Do you check your honeys pockets before you throw the laundry in?
I never do I figure it should be his job to check the pockets before he throws his clothe in the Laundry Basket.
I don't feel like going through all those pockets, he doesn't have any money so what's the point. Sometimes I get rewarded with little white stuff all over my clothe from paper or empty match books but I just shake it of.
Do you check all the pockets?

I check our pockets to make sure nothing will be wasted, like paper handkerchiefs, and sometimes money.

It's always a surprise when you open the washer door.

No I don't like you I feel that it is his job to clear out him pockets when he takes them off and he always does so the is a plus. Now when my nephew who is 16 stayed with me over a month while his mom was in the hospital with her grandbaby my nieces daughter. The first time I did his laundry there was money, change, and all kinds of paper in my washer and I gave it back to him even though it was a bit worse for wear..lol But he ask why didn't I check his pockets.. I told him that it was his job to take everything out. He did after that.. which is good since some of the change got stuck under my agitator and almost tore up my washer.

I will admit that I myself on rare occasion have left stuff in my pockets without checking them before laundering them and had fuzz from tissues on everything..lol thankfully I get to use a dryer in the cooler months and it gets it all mostly off.

The good part is finding money but it messes up your machine.

If its a couple dollars i do...if its bills (here bills are 5 dollars and over) i tend to give em back. My boyfriend is really good about emptying his pockets generally he empties them when he walks in the door of the house...and leave change all over the place.

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Usually the days I don't it seems those are the days there is stuff in everyones pockets. When I do check pockets there is never anything in them so I get tired of checking and stop checking them for a while.

I think you should get everyone to check their own pockets.

I should have learnt by now to check pockets but I forget. My husband ALWAYS has tissues in his pockets and then I find bits of tissue fluff all over my black clothes - lovely! That stuff sticks better than super glue!

I used to check my husband's pockets soon after we were married. We didn't have a washing machine then and I would wash it by hand....so it was easier to check the pockets then. But after the kids came along and the burden increased, I stopped. Now, we have a washing machine...and I figured hubby and older son are old enough to check their pockets before putting their clothes in the laundry bin. If anything's lost or gone, I'm not responsible.

Oh I hate getting hubby's pants out of the dryer to find little jiblets of paper all over my clothes. I do check the pants pockets every now and then, but I'm like you. I feel like that should be HIS job and if he wants to keep whatever it is in his pockets. Usually it is not important, but if it is oh well...it's gone! You should of emptied your pockets. Every now and then I'll find a $5 or $1, but that isn't often since he uses a wallet.

Hi missybear,
We don't have a particular day designated as laundry day. Everyone just dumps the clothes in a common basket and we just put the load into the washing machine when it is of enough capacity.
I think the checking of pockets is the onus of oneself. I check my own pockets and everyone should do the same.

I don't because both of us are adults and we know to empty our pockets before throwing the clothing into the laundry basket.. Or we do most of the time.. We went to a local flea market one morning and since I hate to have to carry my purse, I put 75.00 in ones, fives and tens in my jeans pocket.. I didn't spend but a few dollars so the rest were left in my jeans when I threw them in the dirty clothes.. I washed the clothing and put them in the dryer.. when I opened the dryer, all kinds of ones, fives and tens came flying out of there, it looked like I had won the jackpot.. I gathered it up and went to tell my husband about it, after laughing about it for awhile, I went to check and make sure the rest of the clothes were dry and to take them out, I opened the door again and out came more money.. I finally remembered leaving it in my pants pocket but told my husband that doing laundry was even better than going to the casino, my odds were better doing the laundry.. I still don't check our pockets, but now it is because I might hit the jackpot again sometime..

See that's the fun part about laundry.
My honey don't really have any money because he hasn't worked in a while.
That takes all the fun out of checking pockets.

I don't check as I think it is his responsibility to empty his pockets before putting clothing in the washing basket. I do remember to check mine though; last year I washed my favourite jeans with my mobile phone in one of the pockets! Lesson learned.

Hello missybear! Well, I do checked the pocket especially when I am doing a laundry. I remember I got my sister's money wet because she forgot to get it and I forgot to check it too. Can you imagine she scolded me bacause of it? Do you think it was really my fault?

I have to check all my pockets as there is only myself to do it.
My mother would go through the pockets if I let her but then I am sure she would find something that wasn't supposed to be there and I would have to do a lot of explaining to her.
Crocket.

Hi I agree, my whole family know that if i wash something because they never emptied their pockets then tuff luck. It also drives me crazy if shirt sleeves are still rolled when I get them to wash or blouses are still buttoned up, it makes ironing take so much longer. Now and then they slip up and forget to unbutton or unroll their sleves but I never let them get away with it. If I am willing to wash and iron all their stuff then they can do their little bit to. :)x

I used to check my ex-hubby's pocket's after he had been out to the pub to see if he had any money in there coz he used to get very very drunk and what ever was in there more often then not it was like $50 and he used to say to me did you find any money in my pocket and i used to say no and he would just think coz he was that drunk he must have spent it at the pub..... Bad of me I know but that is why he is an ex coz he would support his family and never worked and never gave me money so I don't feel guilty at all!

I used to not to until one day I found a cough drop in the dryer all gooey and stuck to everything, clothes, etc. And once there was soemthing left in the pocket that must have had oil or something kinda tar like on it, it was smeared all over the dryer walls.
I always check. Saves me a lot of time in the long run. I wish I found money.

This has always been an issue with my two sons and my husband. But since I quit griping about it and I keep the money found they seem to be a little better about it now. I've made as much as $50.00 and as little as $0.10 washing laundry but they know now that it does not get returned. They want to be lazy then I reap the rewards! LOL

checking pockets is good hobby of me . because my husband leaves hand kercheif in it and i once leave like that and thown on laundry and he scolded me ,by not seeing it. from then onwards i am keen in seeing the pockets and put for laundry.
he doesnot leave money ,but once he leaved one paper clip type pin in this pocket and it strucked on washing machine wheel which is inside . and didn;t run the machine. and after again i have seen while removing clothes and seen that and removed it , and next time the washing machine worked, and i feel happy that washing machine is in good codition .otherwise we have to throw washing machine also outside. by gods grace it worked and saved our money.
so i decided to see his pockets before laundry .

I always check pockets! You never know what is going in the washer that could damage other clothing. My son leaves pens, lighters, money, tissues etc. in his pockets so now I always check them so not to ruin the other clothes that are in there. His dad was the same. Always leaving stuff in the pockets. Drives me crazy!! Beats having to buy new clothes though.
