I always shut my two cell phones off at night when I sleep.
I have had a number of disturbing calls with them on and usually these people are pranksters.
There is nothing like a good nights sleep and if your colleague does not like this tell him or her to stop bothering your beauty sleep.
You do want to look good for them don't you?
Crocket.

I love having my cell phone. I do not turn it off at anytime unless I'm at the hospital or doctors office where it doesn't need to ring. I don't turn it off then I leave it in the car or put it on vibrate. I never know if someone might need to call and the home phone might not work.

I think you are completely in the right to turn off your cell phone while you are sleeping. If it upsets your colleagues, tough stuff. They need to realize that you need to take care of yourself, before you can take care of them. Your rest is very important, so take it when you can get it, and let them wait for you to call them back.

Well, I don't turn my cell phone off. There are nights where I'm so tired, I would love to shut off the phone so that no one disturbs me in the morning. But I don't have the nerve to do it because I think, what if there's an emergency and someone calls and doesn't find me. I don't think I would be able to live with myself if something happened and that person didn't find me.

The mobie should not be switched off at nights. Some people like you think that for there should not be any disturbance in there sleep as they want rest. But iff u get some emergency calls from your relatives or friends or something which is very urgent from you..Well there will be another position of getting unnecessary calls and sms at night's. But for balancing of both sides of emergency calls and unnecessary calls, there is a high position of may be getting any urgent calls, so you should not switch off your phone, as it may be very helpful for others from you rather than a well sleep..;)

Hi punmsharma,
Definitely! In fact, I always switch off my cell phone at night before I go to sleep. Why waste battery power?
Besides, I wouldn't want my sleep to be interrupted.

Hi there punmsharma!
Before, my cell phone is on 24/7. But I do not think it is necessary. Sometimes, when I really need to rest and I wouldn't want anyone disturbing my sleep, I would turn off my cell phone before I sleep. There are instances when I know that some people might be calling me anytime at night, so I do not turn off the cell phone if that is the case.
Well, you can always inform your colleagues that you actually turn off your cell phone at night. That way, they wouldn't call you up anymore. Moreover, they would understand.

I leave my cellphone on because I use it as my alarm clock when I go to sleep. I don't usually get any calls in the late hours but I still leave my phone on.

I am not sure what to do to make other people understand that it is your cell phone and you do what you want with it.
I hope you get to sleep well and that your friends understand, that sometimes you simply do not want to talk on the cell.
Good luck.

I don't have a choice but to switch off my cell phone at night if I am go get any sleep. A male acquaintance bought the phone for me so he could talk to me whenever he wanted, it is one of those two-way phones, and he abuses the privilege. I have a 3 year old grand daughter that I take care of and he alerts the phone all night long and keeps us awake. I turn the phone off to be able to sleep. He has no respect for the little one trying to sleep or for my 84 year old mother either. I have tried to give the phone back to him since it causes problems. There is no way I can have a relationship with this man?

I usually do turn off my cell phone at night. When I get up in the morning the first thing I do is turn on my cell phone. I see no reason to keep it on at night. Besides my husband keeps his on, so if someone really needed to get a hold of me they can call him.

I leave it on in case something urgent happens to my parents ore parents in law. However most of the times I put it in a drawer downstairs and I don't hear it in case it rings. ONce someone called anonymously around 4.30am. The anonymous phone call woke me up but did not speak. So from that time onwards i prefer to put it somwhwere when it does not disrupt my sleep

The caller ID does not work when our phones are off, which becomes annoying when someone says they have called for some emergency though they did not bother to leave a message, and sometimes, people use that excuse, of knowing your phone was off, but they did call you..and so on. With my other phone and number, I would turn off the phone as the battery was not too great and that saved power. Plus, I had people that called often at times when they should not. Now, I just turn my phone on silent if I do not want to be interupted. I can see who called, and if they did not leave a message, I atleast know they did. Plus, it lets you know if you have a stalker or not, if people think your phone is off, leave no message, yet call over and over in hopes you may answer, though they do not want you to know they are doing this.. you at least find out that person has "that" mindset.

Heavens NO way would I switch my cell phone off at night!
I use the many features that my phone offers, like the calendar, alarm, music player, the other things like the task reminder, I have unlimited text messages so I pickup various emails from there as well. As you never know when I'll have to use the information that I receive in my text messages in box. I especially use my alarm very heavily. So like wise, I happen to use the SNOOZE feature daily as well. LoL!
