Man does not tell his wife he wants a divorce but tells 'facebook'?!

Just read a story earlier about this guy whose wife was totally unaware and found out that his facebook status update read: ' Neil Brady has ended his marriage to Emma Brady' She only found out when a friend who read the facebook status called to console her...
You can find the full story here..
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1136503/Husband-dumps-wife-online-message-worlds-divorce-Facebook.html
Apparently, this guy says that his wife should have guessed 'he'd had enough of her' How about telling her first he wanted out? Strange...and harsh! Did he just think she'd probably check her facebook that day and find out?! This lady says that what hurt her most was that someone had written a comment 'You are better off out of it' Think she is better off without him going by the rest of the story!
What do you think?

Hello marina321! This is really shocking. It's almost unbelievable to me. I can't believe that a man acted like he doesn't have education at all. I mean, why would he tell the world about it. It's so embarrassing. I am so sorry for Emma though. It's not right to treat a wife like that.

Oh what a cad, I can only say one thing she is way better off with him out of her life, why is it today people just don't care about other peoples feelings, I am shocked when i hear some of the things people do to each other these days....its a selfish world out there...no wonder I love animals so much...

It was rather insensitive of him and she is much better off without him.. the story goes on to say
'Brady claimed his wife had been seen with another man and in the row that followed he threw her out of the house, injuring her wrist, and locked her in the back garden.
He pleaded guilty and was fined £580 and ordered to pay £100 compensation.'
He is an utter moron! She's so much better off without him if he could treat her that way... There must be more to the story... can't believe he was only fined that amount for what he did!

i agree, people are very selfish these days and having very little character if they have any at all. tsktsktsk animals are unlike people, they are living simple lives and do not complicate things, i wonder where our civilization is heading to

He is a low down scoundrel. At least he could have had the decency to tell her that it was not working out. I bet it was because he felt he would not get in as much trouble from beating her if they got a divorce, so he was running away and blaming her for his problems. He sounds like a jealous man. And a coward as well. Too cowardly to go into counseling, just runs home to mommy!

Yup, he does sound like a jealous man and trouble to considering what he did previously...
'Too cowardly to go into counseling, just runs home to mommy!' Too funny!

WOW! Maria, thank you for posting this article. I read one of the comments reminding us the Phil Collins dumped his wife via FAX and that it was only a matter of time b-4 technology caught up, so now the creeps can definitely use Facebook in place of FAX. What a putz! I agree with the comment, "He's definitely not a looker."

Yes, maybe they'd use facebook now... putting a message on one's wall or sending a facebook message may not be as 'public' as putting it on the status update
Wonder if he thought she'd definitely be checking facebook..it's an odd one. Maybe he wanted to humiliate her or something Either way, evil!

That is harsh! I really feel sorry for this woman. I can't imagine the shock that you'd go into. Definately a different way to end a marriage I guess, probably not the best way though. I guess the guys a bit of a coward not to say it to her face though. I would be scared to login to facebook if something liked that ever happened.

I suppose we could look at it as him being a coward and not having the guts to say it to her or as him being very insensitive and wanting to inflict as much embarassment on his wife as he could...it's a strange one! Yes, feel sorry for her too but at least she's left the guy... wouldn't have stayed with him after the fact that he locked her out in the back garden and injured her wrist coz she 'was seen with another guy'..

He is a coward in my dictionary!
A coward is
1) Anyone who does not dare to face his/her problems head on!
2) Run/hide/shy away from his/problems!
3) Push the blame to somebody else!
He should at least speak or try to communicate with his wife before putting that comment!
It's kind of embrassing to put family conflicts out online for strangers to see.. Personally I would prefer to ask for advice instead.. At least he won't be getting too harsh comments from all of us!
It seems like he is someone who doesn't know how to handle relationships and basic communications for a IT consultant.. Too much computers and programming languages in his case!

Perhaps what could not be told by the person by face to face, was told by him through 'facebook'! Just a pre-divorce hide-and-seek as there was true love between the couple. This was to avoid the face to face shock for his loved one! Thanks for this specific posting and have a good day!

Wow...I can tell that everything is possible to happen nowadays! I don't know what's on people's mind!
ANyway, I hope Emma will move on fast and she will be healed by time. This is not easy on her part since she has no idea about his hubby's plan..

I saw this yesterday or a few days before but hadn't responded yet. I just now read your discussion and the article link. I think that it is sad that he could not face her himself to tell her that he was wanting a divorce. It does sound like she is better off without him though.

Another example showing how much we are distant from the real world and closer to the virtual world.

When people are that closed off, I suppose it is better off in the long run that they did not remain together. Who knows what other secrets he could of had. It is sad that it did happen, as I think regardless, people should find a way to be honest with one another. It is instances like this that assist in making people distrust the ones they are closest to.

That is so low of him to do this!! Yes she is way better off without him, he obviously don't have any guts! I would be in so much shock if I were her I wouldn't know what to do!! I would be extremely hurt, but frustrated at the same time! Some men just have no feelings what so ever!!

I read the link. Yes, I feel that she is better off without him. They were only married 6 years not to long. He should have told her first. I mean it was like putting the info on a billboard for the world to see. He shouldn't have done that I know I wouldn't want to find out that way.

OUCH! That's just cold, rude, and nasty! Sounds to me like she is better off (being rid of him) and not the other way around!
I'm sorry (not really!), but I think it was more than inappropriate for that man to do what he did. I understand that couples will fight. And not all marriages are going to last. But it's completely inappropriate to take personal matters and make them public the way he did. If you're having marital problems, take it up with the other person and not to a (somewhat) public venue and let them find out what you're thinking and what's going on that way.

The marvels of modern technology.i can see talking to friends about a divorce but you Have to inform your spouse sometime. If I were afraid that he would hit me or block me from going, I would have the papers delivered to his work. as I am moving out of the house or changing the locks. But to put it out on facebook? that's dumb.

wow what a way to find out. That is a pretty crazy story. I would rather someone tell me to my face then announce it on facebook for everyone else to know before her. Some people think up some crazy things. Or maybe they just don't think.

It is shocking. I guess she is better off without him. Look at a person who can't face his wife and say that he wants a divorce. By this act, it is clear that he just can't prove anything wrong against her. Look how internet has advanced. The world knows that he has divorced her even before his wife knows. Great advancement.
