Inauguration Road Closures - Shoot me now!

OK, please excuse me while I vent.
I have lived in the Washington DC area for 20 years now. I have seen a number of presidents come and go and I have to say that road closures and the restrictions being placed on Virginia residents is obsurd!
Our traffic sucks to begin with, the simple task of going to the market to get milk can take up 30 minutes and it is only a mile away (this is not an exageration) why would they want to compound this hellish situation with closing every major road for the inauguration, unless you are a dignatary, What about us normal people that live and work here. They have never done it in the past.
My office is open on Tuesday, yes, I have to get up and fight with all the people going to the inauguration so I can get to work. The road closures and restrictions are just going to make this simple task 10 times worse!
This is so stupid, if this is the change that Obama is bringing to Washington, I want to vote again!
How would you feel in this situation?

I have a couple of opinions here. First...I am disappointed that ya'll are open on Inauguration Day...but given the industry it's in, I guess I'm not surprised. Second, it's ONE day sweetie. I agree that the closures will cause alot of people ALOT of problems but at least you're not going all the way into the city. Just breathe...it'll be ok. :)

I don't think it will be OK, when I can't get to the school pick up my daughter because I am sitting on 95 with tens of thousand other people. It is not OK and Obama should not be getting special treatment.
My last company never closed on inaguration day either and I traveled into DC and didn't have to deal the road closures and crap that I will be dealing with working outside of DC.
Its just not right.

I have just created a discussion on this. As a person who live in the area, we have to be the one who have to deal with the road closure and all. I understand that this is historical and everything, but still, how about us locals?

Just my opinion...since I also live in the area. I would treat it as a weather-related situation. If it snows or ices in our area pretty much everything gets gridlocked until VDOT gets their work done and clear the roads and get things moving again. When meteorologists warn us of a pending snow storm, we head for the grocery store, buy up all the milk, bread and toilet paper...and hunker down until its over. It is ONE day folks. This is an historic inauguration but I think it's unfair to directly blame President-Elect Obama for the traffic issues this is going to create. It's ONE DAY. None of us can change it so just plan ahead and make the best of the situation.
