Would you quit school when you become famous?

I see a lot of people quit school when they become famous, would you? You're rich anyway. You can afford education but can you afford not to to enroll?

I would have definitely quit school if I became famous. Everybody likes fame and wealth much more than they like school. Even those who go to school do so because in future, they will get a good job and they will earn vast amounts of money. Nobody goes to get an education for the sake of education.

I agree with Maggiepie. It's not all about making money but also for one's well-being.

[b]The only possible way I could connect the two would be if I were of the mindset that thinks of school as simply a means to an end, that end being better off financially. While it's true it can have such a result, the reason I study is to know things. It's not primarily for the income potential. So no. I wouldn't quit. I might go to a better school, though. When I make it big in my field of interest, I probably would quit school. Bill Gates quit school when his computers became a hit. He is rich and famous he doesn't need "education". Besides, who in the world could teach him something he doesn't know already about computers? For me, education is a relative thing. Yes, it is important to have a college degree but formal education has its limits.

Yep, we do have different takes on the situation. :) Not that I hate school or anything but there are a lot of important things that you do not learn in school. Besides, in this digital age, having a college degree or a post graduate degree is no longer as important as it used to be. People are now more valued by what they can offer to their clients or employers. I guess things have changed.

I agree. Those who are smart and rich in life experience are the ones surviving in the game. Could it be that education is now just an added bonus?

Even though i become rich and famous i would still prefer to get my graduation degree. Educations would teach me how to earn more and how to maintain what you already have ,so education is a MUST. Take care.

you'd have to be famous first, I think, to fully understand how difficult it is to juggle career and education together. For me though, at some point, you'd have to think about pursuing school because when you're old and full of wrinkles, unless if you are Gloria Romero, opportunities become lesser. Imagine Gloria R still trying to pose for FHM?????

No way! Not even Gloria Diaz can glorify the FHM cover.

For me, its still better to have education even if i am famous and rich because in education, i can learn many things especially on how to manage my wealth. Being famous and rich is not enough for a person to be happy. He should have education to know how the world and the people around. What's the use of being rich and famous if you are dumb and don't know anything? Eventually, people will fool you and there will come a time that you'll go down so its still better to pursue an education than to know nothing. As they always say, money will perish but education will be with you forever.

No I would not quit school if I become famous. I think that learning is a life long experience. It does not mean necessarily formal learning. One can learn from the internet, from books, from other people experiences.

That's true. There are lots of unconventional ways to learn. Learning is an ongoing process. You got that right.

i always wanted to be rich. where everything you wanted is just a finger away but to trade all without education. i don't think so. education is one thing no one can take it away from you. can't be stolen or what and it's a stepping stone to becoming what i desire the most - that is to be financially stable. oh well, to be rich is everyone's wishful thinking right? =) cheers, modstar.

Well i think you're smart enough and i'm pretty sure you'll get rich soon. That's right, i myself can't imagine enjoying life uneducated (..no offense to those who didn't go to school. i'm sure you have your reasons). I'm not a bright boy in school but still i want my brain to be the standard brain of an educated guy.

I have to be honest here and say that I would end taking school with the intent for a career. I may take courses that I enjoy or think are fun, but not something boring but can get me a job. But I am not in school right now and I would love to be. I do think though that young people should finish their highschool even if they become famous. If it was one of my children I would want to see them still attend school even though they were famous. Just in case.

If I were rich I would go to really good school in other countries. Get more education and learning stuff to do. Put my money more into great use. Normally people who quit school that are wealthy are mostly into the biz (showbiz) anyway.

I don't know. I have never be famous but I might not going to quit my study when I become famous. I know it would not be so easy to be the regular student and become famous at once. People would start to act differently to you, some because of they like you, some because of being jealous. Both would be annoying. But still, I don't think I would waste my teenage moment by leaving school just because of being famous. There are lots of celebrities in my country who still doing the study very well. i believe it would be nice for them to do that because it means they are still care enough for their education which would be needed for their own future.

That's right, modstar. You know, I watched the life story of Lindsay Lohan back then when she was in the school. After the 'Parent Traps', the movie which made her very popular back then, she tried so hard to be the ordinary student at school. Not so easy, she admitted but she wanted to enjoy the school days just like normal kids do. So I think more than the education, living the normal life by continuing the study is the most important reason why we don't quit school when we become famous.

Could that be the reason why she's being rebellious now? Maybe she's fed up with fame and may want to live a normal life.

O yes that's really true. Being famous comes with lots of consequences. So one must be prepared for it especially if she's going to continue studying.

Its just people start to enjoy on what they've got. Life is short so enjoy, until you breath your last. But for me, I still go to school, because we still don't know what will be our future if we have not completed a course even we are rich enough.

I won't. Famous does not mean rich and rich does not mean your wealth will last forever. Education is something which stays with you forever and might help you the next time you need to find a job. Also, it improves other soft skills too and I personally feel that there are more advantages than disadvantages. Remember that nothing lasts forever. Even if you are filthy rich now, you will lose everything if you cannot manage it well. That's why you can see so many artists or celebrities who have retired before this, are now coming out again to create albums and concerts. Because their money has dried up and they can't find a proper job. Don't be too egoistic. Wealth does not last forever, knowledge does and knowledge on how to manage your wealth is even better.

hi there modstar! even if i become famous or rich, i still wouldn't want to quit school. education is the most important part of human life. no other fortune can replace the value of a college degree or beyond. with education, you can go a long way even if you lose your fortune or fame. you also gain the respect of society because you completed your education and endured years of challenges, hardships and patience. and, like what my relatives say... "Fame and fortune fade away quickly. But one's education lasts a lifetime" and yes, that is true. famous celebrities eventually fizzle out into obscurity. fortunes eventually drain away (e.g., economic crisis, theft, etc.). but even if you lose your fame or fortune, as long as you have your education with you, you can still stand up once again and go on with life. =) thanks and more power to you!

I couldn't agree more. Education will lasts a lifetime indeed. Plus, the respect. The discriminating society will treat you better when you're educated.

Cash isn't THE defining thing, the one that tells us that we've gone far, it's still a decent piece of education that matters. Of course, I'd quit my school... to move to a better one. Harvard, perhaps? LOL.
