Members disapearing

Canada

I read a discussion recently about mylot weeding out members and this person told someone to watch the population. So I looked after I read it and it said 159,866 and guess what?????????? I just looked and it says 159,827???? MyLot is really weeding that's a 40 member decrease. I hope none of our good friends have been affected by this although I know some have, I hope no one else does. According to guidelines all you need to have an account here is a unique paypal ID and it seems even though some legit members that do have their own paypal accounts are being banned....... So what do you think of all of this? Is MyLot doing a good thing here or do you think they are taking it a bit far?

I think what people are failing to realize is just how expensive it is to keep 'active' pages on a database, and pages of profiles and their attending pages. A website that has over a million and a half 'registered' users needs occasionally to drop from their database the profiles and pages of non-active users and those that have been banned. So to see 200, 80, or 40 accounts disappear at a time is just a drop in the bucket really against the numbers of users that are no longer active for what ever reason. It's not like you can't re-sign up, even if you've been banned. Perhaps some active users have been caught up in the purge, but mylot is not famous for the total effectiveness of all their algorythims and a little patience is in order to give them time to work out all the bugs.....

It is very possible that they are doing this because of space issues but why did htye have to remove ZU? What did she do to anyone here?

Zu got banned from what I understand because of a troll. She then closed down her next account of her own free will. I know that some people got caught up in the 'purge', but as I said, that could be faulty algo's and false reportings resulting in bannings that all took place around the same time. I think too many people are looking for links to what's going on than actually exist...........

I think they are just cleaning up the inactive accounts. I know I have some friends on my list that haven't been active for the last three months and some even longer, so I think mylot is deleting their accounts. I think this is a good idea so we get a better understanding of how many members are actually here still. I know I respond to some discussions sometimes and then go into the person's profile to see they haven't been logged in for the last 6 months. Their discussions still float around and people can still respond to them, but they are inactive so they probably don't recieve any earnings for them. I think a lot of people forget about the site and have been a member since day one, two years ago, and will probably never be back so why not get rid of them totally. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

According to the other person that posted on a similar topic they do it in the mornings and I noticed that a little while after I posted this one it stopped but watch tomorrow morning in the last 2days it has been about 300 members!!! And great members like Zu have been banned she has been here forever and a few others I know, Its just not right that this is all being started by some jerk that wants to get back at us for being upstanding MyLot citizens

While I was posting this I noticed the number was down to 159,823 and then right after I posted it, it went up to 159,824 so another member has just joined.

Now it is way up again at 159,901 so I guess we got a lot of new members since yesterday.

I've heard a few members say their accounts have been inactive and then a few days later reactivated. But there's a catch, they've lost their earnings, not all of it but most of it... I wonder why?!? Sounds fishy to me.

Very fishy indeed! I am starting to wonder if maybe they do not have enough to may us all anymore?

I guess there are many who are have legitimate accounts in the same household who are probably having to pay the consequences if myLot are cleaning up after those who are also cheating, and probably referring themselves too. There have been many sites that have had problems with cheaters recently and it is akways the honest members who come off worst. I noticed yesterday that the population was increasing at an amazing rate and I was doubtful that suddenly all those were really new members in the true sense of the word. I hope that myLot will be able to stay above these and other problems caused by cheating and that they will never have to 'shut up the shop' as other sites have done.

Hello diana, they re-activated my account some hours ago, but the earnings for January are missing, around 6,40 $ . And now i saw that the member myLot_payment is banned, too. So i can't ask about the payment and if they will credit the days until the "inactivation" again into the earnings sheet. Have a great time in myLot!

I sure hope I'm not one of those members that get deleted. I haven't broken any mylot rules at all but there are times in a week, where I have no time to write but when I get back to it I try to do some catching up here. Working a full time job takes time away from being online for me but on my days off I always spend spare time here.

They never have deleted people for only being on once a week or month. They are deleting multiple accounts AND they are deleting peoples accounts that someone has accused of bullying even though all the members were doing was responding to the person discussion. I hope you get to stay too cause that would suck. They have taken enough of our friends away.

Well, without knowing what they're doing and why, it's hard to say. They may just be weeding out inactive accounts.

just as corney man said they are not deleting inactive accounts he has $16 accrued that is not an inactive member.

Actually, that's two different issues. One is the question of sharing an IP or an individual reason for being shut out (which I disagree with hugely, by the way - separate people should absolutely be able to post from the same IP), the other is a mass closing of accounts. I would doubt very much that one is related to the other.

I think myLot is probably just getting rid of those members that do not adhere to the guidelines and continually break the rules. Also, if they don't have a legitimate paypal account they can be deleted from the system. This is only my guess as to why mylot would be "weeding out" certain members. I don't think we have anything to worry about if we are sticking to the guidelines.

What I am worried about is the fact that at the time I read the dicsussion the other members stated he saw a decrease of over 200 members. I just don't understand how there would be that many.

Unless there is a post from myLot admin, then we are just speculating on the reasons why this is happening. I know that I have been a member for about 3 years now but also inactive for a lot of that time. Or should I say that I have been active from time to time with maybe making only a few posts, then work etc intervenes and I do not get back for ages. There are many forums/sites which pay members however they only allow one member per IP/ISP. If more than one member per household wants to be a member, they need special permission to do so and also many rules are laid down. It could be that myLot is going down the same track but of course that is only speculation on my part and is not based on actual knowledge of what is happening. Someone commented that myLot admin would know whether it was the same person by the way the posts are written. That is not strictly true because often when people have been together for a long time, they think and talk the same way so why should their writing styles be any different. It is interesting to note that some of those who appear to have been banned or their discussions deleted or whatever, are actually back as members. That alone indicates that myLot are not deleting on the basis of common or shared IP/ISP or else how would those members be allowed to rejoin and post? The other thing is that many people join myLot, make a few posts and do not make the money that they expect. Some of them have not been active since a few days after they joined, so why keep them active. It makes no sense to do so.

As I said in my original response cornyman_new, the only one who can say why a member is banned is myLot admin. I do not know the reasons why it happens and I suspect that most other members are in the same situation. I have no doubt that it would be a blow to be banned and so I can understand why your wife has not yet rejoined. All you can do is ask myLot for a reason why it happened but at the same time it might take a while for them to make an individual response because if the discussions I have read are an indication, it appears a lot of members have been deleted. Who determines what makes a member inactive I wonder. The thing is that a lot of people join myLot and become very active for some time, then due to other committments they are not able to post on myLot. That actually happened to me for quite some time but now I am back again and posting a few days a week. Should I have been deleted because I was inactive? I think that if myLot was to do that, they would end up in a worse situation as many members simpy would not come back at all if that were to happen.

That alone indicates that myLot are not deleting on the basis of common or shared IP/ISP There is not point in banning IP addresses because you can change your IP address on a daily basis. I have no problem with them deleting inactive people but when they start banning members that have been here since the beginning it pisses me off. There is no reason for them to do this to people they know have been here forever just by looking at their profile.

I guess no one can 100% comment on if they are doiing the right then when we dont know if they are banning just anyone or banning people who are actually doing something wrong! With such a huge population on mylot I dont really think a 40 decrease is that much!

There is alot of weird goings ons on this site right now. If you look at the amount of members now it is 159,851 right now. It changes all the time. Mylot has a right to ban anyone of whom they feel is being a problem or that is not following the guidelines. If these people don't want to go by the rules they should start their own site and go by their own rules that they set down. I think Mylot is doing a good thing to get rid of the ones who cause problems and could eventually cause big problems for the rest of us. I really makes me wonder why these people find it so hard to just go by the rules. Rules and laws are made for a reason. They aren't made to cause people to have reason to moan and go on about how unfair it is or anything. It is so the majority can more easily navigate around in peace and harmony and enjoy themselves on here.

Oh, I shall. I looked at the 'cache' and didn't see anything I would think would be objectionable. I am sure they have their reasons. Have you addressed the issue with them? The 'cache' is just the one page picture so I don't know. If you are in Germany maybe it has to do with foreign countries. I would address it to them. I would be curious.

I am not saying it is fair. I am saying I would be curious and I would try to get to the bottom of it because usually most things happen for a reason. And whatever the reason I would want to know it.

Upon checking, mylot population now is 159,812. Do you think people with the same IP address were also banned? Does Mylot require a unique IP address as well? I'm just curious because not all members here have their own computers if that would be the case, others may have joined here through an internet cafe and who knows a lot of people from a certain internet cafe are also members here.

Accord to the mylot tos the only real requirement is that you do not share your paypal ID with anyone else on the site as they see this as being the same person so they will not pay you. So I dunno what's going on but I sure hope they let us know what they are doing so we can all rest easy.

Hi Strawberry, I will not put what I think lol as it would not go down well To many of my good Friends have left or been banned here for no reason, as far as I will say in the 3 Years I have been here this Site seems to be a Troll Site now as they are free on here The People that had been here as long as me and that helped to get the Site up and running have either left or been banned because of Trolls That is all I will say I am not here much any more either and I used to love this Site but looking at the Numbers now it has gone from 159,827 to 159,891 since you wrote this Discussion

They are running amuck here and need to be stopped. he number dropped to 159,814 before it started to go up again. I am betting most of the new members are spammers and will be deleted again. I will never understand why they feel the need to troll people. I seriously don't think their life is worth anything if all they do is stick around in an online forum and create havoc. Thank You so much for coming in and responding to my discussion I have missed you and gissy.

Could it be as simple as members quitting? It doesn't make sense to ban members unless it's spammy ones that join to be a pain in the neck all over the site. Keep watching the numbers and see if it's a steady decline

Do you know how many members are there with few posts and that have been here for years. In my friends list I had about 30 that had under 100 posts and have been members for years and have not loged in for most of that time. I have referals that just came loged in 1 and that was it. I dont think that mylot is doing anything wrong right now as I dont know of anyone who was delited and didnt deserve that.

I've noticed a big jump, I glanced at the population of mylot before I decided to look to see if there was a re-response to my comment. Too many new members are bad, and especially since a lot of those members might not be too keen to follow the guidelines, although everyone's new and naive at one time or another, no matter what the situation is.

I haven't noticed a drastic change in mylot population but if something like this is happening , its not good because throwing out legit members will lead to a loss of some great members and a passive mylot network ...which might decrease its popularity or gain ill fame...

MyLot Payment Proof - The bottom line is payment from MyLot
MyLot is not fake tho. I have payment proof. I think we should at least get an explanation as to why our friends have been banned.
