When I was a kid I wanted to be a Veterinarian or a Secretary. I actually went to school to be a legal secretary but never finished because I got married and moved to America. Now I do Housekeeping. What did you want to be when you grew up? And what did you end up doing? Did you follow your childhood dream?

I also wanted to be a veterinarian when I was growing up. I even worked at a veterinarian office for a short while. But shortly after I found out that I was pregnant with my first child it was recommended by my boss that I quit, so I did. I've been a stay at home mom ever since.

I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. Not writing novels or anything like that, but more of a journalist or something like that. MyLot is the closest I got to that childhood dream.

When I was in school, I liked typing up my homework. I decided to be a secretary, an English teacher or librarian. My parents didn't have money to send me to college, however. So after graduating h.s., I got hooked up in the City of Phila. as a civil servant - in the clerical field - for 39 years. After retiring 3-1/2 yrs. ago, I am doing volunteer work that includes typing. I dislike housekeeping.

Hey missy! That's very interesting! I wanted to be a nurse! I ended up being a Legal Secretary! I also ended up working as a Medical Assistant/Secretary! I didn't exactly ever end up following my dream. At least I did get to work somewhat in the medical field and I did enjoy it, but it wasn't long enough. I spent more time working in the legal field and that turned out to be very stressful and aggravating!

I used to want to be a dentist when I was little. I also wanted to be a waitress. I never did either of those things and I don't regret it. When I was working before children I was always a secretary.

When I was a kid I knew that I wanted to work in law or medicine and even though at the time I couldn't do either it really used to bug me trying to figure out which way I wanted to go. So..I went to college did two years of prep study for nursing school. Got into the nursing program spent a year at it and hated it. So I dropped out and became a paramedic. I loved that. I spend 4 years in the Air Force working an emergency room. When I got out of the Air Force there happened to be a job opening for Communications Specialist with the Department of Public Safety. I worked 4 years as a 9-1-1 Operator and Police & Fire Dispatcher, then switched departments and did just police dispatching. I loved that too. I'm lucky that I got to work in both the fields I wanted to. I was unlucky that an injury cut my careers short. Now I'm working on developing my third career which is nothing I imagined.
