There is an amusement park about 45 mins from where I live and we usually go once or twice a year. Company picnic is usually enough for me. I have become fond of a certain roller coaster there that calls to me as I enter the gate.lol..My girls like the fast rides too. The name of the park is Dollywood. I have only been to one other amusement park and that was Six Flags in Kentucky. I would like to go to one of the Disney ones. I do like taking the girls to the fair when it comes through too. When I was younger I liked the crazy rides but as I get older I ride them a little less each time..exept for that rollar coaster I was telling you about. So what about you? Do you like going? Which ones have you went to?

I've been to Disneyland, Disneyworld, World's of Fun, Belle's Amusement Park, Frontier City, Six Flags over Texas, and Silver Dollar City. If I've been at others, I've forgotten. But I haven't been to an amusement park in at least nine years. I love them. When I was a kid I was afraid of them. But once I became a preteen no one could keep me off of them.

No, we're talking about two different places. Silver Dollar City is in Missouri, at least the one I'm speaking of. It's still there. I've always wanted to go to Dollywood though.
Frontier City and Belle's Amusement Park are two places in Oklahoma where I live. The others I went to because it was a family vacation. As my parent's got older they couldn't stand to take my sister and I on rides on anymore. The rides made them sick. It annoyed my mom that rides she used to like now made her ill.

WOW! You are an amusement park fan! Silver Dollar City is Dollywood now. I remember going to it as a child when it was silver dollar city if we're talking about the same one. In Tennessee? I was crazy about all the rides as a teen too. The rougher..the better..lol..I have mellowed out a bit but I still like the speed. Thanks for the response!

I went to DisneyLand when I was about 8, and then I've been to 6 flags over Texas several times, Astroworld a few times and the last one I went to was Dollywood - in a wheelchair.
this was back when they let people in wheelchairs and their pushers in free, so we had a senior (our mom), a child under 14 (she was a big 13 my sister's partner's half sister), me and my sister. my sister said she was pushing me so we got in for less than half the price of 2 normal adults.

I live 10 minutes from Dorney Park in Pa. and it has great roller coasters. I am a real roller coaster nut. I also live 1.5 hours from Hershey Park, Pa. so we go there, too. There are others not far from us but I enjoy them and usually we go twice per year but since we spent so much on vacation to Italy last year, we did not go at all this year. We will be hitting a few this summer when we go on a camping trip to several cities in the US. I intend to hit Dollywood. That is the theme park owned by Dolly Parton.
I am like you. I loved all of the rides but find that as I age, I do best with calmer rides, except for roller coasters. I am a HUGE roller coaster nut!!
I have been to Disney many times in my life and have fun there but the lines are so long, I would rather go locally.

Nifty little saucer? What is that?
I know that one time I was in Sea World and had to be in a wheel chair due to stitches in my foot. We got to the front of all of the lines!!

It's like the lighted saucer that you get when you get put on a waiting list at a resturant. You reserve rides for a certain time and your saucer lights up. It's like proof it's your turn for the ride. You have to carry it around all day and it's like 20.00 more but it takes you to the front of those long lines.

Yes it is the theme park owned by Dolly Parton. She had a water park built right next to Dollywood called Splash Country. It been there for about five years now but I still haven't visited that one. I hate the lines too. I have stood in line for over and hour. Thay do have a nifty little saucer that you can pay an extra 20 bucks for and reserve rides for certain times with it. Takes you right to the front of the line. I've not got one yet but they're not a bad idea sometimes.

It is many many years since I last went to an amusement park and in fact that one has now closed down as far as I know. There are certainly none in the country where I live, of within several hours of here in fact. Every year the Agricultural Show comes to town and that is where they have animals on display, all sorts of competitions for cooking from scones, cakes, sweets to jams and preserves. They aso have a sideshow alley type of thing where there are all sorts of games that people can play in the hope of winning some toy, which is not very good I might add. Also rides of all sorts from the Merry-Go-Round for the litte ones right up to the roller coasters etc.
The Agricultural Show generally runs for 2 or 3 days here in the country but goes for 10-12 days in the cities. Even the one near us - well a couple of hours away - we have not been to for some years but now the grandchildren are starting to get to an age where they might enjoy the rides, we have been thinking that we will take them. However at their age, the rides will be restricted for a few years so I can see my partner and I having some rides on the Merry-Go-Round in the next year or so.

I've never been to an amusement park! I've been to a couple show things that have a fair amount of rides, but nothing like the ones at amusement parks. I really want to go to the ones up in Queensland, Australia (i live in South Australia) soon and then later go to America and venture through all their amusement parks. It's hard though because most of the people i know don't really like the rides or say they will go on it but then at the last second chicken out. I would go on them by myself but it's always a lot more entertaining going with a friend.

I moved up to Minnesota in 2005 when the MOA still had The Peanuts. Now it's Nickalodian. I've been pretty much pregnant or with little ones this entire time so we've not been. The last amusement park I went to was Six Flags in Gurnee, Il with my sister-in-law. I can't say that I am an avid rollar coaster fan because of my size, but I do enjoy them time to time. I think now though that I'm much older that I'm loosing the need for speed. I look at the new rides where you're bottom is held up by a thin seat and think in the words of Will Smith "Oh H--- no!!!".
When I was little I adored things like the Tilt-a-whirl, coasters, swings, etc.
When my older kids were little we enjoyed Disneyland and MGM studios. I loved the Teacup ride, but I was very young then. I'm not sure if I could do that again. I also loved the Star Wars ride at MGM. I love rides like that because our technology makes them extremely real.

I like amusement parks. It makes me feel like i am young again.
Actually when i was a kid, my parents didn't let us go to such, i don't know if they themselves would not like amusements or maybe not enough money for us as a family to go.
But anyway since amusement parks are concerned here, the most favored of all, and to what i like to visit most of the time is enchanted Kingdom in our country.
Of Course i would like to go to Hongkong Disneyland too, i hope someday soon. Or else be with my kids and family there where all of us would enjoy every ride and sceneries in there.

They do make you feel young again. I would love to go to the Disneyland near me too. I think that's the one in Florida. When I go I want to stay and get a three day pass that way I have a chance to enjoy everthing. I hear there's alot to see and do and takes more than one day. Thanks for responding.

I still love the amusement parks, but I can no longer go on any of the rides or have fun on the bumper cars, (my favorite). I am now in my late 50's and have stomach problems and arthritis, so there goes the bumper cars and if I get on any rides, I get too dizzy and want to throw up, so there goes the rides. Heck, I get dizzy just watching the merry go round, but I do love all the bright lights, the foods, the noise, the gifts, the games, people watching and just being there with my friends and family having fun!

I haven't been to an amusement park in years! I guess I'm really missing out on the good stuff! I live in London and over here in the UK there's a terrific amusement park called Alton Towers. I went there many years ago and I loved this particular rollercoaster called the Cork Screw!! It went over and over and seemed never ending. I sure would love to go back there but I guess once you lose the habit it's hard to get back into things. I also visited another place, Thorpe Park but this wasn't as good as Alton Towers. Anyway, life goes on I guess. Perhaps I should go with a group that goes to these amusement parks from time to time, I need to start challenging myself a lot more. happy my lotting. Andrew

Hi JenInTn, It looks like we are almost neighbors. Ive been to dolly wood a few times. They have a few good roller coasters. The best one i have been on was at Cedar Point in Ohio, Well their is a few of them their, but i like the Mean Streak the best, Its a old wooden one. I like the old ones compared to the ones on the tubes. Some of the other good ones at cedar point are the Millennium Forse, and the Magnum. I grew up about 2 hours away from cedar point. and always loved going. Another Park that i have been to more that a few times is Kings Island in Ohio. and their they have the Beast which is another great old wooden coaster. I've been to Disney once They have some fun rides. But if you like roller coasters, Cedar Point is the best.
