a hospital due to pneumonia...so double prayers for him, right?ar

Well, I caught the special.Had been looking forward to it since I heard it mentioned on The View. I am a tv watcher and old movie buff. He is an extremely strong individual. His wife is also. I enjoyed To Wong Foo so much. What a guy(and the other two as well) to take such a chance on this type of storyline. Great movie! And Ghost- WOW! It would be so sad to have just a year or so of The Beaast and that is all. He has quite a fight ahead of him. Miracle is right! I wish him well.

I am a big fan of Patrick Swayze and love all the movies he has played in. The one I loved him the best in was Ghost. I think he did a outstanding performance in that. I am sad that I missed this special on him. Maybe they will have something else on him. I am interested in his background. I think it would be very interesting to know.

I am a big fan and I will go right now and set my tivo to record that so I don't miss it. I have a hard time remembering to watch things.
I was devastated when I heard that Patrick had pancreatic cancer. I am a biologist and I know how bad that cancer is and how low the odds are of surviving. I have actually participated in research in that area. It is such a hard cancer to catch and treat. I have been a fan since his Dirty Dancing days, I loved that movie so much that I rented it out of the video store that my parents owned so often that they finally bought me a copy so I would leave the store copy in the store. lol.
I have seen Dirty Dancing of course and Dirty Dancing II (he does a cameo in that one), And like you I have seen the mini series North and the South, Next of Kin, Roadhouse, Ghost, To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar, Point Break, Three Wishes, Red Dawn, and Tall Tales of Pecos Bill.
But you forgot the Outsiders, Youngblood, Black Dog, Letters from a Killer, and Donnie Darko--all of which I have seen. And there were a few more in the IMDB database that I haven't seen.
I am kind of interested in seeing that new series with him in it called Beast that will be on A & E soon.

I sure wish I could see his series The Beast but I no longer have cable. Well, just finished watching the show...I didn't know his cancer was so advanced..stage 4..but so far he seems to be fighting the odds as he should have been "gone" long time ago. I loved his feisty fighting spirit, don't you?
I didn't see The Outsiders, Black Dog or the others you mentioned..may have seen Youngblood though

I love Patrick Swayze - Dirty Dancing and Ghost were two of my favourite movies. I was deeply saddened to hear that he had cancer. I am in the UK and we do not get ABC here so I won't get to see him but I admire him for allowing the public to be a part of his battle with cancer. God Bless you Patrick - you are great.
