I know with the Economy being the way it is, more people are loosing jobs, and more and more people continue to come online to seek ways to earn some Extra $$. Maybe there are some of you in here who your sole earnings is from online, and it has been for quite a while as well. Or maybe you have a Good paying job that you consider to be safe, and you are online earning a little extra just to be able to do something extra?
For me, I am working Full time as a Call Taker/Dispatcher for a Cab company and even if it is a Job, and definately helps pay the bills, it is not something I would really want to be doing 20 yrs. from now as well. For me my lifelong dream is to be a Writer, and become well known. But until that day comes, I find myself doing what I can online to help get there, and work for someone else to help make ends meet as well. I just always seem to need Good ideas on places to try writing for where I can earn more as well. Like maybe find a Freelance opportunity to try, and go from there.
So, what is working for you, and if you lost a job could you survive, or would you be in trouble? I know though what works for someone else will not always work for me, but if you have some tips you want to share that might help those of us looking for more, please share. Just no referral links please.
Wishing you all the Best.

Personally I think that is becoming the norm almost everywhere. It is sorry to hear that your husband had to take a Pay Cut, but at least he is still working. I know I am Glad to have a job, and have my husband working as well, but it never hurts to continue to want to find more better ways to make extra $$ online as well.

I think that my job is pretty safe. I run a home daycare and as far as I can see, woman are always going to have babies, so as long as their jobs are safe, mine is too.
My husbands job is in jeopardy. They have cut so many of the workers. He works for a grocery store change and they have closed many of the stores. He usually works 6 days a week and they just cut him down to 5 days, so we will be missing that overtime for sure.
He is thinking of looking into taking one of the tests for a county job. It is smart to start looking now to be safe.

Well, they just cut my husbands overtime as well. He is still safe where he works as he has been there now for over 23 yrs. but they had to cut back on overtime there as well. As for my job I am pretty safe due to the amount of yrs. I have been there, but would Love to eventually find something else for sure. I am constantly checking to see what is out there, and continue to check out extra ways to earn some extra $$ online in the meantime as well.

I'm a writer. I submit stuff to magazines and contests. I've started doing poetry slams, poetry readings, and selling my poetry magazines. Most of my money is earned online. I blog for three sites and write here here. I don't make a fortune, but about $150.

I am a stay at home mum, so luckily luckily my husband has a good paying job. In this economy nothing is stable or secure, I only pray that the situation will improve. If hubby looses job it will be back to work for me... I have no idea how people make a living online, it seems that a majority of the sites are scams.

Good luck with your dreams, never give up on them. I have heard of a site called associated content, thats suppose to be a writing site. I am sure you will find some other sites as well. Right now my income is from selling on ebay, last month was a good month. Not much is happening this month. I have faith that things will pick up. Take care.

I have written a couple of Articles on Associated content, and actually have quite a few more I need to submit there and see if I can get paid in there from them. Just never seem to take the time to try as lately I am so busy. But that is a Great site if you like to Write. Hope your Ebay selling is going well for you.

We've been through a lot of tight financial times in our lives, and we could weather a storm again if we had to. I work as a substitute schoolteacher, and that's a job that isn't going anywhere. In addition, I have a more-than-part-time writing job online that I enjoy immensely, because I like working from home. It took me several years to find this job, but it can be done as long as you have the writing skills that people are looking for. The most important thing is to get online and start networking in order to meet the right people. I know you do that, Tina, and I wish I could help you more, but my employer only has one writer.

I have many online sites, that I work at each month. That is not all of my income but is the additional money, that I like to make to do extra things or to save for a rainy day! I have a very long list of earnings sites. I have increased them.

I'm trying to find lots of ways to make extra money. Right now, I'm doing Ciao.com, Mylot, Comparedby.us, and eBay (when I can). It's not that much right now, but every little bit helps out. It can help by a little bit of groceries here and there. That's always a good thing.

I lost my job in December of 2008, I am now living off my severance pay. After that I will be eligible for unemployment insurance, after that I will be in big trouble. I am not old enough for retirement yet, but too old to be trying to find a job until retirement which is right around the corner for me. I am trying to find some ways to make a little money online to help pay some of my expenses. I had a little money invested well you know the outcome of that, I just see no way out right now. I am just living on a prayer and trying to find some way to make earnings.

I am living off of unemployment, which is not nearly enough to cover my expenses. It is really hard to find a job, and things are really really tight for me right now. My husband is a commission only salesman for a major carpet company. For the last three weeks he did not receive any pay, because all of his customers cancelled their orders. I guess they had second thoughts on spending money on carpeting. If things do not get any better I do not know what I will do or where I will be.
I do not even have all the money I need for rent, which is due on the 1st.
Chevee, why can't you collect your unemployment yet, why do you have to wait until the severance is over. I received severance and was able to collect at the same time. I guess it depends on what state you live in.
I wish you all well, and pray that all of us who are without jobs, will be working again soon.

I'm employed as a Software Developer and myLot is only for extra money - if I reach payout then I just stock it in my account and then when I have enough to withdraw it without fees then I will :D And I'd have money to spend at my leisure.
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I'm a stay at home mom and have been for over 20 years, hubby is the one that brings home the paycheck. So far they haven't laid off anyone and I'm hoping they don't. He knows how to do everything at his workplace so even thou he would be one of the last to go, it is a scary thought. I work on line to make a little extra for us.
If he was to lose his job we would be in SERIOUS trouble. Although he does have the company that he worked for before to fall back on (they tried getting him back this year) but they pay less and we live from check to check now.

All my earnings, which isn't very much, come mostly from this site. I do surveys every now and then, but not as often as I should as I just can't get into it like mylot, especially when it says I don't qualify to take a survey. It's a bit discouraging to say the least.
I'm a stay at home mom and my husband is the sole provider in our family. If he was to lose his job we basically would be screwed. With me having practically no work experience I can't see anyone hiring me if I was looking for a job. And with the economy the way it is, it lessens my chances even more.
Plus my husband told me he will be going away for work coming up. With him being gone for weeks or even a month or more at a time someone has to be home for the kids, and that someone is me. Hiring a babysitter would be out of the question as they would most likely end up earning more than I can make. What would be the point of me working then? Plus I don't want someone taking care of my kids anyway.
If anyone knows of any online legit work that is dial-up friendly and that I can do at my own pace, be sure to PM me.

I don't know of any writing freelance sites to earn money. I do belong to another site that I try to do along with mylot and that is gather. I have just as much fun there earning points towards gift cards or paypal. I haven't made payout yet, but closing in there. I sure couldn't make a living to pay bills by doing these things on line, but it does help with the extras from time to time. Every penny does add up. You can find a link to gather in my profile and if you are already a member there, let me know what you go by so that I can add you as a friend there.

There is nothing like a regular paycheck fro a traditional job. I think online earnings are ok, but I rarely find people actually make a living online. If they do there are a million people willing to do the same thing for cheaper so their talents have to be rare or unique or outstanding.

Me and my husband are both working and his job is more risky as compared to mine.I am getting a decent package and doing well in my job.I am working online because it is my passion to share my views and opinions with other people.I discuss about lot of things here and i get mental satisfaction.I am here not for money but for some learning experience.
