What Kind Of Shopper Are You?

Are you the kind of shopper that I am, where you know what you want before you leave, and stick to what's on your list, or do you just go shopping for the fun of it, and end up spending all kinds of unnecessary money? Are you in between the two extremes where you may go shopping with a list, and bring home a few impulse items, but not too many? Or are you the kind who either forgets the list, or swear you don't need a list, only to come home with none of the things you went out for?

I know what I want usually and also have a list but will at times bring home just a very few extra's. The extra's may be something I totally forgot all about putting on the list or then again at times it is something that I have not had in a long time and get it or just because it looks good at the time.

You sound like me. I get so sick of dealing with people. I just want to get in, get what I went for, and get out!

I like to take lists with me so I do not forget what is on the list but the list often waivers and elongates! so I take a pen with me and update the list while I am out

If there is no list we always wind up forgetting crucial items and have to go back to the store another day. It's so much more efficient with a list and that way we don't get impulse items - only exactly what we need for the week!

I always have a list and sometimes stray a little. But I love shopping and browsing so every so often, I go a little overboard. When I'm grocery shopping with my husband though, it is a disaster as he picks and does NOT look at the price. Our bill is then double!

I don't make a list except in my head. I hate shopping, I go in buy what I need and get out. No looking around or going through every section, if I need bread to straight to the bakery, if I need sneakers, I go straight back to the sneakers. I despise shopping it sucks and I am not going to spend more time doing it than I have too.

I do make a list, as its important to not go over my budget. Food is so high now and my budget is to spend no more than $75 in the grocery store no matter how high produce is that week. Some weeks I buy frozen produce because the fresh has been through the roof in price.

My shopping habits vary depending on whether I have money to spend or not. Sometimes I go into the store with a list and that is all that I buy, if I don't have money to go off the list. Other times I will take a list, buy what is on the list and pick up anything else that I see that I want, if I have the money to. Every once in a while, when I have money, and I have nothing else to do and really have NO list, I will go to the store, just to go somewhere and will wander and sometimes I will buy and other times I will buy very little. That one doesn't happen very often because I rarely have the money to do it.

I'm a list shopper and I stick to it, my list might be 10 pages long but I get everything I need in one trip. I usually start a list at home and add to it during the week so when I go shopping I know just what to get. I may have to hit a few stores to get everything but I'll get it all. I've even gone into Wal Mart to get gum and that's all I got. The check out lady said that she wished she could practice that restraint, I told her its easy, its called self control.

I have a list but if I find something on sale I will buy it. I don't just run to the store and buy everything I see lol

Well, there are times that i stick to my list.. i used to be an impulsive buyer, i tend to buy unnecessary things but when i've moved out from my parents house and had my own place, i've learned how to be practical in so many ways.. i've learned how to prioritize things, save, etc.. money is indeed important most especially during this time of financial crisis.. we should learn how to save!

Yes, my shopping mentality/style is similar to yours. I only go shopping when I have a clear picture of what I want. I usually go by myself, this way I get in the mall and out quickly. I only buy impulse items when shopping with friends; sometimes you just can't help it :)

Well, there have been many times (especially when Grocery Shopping), that I will make a list of what I am wanting to buy and will make sure and stick to it, especially when $$ is tight. Then there are other times that I will not have one when I am just wanting to buy something different as well. Yes, I do have to watch sometimes for the impulse spending, and usually will just only get what I really need to buy as well.

I'm sort of in the middle, though I don't
do lots of shopping in stores anymore.
Before my daughter was born, I was the
typical bored housewife, so I went shopping
for fun. But, mostly, I bought stuff
for the household like groceries and such.
That was my big spending.
Money isn't the real issue, cause I'm very
frugal by nature.
These days, I do most of my shopping online.
But there's always the risk of over spending,
since I use a credit card.

I think most of us with lists end up buying more than what's on the list. I know I do because I'll see something and get to thinking, oh yeah, I need this too and then I'll wonder why it wasn't put on the list.... I only buy what I need when money is tight which is ALL the time! lol but will buy more than what's on the list if needed. Sometimes, a very rare occasion, I'll buy something totally off the list..... a very rare occasion indeed!

I love shopping if i have money but I shopping if I see some great stuff that sell can not I bougth because i don't have enough money whatever I always see the product before I buy... is that good or ugly ... is that looks good for me or not... that way I do not understand what kind of shopper I am... because I must prepare money and which stuff that most important have to buy... so I need list because that make us not buy anything that is not important and that for me not throw my money away

lol..I think I am all of the above depending on my mood. Often if I am going grocery shopping and have a few meals in mind, I will write a list and usually stick to it....If I go to a dollar store looking for a specific item or two, I will almost always come out about $20 later. Now if its a department store such as WalMart, I often grab deals I had no intention of purchasing and probably dont really need. I know I need to be a more disciplined shopper but I am getting better!..;)
