Slow and steady.
I had a history teacher who said I was really good at things that interested me (history) and that I totally bombed out on what didn't (maps) I never did curb that.
I also have a Learning Disability so anything memory like... forget it. I found ways to cheat that were legal. Like I would write out the times table (adding up) at the start of each math test. I wasn't bringing it in with me and it was quicker then me trying to remember the answers.

Hello Nirose, I am a person who can understand the concepts very quickly and I will be very watchful in the class hours. I will never sleep in the class.Even if the class is boring I try to ask some interesting questions so that the class keeps going. Also I am staying in hostel. While studying we will be in a group.Since I can understand quickly,I use to explain the concepts to my friends and hence it will never forget from my mind. I really thank god for giving me this boon so that I as well as my friends gets benefited.
I like your discussions too.Good luck!
Happy mylotting

Hello nirose! I guess I am the kind of learner who understand quickly but after few weeks forget about it. When I was still in school, I used to be good at the beginning but then at the middle of the school year I am too lazy anymore to study.

For me, the best way to learn is by step by step directions. When teachers only talk about theories, or just lectures and does not demonstrate how something is done, it never gets absorbed. Teachers who engage their students with activities or games while they teach is the most successful in having students retain information. I can even remember teachers from elementary school that taught me more than college professors just based on their interaction.

I was terrible in school, but I've since discovered that everyone has a photographic memory, some people are just better at accessing it than others.
I also came to realize that school (elementary, middle, high) aren't anything to do with learning facts, they're about learning HOW to learn.

I prefer to do the steps myself while someone else talks me through them. Usually it only takes two or three tries to learn something to the point I don't need help with it anymore. So, I am a pretty fast learner. As far as "visual" versus "audible" I am really not sure.... "hands on" is probably the best description.

I'm still in college, so my view might not be completely correct, but from what I can tell I learn better when shown when it comes to most things. With history I tend to do better when the teacher makes it entertaining in some way. I learn fast, but I forget it fast. My mind is like a giant chalk board. At the end of the semester my brain just gets to work erasing and I move on with my life. I wish it wasn't that way, but if you were to ask me something about a class I took my Freshman year I would probably not have an answer (I'm a Junior now). If I don't think I will ever need the information - its gone. If I might use it, I keep the big details but keep the key points. Its weird, but thats how I understand my brain's workings.

I'm a visual learner definitely. And also a physical (I'm not sure if that's what you call it) learner. In school I always found it easier to understand when the teacher showed us what to do, e.g. in science or maths. I have a really short concentration span so I can't sit down and study for long periods of time, I think most people can't. I also remember conversations and things on TV alot more clearly than something in a book (excluding Harry Potter and Twilight :)
Hope this helps :)
