How can I get my star to go up?

I know how the ratings and stuff work, or at least I thought I did but I have been at the same number for quite some time now. Is it really that difficult to increase? Do people just not like me enough to push the plus? I was just wondering. Not complaining or anything. What do you guys think about your own stars (besides the good people who are forced to start over on here)...

No, that isn't it. People like you. It truly does take a very long time for the star status to go up. I imagine people are rating you positive, but it is a slow process to go up the "star chain". My star dropped before, and then months later, it went back up. It just takes a really long time. I don't imagine it is because people are rating you negative or your star would go down. And if anyone is reading your posts, I'm pretty sure they would press the plus. It's so easy and I it is habit for me. Any post I read gets a rating.

Yes, I've been hanging at 94 for a while now and since I started this discussion, it has went down. I suppose I shouldn't worry about it but I take it personally as I try very hard not to confront and/or offend anyone.

I didn't want to mention that. Over the years several people have posted discussions like yours, nothing wrong about posting it. But people tend to give a negative rating when they read these discussions. I think it is because so many people have posted about this. Like I said, nothing wrong talking about it. I know it is quite frustrating.

I have been at my same rating for years! That is becausee the stars is rated on a percentage basis so at your current points of 618, 94/100% you would only need 6 plus ratings to go up to 95/100%.

Nice try! How condescending of you!! I have 78/100 which equals 78% (simple mathematics). MyLot explains it in much simple terms and a whole lot less words that you did i.e.
Why is my reputation going down?
Your star rating relies solely on the myLot users.
Your number goes up or down depending on how your discussion/responses are rated by the myLot community

Thank you guys, not quite sure I get it all though. I guess I'll just keep typing away and hope people enjoy what I have to say. I have never said anything offensive so I'm not quite sure about some peoples rationalle but I guess I'm not meant to understand it all! Thanks for responses guys!

I think cornyman_new should wait until he/she gets a star before spouting off.

People have to rate your discussions high. you have to get a good rating for all of them. I think that you will if you can keep writing good discussions and getting good ratings on them. I think that there are enough discussions out there that you can get good ratings on. Just keep starting and answering discussions the best way you can.

Yeah, it just seems like everyone has far different expections of what is good and what is not. It seems I may have irritated someone yesterday, as I have went down another point.

I think most of us are pushing plus over here. As I also do that. You can see my stars are at 8 only. This is the same for the last 3 months and to tell you the truth, it is on 81/100 and 82/100 these days. I wonder what is the algorithm of mylot for the stars rating. Most of us are doing good job over here and getting n number of responses for our discussions but still our star doesn't go up but sometime, it will go down!
I wonder!

Yea, it seems a bit odd. The neg button seems to have much more effect than the plus. I don't understnad it but I suppose I'm not meant to!

So I have only been using mylot for a day now and I don't actually know what the stars are? So apparently they are some sort of ranking system does it affect how much you get paid?

Don't worry because in time your stars will go up, just continue participating on quality discussion and make your own quality discussion as well. This way you will increase it. Personally i don't really mind the stars as long as i have shared my thoughts and others appreciate it. Maybe some of yours comments are not rated yet so don't worry because one day you will be surprise when you see improvements. happy mylotting!

I don't know if this works for everyone, but what I do is try to avoid heated debates and be civil with everyone, whether or not they agree with something I say, no matter how rude they themselves may get. I don't want to sink to their level, after all.
Believe it or not, I started with a 6 and worked my way up to a 10. Through the time I've been here my rating has bounced up and down, a little here, a little there. It's been holding pretty steady for the past year or so, but none of us can ever expect to make everyone on here happy and we are bound to upset someone every now and then, which usually means getting a negative rating. It sucks, but it does happen, even to the best of us.
Just continue to post and hopefully your star will go up. Good luck!

I think the best way is to keep putting good comments which are not offensive and is neutral. Of course you will not be controversial and might be giving boring answers but if people see that your point is a good one then they will give you a good rating. It is not really important the star thing. Cheers^^

it is not clear how the star rankings go up and down.
some people have writen lot of posts but thier rrank is lower than those who have less posts.
it is not clear when the star rank goes up and down. does it depend on writing long answers or writing quality answers. ?

My star jumped up pretty quickly for awhile. Every day when I'd log in, I'd have a higher number. Then it just stopped at 9! I don't post any differently than I used to, so I don't know why my star is stuck at 9! It's been at 9 for months and months and months now! I hope it goes up soon! And I hope yours goes up as well!

Be patient, as long as you post sensible discussions and good answers , you will soon get your stars. As much as possible rate positively as many answers as can. Use all the features available here at mylot and be positive in everything you do. Good luck.

star numbers can increase or decrease according to the reputation u have here. if u'r answers are good and if u give more answers ,u can get good star here.
so give more answers and u can good star.
but star cant effect our earning i think.
