I am habituated in reading book on bed while going to sleep. I have heard of two different opinion on reading book before going to sleep, first is for good sleep quit the habit of reading any book other wise that may affect your sleeping while on bed you mind goes on roaming with it the second one is reading a good book i mean some knowledge based or spiritual types book can help you in having good sleep, it concentrate and focused the mind hence positive thoughts may lead you sleep better.
Whats your opinion

I have heard different things about reading in bed, sometimes it is hard to fall asleep when you are reading in bed. ANd I also saw that reading can help your mind relax, but it also keeps your mind active, so I lean more to that it makes it harder to sleep.

Yeah, I read books in bed, lying down. I know it's bad for the eyes but there are times that i feel really sleepy but still want to continue reading. I've been doing it ever since but my eyes are still in perfect condition.

reading in bed is not bad for the eyes if your light source is not compromised.
if you are still getting enough light while you read lying down, it's alright to do so.
and when you read with dim light, it doesn't exactly cause myopia or hyperopia (in other words, it won't cause you to need glasses). reading with a dim light can only cause asthenopia, or eye fatigue.
the retina isn't "damaged" by dim light. your eye muscles just get tired from squinting in the dark.

I love to read books on my bed. It's one of the place where I read most often. I think it's mainly because I feel very comfortable on my bed. It allows me to read comfortably. No matter the time of day, if I can't go read outside, I'll be reading on my bed.

I often put several books on my bed and read them before sleep. It's good for sleeping,i think. There's more than one time that i fell asleep after reading in bed, hehe.Yes,maybe it's not good for your eyes, but me,my eyes are good till now.^^.my suggestion is to read some literary works, not horror, thriller, otherwise you will never fall asleep all night.lol.

um, like i said in a comment in this same discussion, reading in the dark doesn't cause myopia or hyperopia (refraction errors). it won't cause you to need glasses. it does cause asthenopia, or eye fatigue, which goes away eventually.
reading in the dark doesn't "damage" the eyes. your muscles just get tired from squinting in the dark. but eventually, those "sore muscles" abate and your vision is still as is.
somehow, there's a myth circulating that reading while lying down or reading in the dark will cause you to have refraction errors (in other words, you will need glasses). but that's what it is: a myth.
so go ahead, read away! :D

I guess that is true because some times when i read book like pocket books or something like a love story or any books it make me more awake because it made me think more but there are also times that i read a book that it made me sleep, not sure though what type of book that make me sleep. Maybe like you said the inspirational one and the boring one i supposed. Anyway, it is fun to read books. It gives knowledge.

yes, I almost always read a book on bed. I have perfected the knack of holding up a book with one hand. However, when it takes too long, I start to experience numbness on my hand. LOL! I noticed I also get sleepy faster this way. My eyes starts watering and all.

Yes I read in bed. But not at night. At night my hubby and I usually watch a little tv before lights out. A habit developed from having a tv in the bedroom. But honestly, as a mom of a 5 yr old and a 7 week old, who has time to read? lol

i read book on bed specially if i can't sleep. sometimes it's hard for me to sleep, so instead of resorting to any kinds of sleeping pills, a good book is the best medicine. if my eyes are already tired from reading, that's the time i would feel sleepy.

Yes I read books on bed. First I prefer to listen to music and next is reading something. If i dont find good book i reads news paper or magazines. I t makes me to refresh my mind. It will delete all the temporary files and cookies in mind...LOL... simultaneously we gather knowledge by reading good books. Generally I reads comic books when i am on bed.

i read medical textbooks when i want to go to sleep. after the very first sentence, i doze off.
hehehe. just kidding. it's a known joke that med students read their textbooks to fall asleep - it's more effective than a pill!
when i was still in med school, i fall asleep while reading a book, on top of a book, still holding a book, drooling on my book. hehe. you name it.

A good book helps me relax. I get ready for bed and then snuggle in with my dogs and pick up my book. It's about the only time of day when I have a chance to read and it lets me get sleepy, not matter how good the book is. I really enjoy the hour I spend reading in bed everyday and it gives the dogs time to wind down and quit playing, too.

I love to read in bed.I have several books and magazines kept on the bed side table.I find that reading is the best thing to do when you are unable to get sleep. I remember a time when I read a book completely lying on my bed, since i was alone at home. When i finished the book I realised that it was nearly 5 in the morning lol and I had been reading the whole night

Seldom do I read a book in bed, unless there is no other place that is peaceful, like when you are traveling in a ship, and there is no other place to read except in bed. The posture is not good when you read in bed and I have heard it said that, ultimately, it will affect your eyes. True or not, I don't want to experiment.
